I feel like I am such a huge disappointment for my best friend

I mentioned to my best friend that I have never eBayed. She was aghast at that kind of news. The last time I was at her house, she tried to remedy this problem I have. She tried her best, she had me go to her computer and go to her eBay thingy to look to see if she'd won a bid on something she'd bid on (I believe Pooh Bear wineglasses, she's a huge Pooh Bear fan). Then she said "Oh, type Mickey Mouse to see what all you can see about Mickey." I'm a big Mickey fan.:teeth: I click clicked on it, but lost interest. My fingers were itching to go to TDS online, but I held back so she wouldn't get her feelings hurt. She was kinda disappointed that I didn't get a gleam in my eye like she does when she's looking at eBay stuff. Ever since that time she tried to take me to the eBay side of life, she's asked me if I've looked at eBay since then, and I've truthfully told her no. ~sigh~ I feel like I've failed her somehow.;)

Anybody else not an eBayer?

I sell online but people assume it's Ebay. I've never done Ebay either...so you aren't alone. Never bought, sold or even took a peek. WAY too confusing for my needs. LOL
:p

Why should she expect you to "ebay"? I'm not an "ebayer" either. The only thing I ever bought there is a doll on the Disney str site.

I love to quilt, but would never expect my friends to quilt......

My husband is the same way. He can spend hours on ebay shopping for cars, bicycles, Disney stuff, you name it, he shops. This is a man that has to be begged to go to the mall, but he'll shop for hours on ebay. He loves it.

Shannon, I don't get it either. I think it's the delayed satisfaction. I don't like waiting to see if my bid has won. Stephen never uses the "buy it now" button because he loves the anticipation of the competition. If I shop online, I like to shop around for the best price, then buy it, that's all.

Sorry, not an ebay convert.

Me :wave2: I did actually sell a couple of my kids' videos. But have no interest in buying anything. I don't have the patience to bid and wait.

Now my dd bought a video camera online a couple of years ago, she saved her money, showed us what she wanted and we let her bid on one. But it's not for me.

I don't ebay either. I'm not comfortable with the whole thing - the bidding, the sending money and hoping I get my stuff, the trusting other people's opinions, etc. Besides, I'm trying to get RID of my stuff, not add more.

I'm glad I'm not alone.:)

Kimberle, my best friend totally does not understand that I hate to shop. She's always trying to find new ways to convert me to be a shopper.:p

Me! I don't ebay either. I tried it once and didn't care for it. Not the way it's set up, the way you pay with Pay Pal, NOTHING! Never going back. LOL! ;)

I am SO NOT into eBay. I just don't get it. Actually, I do understand it, I just don't see the thrill or appeal. I know some people who are basically addicted to eBay, who used to be addicted to the Home Shopping channel. LOL They like the thrill of packages arriving in the mail, and with eBay, they like the thrill of "winning" the bid. I am not a "shopper" in the first place, but if I'm going to buy something, I'd rather go shop for it myself. As for collectibles, forget it. They're all dust-collectors and wastes of money (in my humble opinion ;) ) I know people who have vast collections of porcelain dolls. Give me a break. What a waste of space and money!!! LOL

Sorry for rambling, but I could go on and on about this.... I simply see it as a way for some people to unload their junk and for others to buy it. I guess that's what makes this world go round, but not for me.

Me too! I tried to read the thread on the budget board - thinking I could make some extra $$ - but I couldn't do it. I bought a couple of things (DD collects Minnie Beanies) but can't be bothered to figure the whole thing out. To me it's like reading the instructions that come with something complicated! LOL!
Browneyes - I too hate to shop! I thought I was the only one ;)

Well, DH and I are HUGE ebayers. We have bought and sold and gotten really good deals.

However, my mom and step-father will not buy or sell anything online. They wont put their credit card on the internet. I dont try to push my opinions on them. I wouldn't feel like you are failing her. You dont have to like everything your friends like just becuase you are friends. For example you like Mickey she likes Pooh..yshe likes Ebay..you dont..it is ok to not like all the same things!

I hate to shop too!! I think it has to do with the fact that while clothes shopping, there isn't a single store that makes clothes in my size :(. And most of the time if I think I need to go get something, I spend hours wondering around the mall, thinking 'I dunno, it's alot of money to spend on that'. Even if it's really not a lot of money. I do check out e-bay however, atleast once a day, but I don't ever buy really. And I tried to sell some clothes on ebay once, actually really nice clothes that I bought and never wore, and no one bid on them, even though I put them up for like 50cts each, starting bid, And then I still had to pay the listing fee even though no one bid. So I was a bit frustrated with that. Once I sold a gameboy for 40 bucks though, It was clear purple and I think it was a special one or something, because there were a few other clear purple ones up that were going pretty high too.

tricia.

I can count on one hand how many times I've even been to the e-bay site.

Started ebaying in November, and now I am addicted.:p :teeth: Got my yellow star already!:teeth: I only buy!:teeth:

I buy and sell occassionally on ebay. But really - too each their own!!!

Kelly

My dh is into ebay....... not me...... I "Dis"! Ebay just doesn't interest me.::MickeyMo

Ebay can be super addictive if you find something you like. I was hooked for a few weeks buying links for my Italian link bracelet. Now I have 2 bracets full, so does my 4yo DD. Plus I've given them as gifts.

I need to keep back 500 ft. from Ebay:rolleyes:
