My husband and I attended the ball on Saturday night, and it was a wonderful event!!!! Everyone was dressed formally and all of the Marines were in their dress blues. The ballroom looked out over the water, and there were fireworks before dinner.

Our son looked so handsome (of course ;) ) with a chest full of new medals from his tour of duty in Iraq.

Just wish that all of you who wrote to him and sent him care packages could have shared the evening with us!!!::yes::

How proud you must have been, twinmom! I'm so glad that your son is o.k. and came back a hero, and that you and your husband were able to go and have a nice time at the ball! :)

I'm so glad the unit got to celebrate together in such a special way. It must have been a magical night.

What a wonderful evening that must have been. I'm sure it was probably a little teary eyed though too thinking of all those other young men still out there serving! Wish they could have all been at the ball! What an honor for your son to be presented with all those medals!

While I think of it...please thank him again for me for risking his life to protect freedom.

One of the most touching things was a small round table, set off to the side. It was draped in black and had a chair tilted up against the table. There was one single candle burning on the table. As the evening started, it was announced that this table signified all of the Marines that have not made it home and then they played TAPS. I'm sure there were many misty eyes (besides mine).

My dad was in the marines and my mother and him went to there ball. My mom used to talk about it so much! I haven't heard anyone mention the Marine Corps Ball in a while and it has brought back a flood of memories! So I want to thank-you for sharing! I would also like to thank your son for being so brave for our country!! He's a much appreciated man!

I'm just sooo happy that he and the rest of his unit are home safely. :D

One of DD's best friend's brother (and also a friend of hers) is now over in Iraq. He's in the Army and is in a real hot spot..... He's only 19.:( He joined the Army on the delayed program while still a senior in HS after 9-11.
