when do you BATHE/shower the kids at Disney? At home, our boys get DIRTY and so we do baths at the end of the night, then on to bed. I am trying to figure this out for vacation...if we come back to the room for an afternoon break/swim, do we shower then and head back to the park, that way if they fall asleep on the way back they are clean? Mornings? I'm nuts, sorry!

Not nuts at all,
I'm going to give you one of those non answer, answers. Go with whatever works best. My sons also get dirty especially when we go in August and it's hot. Some times they would fall asleep on the way back to the resort and I would not wake them up just to take a shower but if they make it through the night and are still up every one pops in the shower. We always get in a shower after swimming/water parks, then usually we're nice and clean for dinner. Play it by ear.

I agree to play it by ear! We found it easiest to bathe DS right after pool-time because I wanted the chlorine off his sensitive skin, but whatever works best for you is great - no one is keeping track!

Same "whenever it works out" answer here! I leave them sleeping if they are out of it or just too worn down at the end of the night, so it seems like most days we just squeeze it in when we go back to the room to rest or swim during the day. I have also been known to let them skip a bath or two at DW.:sad2: Especially if they have been in the pool and we just don't have the time or energy. I figure that the chlorine probably gets most of the yuck off of them. I don't generally do this at home, but I just refuse to let any little detail like this mess up my magic.

Another - whatever works family here but what you mentioned in your OP is usually what happens with us. Up and out early, return to the resort to swim and play, shower and head back out. If we do an all day park day or a late evening we usually take it easy the next am and do showers then.

We usually go back to the hotel for afternoon swim time, then head back out again to a table service dinner. The kids do their showers between swimming and dinner.

Whenever we get the time. It depended on the schedule. Sometimes they got a quick morning shower and then we were off (with wet hair and all) other times it was middle of the day, before dinner and sometimes it was at night.

I'm afraid there were probably somedays when there was no showering at all.

Gee, you mean swimming in the pool doesn't count as a bath? LOL That's what my girls think. I usually can talk them into it after swimming though to get the chlorine out of their hair but to be honest they have skipped a few showers when on vacation.

I always do at night because they get so sweaty! Even if it is just a super duper quick one!

I often get one when we come back in the afternoon but then I also get one at night.

We bathe at the end of every nihgt so we reduce the chance of us getting sick, besides its good to feel clean at the end of a fun day at WDW.

Well, at home we always bathe the kids before bed.

In WDW last year this did not work according to plan because after a late night at the park getting back anywhere from 10pm-12am with 3-4 sleeping toddlers it wasn't happening that way.

Usually what we did was shower after nap/swim before heading out for dinner and the evening. They took a bath in the morning too before heading out. It just became habit. My kids love the bath.

Play it by ear you can always do the bath before the evening park visit like you said and if they need it you can always do a quick shower again the next morning.....Don't stress and don't worry about a schedule just do it as it comes...:thumbsup2

I thought that's what those afternoon thunderstorms were for?:confused3

Seriously, whenever works out best. Usually afternoon or, with DD, before bed to calm her down for sleep.

So here is what we did way back when I went twenty + years ago when I was a wee-one. MK for the morning... pool in the afternoon and then shower and into pj's for the evening rounds at MK. That way if I fell asleep on the way home I could go right to bed.
Fast forward 20+ years............>>>>> Disney with 2 kids age 7 and 11 months
WE usually did bathes whenever possible....... 11 month old also had double ear infections and had severe diahrrea so he bathed all the time even in the parks.
I found that carring baby wipes with me still proves to be a great thing... easy wipe down to get grime off when needed. That way before dinner if you haven't made it back to the hotel the Kids look CLEAN......LOL
I haven't a clue what we are going to do when we go for XMAS this year. I now have three and we plan on heading out of the cabins early to make it before parks open. So most likely we will try to fit in showers in the PM

If they were asleep when we got back or just way too tired, we bathed them in the morning. If they weren't it was at night. Just play it by ear.

We're a family of early risers. We're up by 6am at the latest during the week for work/daycare. We do the shower/bath thing in the mornings since we have plenty of time to do that, eat breakfast and head out to a park.

Whatever works! If we're grungy when we get back to the room before dinner it may be a shower or sponge bath. Baths, at our house, are loooooong events. Definitely a quick shower after the pool, though no actual soap may be involved.

After a long day of WDW, we don't do "baths". DD does "relaxing time" in the tub. Give her a cup, an empty water bottle, and her goggles (??) and she's good for quite a while. Add a dinosaur squirt gun from AK's MCDonald's kids meal and it's even better. After 15 minutes I usually go and get some soap/shampoo on her.

.

HA HA HA!!!!! I am with you there all the way!

i confess...that is me too...and dont forget Kali River Rapids for a quick shower!

We did our dd's bathes during our afternoon break. In the mornings we wanted to head out asap so no time for baths then and then at night they would fall asleep on the buses, so afternoons worked best for us.
