I dont want to make comparisons....

thats brill, what i lovely friend you have:thumbsup2 hope you enjoy planning you trips:cheer2:

I take some other factors into account which you guys may feel are unimportant..the travel time from the UK to USA..the weather(not as humid in Europe)..I think DLP is great for a short break, say 4/5 days whereas the adventure of 2 weeks in WDW is truely a HOLIDAY. I feel the food at DLP is alot more varied and tastier than WDW..but DH longs for his WDW fried breakfast as he tucks into his bread roll, ham and cheesey start to his DLP day..At the end of the day there is good and great (never negative) depending what you want/like/can afford and I would happily visit both every year if I could.

Wendy:thumbsup2

It seems today is the day all my friends are telling me DLRP is a waste and its just like Chessington World Of Adventures and that i wont want to go back every year.

Having them say that they aint been in the past 5 years and im sure its changed alot since then. Why cant they leave me alone so i can enjoy my excitement.

Im gonna prove them wrong because i know im gonna have a awesome time.

You know what littlemermaid? Until I'd been to DLP for the first time in Feb this year, I would have agreed with your friends. I thought it would be fine for a couple of days, my daughter would have enough to do for that time, and then that would be it - I would have no interest or inclination to go back. How wrong was I???

I'm taking DD back in 6 weeks time, and I'll quite happily take her there again and again until she gets fed up with it - and that could be years away (hopefully :goodvibes ).

I honestly think, if you get in the swing of it, and accept its a different experience, DLP has just as much Disney magic as WDW.

You are right it doesn't matter how old you are the magic is there for anyone who wants to feel it WDW or DLP..the minute you put that first step onto ANY Main Street it starts and it's still tingling when you step back through your front door at home. My H (no D today) is so taken with Disney after 2 DLP trips and 1 to WDW and he was always the big tough Dad with more interesting things to do on holiday. Now he wears his Disney T-shirts and drinks out of his Disney mug 365 days a year..So go on and enjoy DLP,we where there 2 weeks ago and I'm planning DLP for Feb 08 and WDW Aug 08..and H is helping too!

:thumbsup2 :hippie:

thelittlemermaid83~At the end of the day its like everything in life~ it all be what you make of it!! :goodvibes it may not be your friends cup of tea but it least your gunna go and see what us lot are raving on about.I'm sure u'll come back as bigger fan as all of us lol:thumbsup2

It just annoys me when they go on about how "rubbish" it is. Its like they want me to have a rubbish time too.

But i know i wont :D
I remember when i last went WDW as i approached the castle i wanted to cry lol, but i didnt incase my friend thought i was a loser lol

Dont let them bother you maybe their jealous lol i would be hehe, yes that first sighting of the castle is wonderful, it makes me tingle:cloud9: hehe.Hey and even better at DLP you can walk around it.

Oh i've just spotted that i'm a now Mouseketeer how exciting :cheer2: lol (or it says i need to get off these boards and stop posting so many things :scared: lol

yay mouseketeer hehe

I think my friends are jealous plus they dont love Disney as much as i do so they will never fully appreciate the magic. I think all they wanted to do was go on the rides, im there for more than the rides.

Thankyou for all your nice comments

good for you hehe enjoy your planning,

you'll be a mouseketeer in no time too hehe, you only 20posts off hehe

As bluegirl says, DLP is nothing like Chessington - and I would say that has always been the case!! DLP is not "rubbish" - it's a lovely place :cloud9:

DLP is awesome. I've been to both Resorts in the States and Paris. Like your original post.... you can't compare. But i have more fun in Paris than the other resorts. Its far more breathtaking..... The Castle, space mountain, Big Thunder....... You can tell the the imagineers were working over time on this resort. With the bonus of having paris 30 mins away whats not to get excited about.

and ToT next year...... its up there with WDW

Believe me I went to Chessington last month and DLRP is nothing like it. I think considering Chessington shuts through winter that they would at least repaint most of the park as it is looking very old & tired and for the prices they charged I was shocked.

There is so much more to do at Disney too as they have shows etc so you can take your pick at what you want to do.

Let me chime in. I grew up at DL n California, visited DLP 49 times, and I have spent 5 weeks at WDW. We were at WDW last December and DLP in June. We had a much better time at DLP.

DLP is smaller, does not have as much choice, entertainment or fireworks. But it has far more magic and quality than WDW IMHO. There is no such thing as a perfect Disney resort.

They key is to eat at table service restaurants, do not bother with characters unless at character meals or the hotels during park hours, and stand your ground in queues. If you do these simple things, you will have a better time at DLP.

If you like Sea World, there is an excellent aquarium at the Val D'Europe, and a Dolphin Show at Parc Asterix 30 miles away.

Go to DLP and make up your own mind
