I don't want to wait more than 40 minutes for any ride

I agree with others RD and FP+, a good plan will do wonders. We never wait in any line over 30 minutes, and we always hit all of our favorite attractions.

We have taken two Xmas Week trips and never entered a line with a wait time over 20 minutes. We are rope drop people and made good use of fastpasses. Accomplished nearly everything we wanted. It helps that my boys are 16 and 19 so we don't wait for characters.

We almost always go in June or July. The longest I've ever waited for anything was about 50 minutes on POTC when it broke down. We were *thisclose* to boarding, there was AC, and it was storming outside, so we stuck it out and waited. We go early at rope drop and can ride almost anything with little to no wait in the morning. Lunch, afternoon break, then back to the park at night where we use our FP+. After Wishes you can ride a lot with low wait times too. Have a good plan and you will be fine!

20 minutes in June? I hope you like:
treehouse
tiki birds
country bears
presidents
paddle boat
philharmagic
teacups
carousel of progress
stitch

They will all be <20 minutes

June is definitely crowded and wait times can get long, but you can do more than just the treehouse, teacups, etc...

A lot of posts have mentioned doing RD followed by FP+. I agree with this strategy, which we employ often. But if you're doing that, you have to make sure that you know what other things you can do after you use the last FP+. The new ability to book another FP+ from MDE makes things easier now, but you'll still want to have a plan of what to ride after you use up your 3 FP+. Also have a good strategy for what to do between your FP+ times. That's sometimes a challenge for us.

Us either. Never understand how people wait 2-3 hours for a 5 minute ride. IMO, that's insane. No way, no how.

We never waited more than 20 minutes on every trip we did. The only exception was when my DD6 asked her dad to do TT for a 3rd time one evening. They waited 60 minutes but then we did rider switch because my youngest was too short to ride it and she was able to do it again right after with me with no wait. Next time we go she will be 7yo and will go in the single rider line with her dad instead if she wants to do a repeat.

To avoid long waits we do RD (especially at MK) and do all the headliners first thing in the morning. The busier times are left for minor rides and show. I always schedule our FP+ for the afternoon. Also, since we visit WDW every year now, we don't have the need to do everything. I make sure we all hit our favourites, our must-do, and the rest is considered bonus. Makes our trips much more enjoyable then when we were trying do see and do everything.

We won't generally wait longer than 20 minutes for any ride or attraction, but we don't quite go during peak season. I think the suggestions of rope drop and late nights and using EMH are probably your best bet. Definitely use FP for the harder to get attractions first as well.

These, along with Peoplemover and Tom Sawyer Island are options that, combined with rope drop and FP, can make for a full day with short waits.

I don't like waiting longer than 20 minutes. Most I've ever waited was 35 (a boat on Jungle cruise broke down, had to be unloaded, taken out of service and reloaded right before our turn). I always use a standard plan from Touring Plans, consult the Touring Plans crowd calendar to chose my park, do rope drop, and use fast passes. My methods even worked over Easter Week!
