It keeps showing "Communication Error" and I am connected to the internet but then it talks about proxy settings and thats where it loses me  Did anyone else have this problem? Can you please help?

Thanks!

Are you using a Mac? It won't work on mine. I had to get one of my kids to download it to their PC.

Are you using Norton Internet Security, Zone Alarm, or something else that uses a firewall?

The firewall can prevent a program like DING from accessing the Internet.

I sometimes get communications errors after my computer has gone to sleep. If that is the case, right click the SW DING icon in the system tray and choose Connect Now.

I think you could also get this error if you are using a dialup connection as opposed to broadband (cable, DSL).

If you give me more specifics I may be able to help.

sorry .. just wondering what DING is?

DING is a small computer program developed by Southwest Airlines. It alerts users when SWA is offering fare specials.

With the software, users do not have to continually check the Southwest web site.

BTW, someone earlier asked about using a Mac. DING is a PC-only application.

Try temporarily disabling Norton Internet Security (by right clicking on Norton icon at the bottom of your screen and choosing DISABLE). THEN right click on Southwest icon and click CONNECT NOW...that works for me. Even tho I added DING to my allowed sites on Norton, it will not work unless I disable Norton Internet Security. Hope that helps you.

I was also going to suggest that you right click on the SW icon and then click on connect now. That always makes my Communication Error message go off of there. Everytime I log off my internet and back on it is up again, but I just right click and then click on connect now and it goes away each time I log on. Someone told me the same thing and said it has something to do with the computer hibernating or being logged off. :flower:
