I feel sick, Barclaycard fraud!!(updated)

Indian Call centres!! :headache::mad:

I dread to think what my phone bill is going to be like :headache:

When the lowcost holidays transaction hit my account on Saturday and was disputed the man i spoke to said to ring back today as that is when the Easyjet transaction will go onto my account so i can dispute that too.

So first thing this morning i do just that, explain everything again and then get put my on hold for ages. She then tells me that as the dispute form has already been sent out i can just add the Easyjet one onto it, they do not need to do anything. I tried to explain that on saturday i was told to ring but she would not listen.
So i thank her through gritted teeth and call back only to be told exactly the same thing again, i can just add it to the form that is on it's way to me.
Why on earth was i told to ring back today then

On a positive note i received my new card today which did indeed have a sticker on with a telephone number to confirm safe receipt. It is indeed normal process as is sending out text messages. I can even have them set up to tell me when my new bill is generated, to remind me to pay 5 days before etc.

I will be glad when all this is sorted!

 It just seems to take forever doesn't it?! I didn't get a form, it was all done over the phone but it took several weeks to get the all-clear. I was really upset so I know how you feel. I was actually physically being sick for the first two days. Let us know how you get on with it.

Thinking of you. :goodvibes

Just a quick question.

Does anyone here have a Barclaycard and ever had to get a new card.

I just got a text message from them, from this number 62277, saying my new card is on it's way and to please call the number shown on the sticker of the new card to confirm safe receipt. :confused3
I know i have my mobile number logged with them but i have never heard of them sending out text messages.

I made a big purchase this week on my Virgin card and they sent me a text message saying along the lines of

"XXX has requested a payment for £XX, if you recognise this puchase reply Yes, if not, reply No."

It was a bit of a surprise to me too, I've never had that happen before or heard of it - but seems to be the way the banks are moving. I think I like it too, especially if it stopped my card ever being blocked on holiday. "Are you currently making purchases in Florida? Reply Yes or No"

But anyhow, sympathies for the card fraud. I once had my CC cloned and they were making cash withdrawals in New York and it was picked up very quickly (bank contacted me and blocked the card before I'd even noticed) - it was all handled very well by the bank over the phone and the funds returned without so much as a bat of an eye.

I must admit, I didn't feel sick about it but I did spend a long time wracking my brain trying to figure out how and when it had been cloned. The lady at the bank told me it could have happened a year or more ago presumably to make it harder to track back to the source when they do it

ive had my card bloked because of my usual spending (2 wii's and a PS3 )

and i've had visa phone me up again beacuse of my usual spending thinking that my card was been used by someone else (was trying to buy an App off itunes for 79p and kept putting in the wrong expire date )
our card was used too, a good few years back over £1500 (before internet banking)again visa were on top of it before we even knew

good to know that they are looking out of us , well I pay enough intest on my card that they should

All sorted, the £527.07 was put back in my account today :goodvibes

I have another question that i hope some of you may be able to help me with.

As you know my August statement was for just over £658 but only £130 of that was mine due to fraud on my account.
I then had a refund for an item i sent back to a company which thankfully made it's way back to account (processed to old cancelled card) which took my balance down to £628 however this was after my statement had been generated.

As i said today i received all the money for the fraudulent transactions back into my account (both refunds were dated on the date that they actually took place, so the 11th and 12th of August, as if the money never left) leaving me with a balance now of just over £100.

I have just paid my bill and paid the whole £100 or so, so once processed my current balance will read zero.

Because my August statement was for over £600 and i have only paid just over £100 will i pay any interest? i am quite confused by it all to be honest. My friend said that because i had not paid the £658 in full i would but if i had of done that then my account would be over £500 in credit.

Could someone please advise??

interest is actually calculated on a daily basis and is based upon what it in your account at the time (not what you've paid).

In addition, there should be no interest from the fraudulent transactions anyway as that money should never have been there in the first place, meaning charging you interest on it is wrong.

So - you should be fine (assuming that you would not have normally paid interest on the £100 or so. If you do end up with interest then yet another phone call should sort it out :thumbsup2

Hugs so sorry to hear about this.

My bf has had his barclaycard used frauduently twice now in the past two years. Thankfully bf checked his account and saw both times and he did get the money back from Barclays. The weird thing is Barclays had spotted that weird activity was going on in terms of spending apparently and then when they went to ring noticed that his number and address etc had been changed on the online credit card banking thing but didn't think to cancel then thankfully bf rang next day and it got cancelled. (Thankfully they didnt get his online banking details for current account).

The woman on the other end said to him oh yeah we noticed weird activity.
