Wow!!! I just saved over $80 renting from National!!!! The best rate I could find was originally $268 for a week from Hertz (4/15/11 through 4/22/11) picking up and returning in RI. The same car and dates through National is $178!

So, has anyone rented from National?? I cannot see how they can be soo much cheaper, plus I'm renting from the airport through National where the Hertz was way far away from the airport

I notice that your quote includes "(3) Time and Distance extra". That seems to be a duplicate of the (2). Without 3 your price would be the same as Dollar, before the application of your coupons.

You need # 3 as I am a 10 day rental ..........

When you compare both at 10 days my Dollar rate is cheaper .........

Just speaking from my own experience, I wouldn't rent from Dollar again even if they were free.

Both times I tried them, their customer service was horrible, including one time our rental van broke down on the side of the road in August in Key Largo. They told us we had to wait on the side of the road in the sweltering heat with my 70 year old widowed mom and an infant, even though they said it would be a 4-6 hour wait for someone to show up. When I explained that I didn't think that would be safe for an elderly woman or an infant, the customer service rep told me that was my problem and hung up on me.

I could go on and on about the bad experiences I've had with multiple Dollar employees, but it's not my intention to start an argument or anything. Just want to send out a heads up that in my opinion, you get what you pay for if you try to save a couple bucks with Dollar car rentals.

All 5 of my past three years at MCO have been with Dollar. Never a problem.
Even once when I had a bad viberation in the steering they brought me another car to trade out at my resort

As much as I love National's "go to the aisle and choose your own car" program, I think I'll go with Alamo to save $225.

Over the last year, it gives a very good rate, but rarely the the absolute best one for national for my dates of travel. I did use the current coupon code via mix & match with another corporate ID when i booked my travel earlier this year.

BTW, I didn't post it here as imo it is an affinity/perc rate for belonging to the program that you need to sign into the border reward site to view current offers. You very well may need to produce a borders reward card at time of pickup. It doesn't 'cost' anything to obtain one (other than sharing personal information) but for those who plan on utililzing the corporate code, i'd get one & drag it along jik.

I was confused by that too. I think you just print the offer page.
