I feel so blessed working where I am...

Everyday I find another reason to be thankful I got the job at the senior living community I work at.

First of all I work with the most AWESOME group of women. All of them are serious and dedicated to what they do, and I can't believe how GRATEFUL they are to have ME there! The community is the first of it's kind in Georgia and they have so much stress to make it work. It's an affordable luxury all inclusive independent living place for people over 55. There is nothng like it in the state so they they have to prove it will work and that there should be MORE.

The units are gorgeous and I have the "horrendous" job of taking people on tours of them! I've actually had people CRY when they saw the models! Everything they ever dreamed of is offered there, and the look on their faces when they find out they can AFFORD this kind of luxury, well, it's like getting the Grand Floridian for Pop Century prices!

Everyday is different, but the result is the same. I'm surrounded by lovely little old people who smile, wave and hug me everyday. On the way out the other day one whispered in my ear "I love you, you pretty little thing..." Imagine, to them I AM a little girl at the grand old age of 48!

My co workers are so friendly and easy to work with. At the weekly meeting the top boss called them "heroes". A truer word could not be spoken.

Yesterday I had to get some quotes from the residents for the newsletter. One told me "it's the CLOSEST thing to HEAVEN!"

My grandmother lives in an assisted living place and she always says it looks like the Ritz Carlton! (I don't think she has ever been to the Ritz! LOL) Anyway, I enjoy my visits there and have even thought about seeking employment there. I think I would do well with older people and I KNOW I"d benefit from them! I am happy that you love your job. My gm is almost 90. I think she does believe that 48 is just a girl!

I don't think I've ever seen so many people ask if there are any openings at a place before! Every family I meet one member whispers, "what a nice place, any openings here?" It's another reason I know I'm blessed!

That is great , it always helps to be happy where you work. I have been at my job 16 years in June and I can't imagine working for anyone else. I hate what I do but love who I work for.

My mother in law lives in a complex just like that. I remember when we toured the complex, she was so relieved to find a place where she actually wanted to fill her last years. She loves her home and is so proud of it. I can see exactly why you would love your job Robin, seniors are so afraid of ending up in scary nursing homes, you must be like an angel to them!

Now here's a PLUS!! I'm now able to DIS during down times!!

They're teaching the seniors one on one classes in the internet now, it's so cute, they look at it like a deer in headlights! A few have computers in their rooms now!

Yes, I think I finally found my niche. I now have a walking/jogging partner, a 72yo man who has WAY more energy than I do, several new Moms and a wonderful new family to enjoy. This is a true blessing.

Now I'm working on getting my Aunt and Uncle in! The problem is so many people look at the place and think immediately... I CAN'T AFFORD IT!! I love the look in their faces when they find out that they can!
