I envy non-smokers!!

I'd like to Thank everyone for the encouragement. It really means alot to me! Reading your sucess stories is giving me HOPE!
tstobb~ When you think about lighting up, think about why you stopped in the 1st place and keep being selfish. I want to breathe. I don't like the smell on my clothes. I don't like standing outside in the rain/snow/heat.
I love that you said this because these are my reasons too. I am sick of the HASSLE it is. I'm tired of having it run MY LIFE. I would like to stop being a slave to them. I have to admit, all these laws they are passing are working on me. I want to breathe too. I want to taste food like everyone elce!

Dan Murphy~ Wishing you the best of success, delswife. You WILL do it this time. An ex-smoker here, over 30 years. It was tough back then, a 2 pack-a-day Camel smoker, no filters.

Can I say, "OHMYGOD!" How did you quit? How long has it been? This is great!

DopeysGal~ It's not "hip" anymore, like when I was a teen.
Yeah, we knew it all back then, didn't we?;)

luvindisneyworld~ We should start a support group for Dis'ers that want to quit or are trying.

Thank you again!

I'm just wondering if there are smoking cessation classes available in your area. I am a Health Promotion Specialist and in the UK smoking cessation classes are available through the NHS to help those who want to quit smoking. I have never smoked so, I feel a bit of a fraud trying to help people to stop smoking. Perhaps there would be something like this available to you through your medical care.

To help you quit smoking try to change the activities that you do that prompt you to have a cigarette, for example if you always have a cigarette after dinner, do an activity where it would be impossible for you to smoke.

Good luck.

I also envy non smokers! I have to quit also, due to medical condition that smoking irritates, just been waiting for the time to come that I WANT to quit, not for my Dr or anyone else, but I know i have to want to quit for me, I am getting to that point! Good luck to both of us!

I smoked for 14yrs and quit 12yrs ago (I was up to 2pks. a day). I went to hypnosis. I wanted to do it for me and I took about a month to prepare myself to quit. I cut back so by the time I went to the hypnosis, I was down to only smoking 3 cigs a day. It is tough at first but it is definately worth it! As long as you are doing it for yourself you can can do it. Break your habit cigs 1st( in the car, after dinner etc.) Good luck!!

I quit cold turkey three and a half years ago. It was hard, but I took it day by day (actually hour by hour at first) and chewed LOTS of sugarless gum. DH quit using Zyban and never went back. I think some type of support group really helps. I belonged to one on-line...it REALLY helped! I know there are a few out there and it helps to have people support you who are going through the same thing. Good for you for wanting to quit. I know you can do it!
