I don't want to go

I feel your pain. I know where you are coming from. This past October 46 of my in-laws all met in Mexico to celebrate my Grandmother-in-law's 90th birthday. When my DH told me about the trip over 18 months before the trip, I said "No way am I going." Well, I did. I decided that my family (dh, ds, dd and myself)was going to be the audience not the attraction. It worked. My kids were golden. My husband (his family) was not that stressed and I had the time of my life. Enjoyed every minute.

Go. Just tell yourself it will not be perfect. No one is going to act perfect all the time. Enjoy. Make the best of it. This is your vacation too. If people want to act poorly on their vacation that is on them.

Have a great trip......twk

Here is an idea for your next trip. Leave the dysfunctional part of your family at home. My sister and I are. We are leaving husbands, other sisters, sons, etc behind and just going with my daughter. It will save lots of headaches on the trip and belive me, they get over it quick.

The trips been booked for over a year. We leave Monday, spend the week at WDW, sail on Magic on Sat.

It's a big family trip, but it's the typical dysfunctional family from hell. Foks have already started fighting, sisters not talking to each other etc. etc.

It is going to be a Dysfunctional Diseny Disaster.

I think I may just stay home.

I know that this sounds a bit odd, but all familys are a big stressed when the time comes to leave for the BIG VACATION.

Just take a few deep breaths and say, "When You Wish Upon a Star".....it helps!

Hugs,
Rae

Thanks for all the words of encouragement.

The bags are all packed and we leave for the airport in the morning.

I realized that there is a huge rift that has formed between my sisters and they are both trying to draw everyone else into their battle. I just have decided that I am going to have fun and stay out of it.

I did a four day DCL trip a few years back and had a great time. I am going to put my faith in the Disney Magic.

For those of you on the cruise with us, if you see two women in their forties getting in a massive food fight in Parrot Cay, that would be us and I apologize to all of you in advance :earsboy:

take three steps to the left and they will be gone!!!!
And the most important part is saying: "Luv Ya, Mean It" :teeth: when things get too tense, then let everyone go their own way to calm down for a while.

OK here is what you really need to do. Read "DelsWife's" trip report. You want to read about a couple of families gone nuts!! This will give you courage to make it through your trip. Its 40 some installments long. You can read it faster if you don't ready everyones replies (even though those are fun too).

If I ever read anything funnier, then it had to have been in a movie! That was hysterical - now just remember, the one who gets to eat the most food at the food fight wins!

Go Pluto!
