I feel like Im cheating!

We are Disney fans in our family. We go to WDW not only for "rides" but the general Disney environment. :earsboy:

We don't go to Six Flags because we don't typically enjoy thrill rides.

We live less than an hour away from Holiday World, but we usually don't go there, either. It's clean enough, and the drinks are free, but the ticket price isn't worth (to us) what you get. That and Pat Koch (owner) is always on the commercials asking, "Why go to a far away Fantasyland?" which is just annoying. She seems to compare their park to WDW. If she wants to do that, fine, but they're always going to fall short in my book.

We live less than 5 minutes away from Six Flags NE and have no desire to go there! Years ago we received complimentary season passes for the family because of how close we lived. We did take advantage of those and brought our kids almost weekly. After a few years they gave us a day passes which could be applied towards the cost of season passes....which we did and again brought the kids weekly. Then they just gave us 4 day passes...period. We purchased season passes for our sons as gifts for a couple of years but my husband and I stopped going as the kids were older and usually went off with their friends. My husband and I don't really care for the park or the rides and now my sons don't even care if they go once a year any more.

OP- I live in Enfield, and trust me, you're not missing much by never having gone to Six Flags NE. NO COMPARISON!

I love Six Flags. Grew up going to Magic Mountain. Disneyland is so expensive and they were equal distance from each other. It felt like a better value. Always did DLand for NYE though. Love the New Year's under the castle with a loved one.

we live close to six flags also, same as other said, not as clean, good coaster, young, often semi rude cast.
our only "cheating" feeling would be universal (if we ever go) because for so long they ran very anti Disney adds. we love Disney and their adds poking fun or downgrading Disney just put a bad taste in our mouth. my wife is very, very, very, anti universal now and our only reason to ever go there now will be if our kids beg for it when they are teenagers (they are 7 and 5 now) for the coasters. i think of it like food sometimes. Disney is filet mignon, six flags is burger. i like burgers a lot but would never pick a burger over a good steak!

Hate Six Flags, but bought season passes this year as DS would enjoy going about three time (pass is just $65 pp, less than one day at Disney but for bang for the buck -- one day at Disney is so much better.). Our Six Flags is 20 minutes from our house and to go a couple times a year is a fun little diversion. What I hate mostly about the parks is the horrible overpriced food, the unfriendly policy of no food or drinks in, how they discourage you from even bringing a purse or backpack in by making you rent a locker for $1 for every roller coaster you ride, how they do so little to improve the parks year after year, etc., that they don't have that many great things to do (if you've been before it's more of a half day place). On top of that it just doesn't have the wonderful vibe of a Disney or SeaWorld. // Going, though, will help you to appreciate Disney and all the other World Class theme parks in Orlando. I love Cedar Point too for thrill rides. This is a thrill park place that I get a great vibe from that has other great family fun things to do. // If anything going to Six Flags might make you appreciate Disney more and plan trips to Orlando more often. It does that to me.

We've been to several other parks and they all have their own atmosphere. I know that when I go to Six Flags or Cedar Point or Kings Island, it's not going to be the same environment as Disney. In general, the crowd is different, the employees don't have the Disney training, and the theming and quality is not as great. BUT, we are coaster enthusiasts, so we appreciate the other parks for what they offer. Sure, Disney World is our number one, and we would go there much more often if we lived closer and could afford it. But, there are many great experiences to be had at other parks, even if they don't carry the same magic. I've never had an experience comparable to riding Millenium Force at Cedar Point, as well as several other unique coasters there. Universal also has rides that are a singular experience unlike anything at WDW. Disney will always be my favorite and my preference, but I will never hesitate to experience the other parks out there. Fun is fun!!!

My opinion, Six Flags can't hold a candle to Disney. we haven't been there for years, and we live 40 minutes away. Hershey Park is like a mini Disney for a weekend trip (just as clean and friendly). :dance3:

Enfield resident here too! There are getting to be a few of us in town. Maybe we should meet at Home Depot to "borrow" a few lime green Mickey heads!!

OMG, those were the funniest ads ever!! "If I have to hug one more princess!!!" As certified Disney fanatics, we especially should be able to see the humor in those ads.

I truly don't understand the Universal problem. US/IOA is a TERRIFIC park with great theming and attractions. It's clean, well-run, has polite helpful workers. What more do you want? I always felt those refusing to go to that "other park" because it isn't WDW to be cutting off their noses to spite their face. :confused3

Ok so please dont think im crazy! :confused3
I love Disney and go every year. I live 15 minutes from a Six Flags and had never been there. Everybody tells me Im crazy because i live so close and never put foot in it. Is just that i feel like im cheating Mickey Mouse. Im very loyal to disney and i feel that nothing is as good as the mouse. :scared1:

does anyone else feels this way??

I really don't think Disney would mind if you went to Six Flags once of twice a year. Mickey would understand.:flower3:

Mickey doesn't care, as long as you drop in to see him every once in a while...

Cheating?! That is a bit much. :rotfl: I live 20 minutes from a Six Flags and we visit several times a year. While it doesn't come close to Disney it provides us with the theme park thrills we like. As we all know Disney is a unique experience unto itself but there is nothing wrong with visiting other parks; you know where home is and that is all that matters.

I go to Six Flags NE once a year. It's two hours away but its worth it just to ride Bizzaro, the best coaster I've ever been on, and I've been on a lot. They also have a free water park that is really cool.

I also go to Canobie Lake at least once a year. It's a small amusement park in NH.

Can't get enough of my rides. No, they're not like Disney, but for a daytrip, they're great!

Going there is no worse or cheating more than going to *niversal St*dios, and lots of people go there. Just go, I'll tell Mickey you were with me that day looking for hidden mickeys at your local Disney Store, he will never know your secret.

For us, we don't want to "waste" any time that we're in Orlando by going to another park. If we're going to be at a theme park, we'd much rather be in a Disney park.

That is a very biased viewpoint but of course you are entitled to it. We are different and feel like we're wasting our time if we ONLY go to Disney themeparks.

I live about five minutes away from Sea World and thirty from a Six Flags. I don't go to Six Flags anymore but I did enjoy it quite a lot as a child. The rides are thrill rides and I used to be a roller coaster junkie. WDW doesn't have very many thrill rides so they are totally different experiences.

As for the Sea World, I have a season pass and it's no WDW but it'll do. We go every other week or so just to go swimming for a few hours. :)

same here we're on the south side of sa and usally buy a pass to six flags just for the water park, other than that were pretty bored of fiesta texas. when we do go we're out of there by noon
