I encountered a slight problem this weekend at DLR...

Not really a small problem (maybe for some) I just want the whole board to know, that if you are a local in the orange county area and or near it and you renew your pass via online, or send in your renewal papers for the month to month payment plan, just know that once you submit your renewal (even if it’s by mail) they immediately start to process the renewal for your AP as soon as they receive it.

So to let me tell you what happened so it makes more sense to you:

Now I have never had a run into a situation like this before, but I renewed my AP online, but I had to print the info and paperwork to sign and return with my credit card info as I am doing the monthly payment plan this year, well my actual expiration date is not till end of October, but I wanted to get a head start and just get it done. So I sent in the info that I needed to the processing center last Monday. I went to DLR this Sunday (yesterday), when I went to enter the gates of DCA, they told me the current pass that had (the one they scanned) was not valid because my pass has was renewed and so once that happens it cancels the current one out, well I told the CM that I did not have my “new” pass yet, that is was coming in the mail and I was waiting for it, well not a big deal as she told me to go to guest services and or the ticket booths because they have a special ticket for me that shows that I am current as a AP holder but that I don’t have my “new” pass yet. And they also told me that anytime between now and when I get my “new” pass in the mail if I want to enter the parks I need to go and get this special ticket. And if I need a discount on anything, I have to use that special ticket, but i still needed to show them the old pass with my photo id.

So all in all, they do process the renewals like super fast once they receive them, so beware if you renew my internet or mail just now that you will have to get a special ticket to enter the parks till your “new” renewed pass arrives!

And oh yeah after I got my special ticket, it was no hassle at all to get in the parks!
 
That's good to know. Especially for people who are driving to Anaheim for a overnight trip, versus locals, and could be worried if thier new pass didn't arrive before they had to drive or fly.

Sounds like it just caused you a quickly resolved hick up.

I had totally forgotten about it but after reading Funball's post, I remembered that this same exact thing happened to my friends last December. They did the same thing with renewing online, etc., and they had trouble at the gate trying to get in. So a CM had to come and override this or that or the other, or had to enter something in "the system," and it finally all worked out.

So then the time you had left on your old pass was wasted???I assume so because you were getting the special tickets on the new pass account, right??Or does the new pass extend the extra time you had left on the old pass and adds it to the new one??
 
i think i get extra days. i think that is what they said...it was complicated and you guys are lucky i rememerbed the details that i did....lol
 
Oh, bad memories! :lmao: This happened to me in August. The girl at the turnstile had to call a supervisor over who just asked if I had renewed online. (I was that annoying person holding up the line this time!) He then told her to let me in. I was told I only had to go to the passport processing center if I wanted something for my discount. Which I did, we were only there to go to CO for dinner. I'll keep that in mind next year! Apparently we get all new numbers assigned when we renew.

They got my papers in the mail on Thurs, processed on Friday and I had the passes on Monday. I found all that out while at the processing center waiting on my temp card.
 
ok i mailed them on september 27th or maybe the next day. its already processed cause my curent one i have is no longer valid. so u think i will get mine soon?
 
yeah the special card is the temp card. i got that but i have to get another one for friday--im doing the electronica review lol

Good point that your original is already inactive...means they *have* processed you! I'm sure you'll get it by then. Ours came in a blue envelope.
 
ok anoter question.. does this mean i don't have the parking is my "old" is inactive? or do they still let me park???? i didn't have a problem parking on sundy. but i did have a problme getting into parks.....does it not matter since i got the "P" on my old pass.?
 
Did you get it today? Thought about it as we were there tonight...should've asked a parking attendant. I'd still just tell them you renewed online. We've all encountered the same problem so it's not new to them
 
uknow i called and they said 1 week to 2 week shope soon i get it.. as they have charged my credit card the first paymnt!! im excited about that.. now i want my dang card!!
 
ok i just want to say after the slight hassle i had that sunday, i got my "new" pass, it came yesterday. and it took a week like they said! so really in retrospec its not a hassle to do it on line, just need to know that your current pass will be "canceled out"..

Do you have the envelope it came from? I'm wondering what the mailing time was? Did it ship from OC to OC or from somewhere far away?
