But I have to do it. St. Jude's is a WONDERFUL place. A GOD send to people living with the hell of childhood cancer. I donate everytime they ask. My brother died of cancer, and he was 48, I can't imagine losing a child to cancer.
That being said, right now, many company's/stores are in a fundraising campaign for St. Jude's. Domino's Pizza is one of them. We are supposed to ask the customer when they call, iif they would like to donate a $1 to St. Jude's. Most of the kids that work there, won't ask. they are uncomfortable. So, I figured I really needed to pick up their slack, and make it a point to ask, and not forget. I was so proud of myself by the end of Firday's lunch shift. I got 8 donations! Not much , but it is more than what we have gotten since it started almost 2 weeks ago. Because they don't ask.
Anyway, even though I became Asst. Manager, I still deliver on Friday nights. In between runs, I will answer the phone. So, this past Friday, I kept the momentum, and asked if they would like to donate to St. Jude's. Well, after delivering to a few people, it dawned on me, they say yes, but give the driver the same money they would of given anyway. So, the $1 they said yes to, is coming out of the driver's tip. It took it happening to me 2 times for me to realize this.
So, I have decided, I am only going to ask the customer's who are coming in for a carry-out. I feel really bad, that I am closing off a good portion of potential donations, but it is not really a donation from the customer. If 20 delivery customer's said yes to $1, then the driver's combined made a $20 donation, not the customer. I don't feel I can do that to the driver's.
