"I Don't Wanna Meet Mickey In a Frumpin' Poncho!" An August 2011 TR! COMPLETE 11/30

Enjoying your TR. Can't wait to start your next one. SSR looks very pretty. I've never seen it before. At WDW right now. Just got done watching Wishes from our balcony at WL

Thanks! SSR was gorgeous! How awesome that you're in WDW! I've always wanted to stay at WL, it's beautiful!

I love Bus Voice Guy too. Now that Monorail Voice Guy and TTA Voice Guy are gone, Bus Voice Guy is all I have left. :sad1:

That pizza you got at WPE is mine & my mom's favorite too. We get it every time. Actually on our 2010 trip we actually had it three different times, and had leftovers each time, so we were eating that pizza like almost every day. LOL. It's just that good... but everything at WPE is!

The lighting at SSR is SO awesome! I've never been there but it seems like a really serene place. That lobby reminds me of 1900 Park Fare with the horse and all. So pretty!

I know! We have to cling to him for dear life.

Really? AHHH it's so amazing! I would get it every day if I could. Seriously. If I stay at SSR again I'm just gonna walk to DTD to get one EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. SOOOO good. <3

It really is! It's such a peaceful and stunning resort. I love it! Yeah, 1900 Park Fare is themed really similarly!

haha I love the sister dance party! DTD is so fun at night with all the music playing everywhere... it's like one giant party.

"I just wanted to tell him that he could bump into me anytime!" In the event of this happening again... PLEASE say it and report back. I live for making attractive guys feel awkward due to my frumpy advances.

I'm excited to hear about the life changing breakfast!

Hahaha we had so much fun! I love DTD nights! party:

Hahahaha okay, I will. That would be so funny. I'm a frump, so I should flaunt it at every oppurtunity!

That's coming up soon!!!

:yay:HAPPY BIRTHDAY!:yay:

Thank you so much!!!

Happy Birthday Kristen! Live from the Friendship boat.

Thanks so much!!!

Wolfgang Puck's Express looks amazing. It's been on my GO THERE list for years, but I never have. Since I'm staying at French Quarter and it's only a boat ride away, I'm FINALLY gonna do it this year. I'm forcing myself. It's a must-do.

Saratoga Springs is really pretty. I love the color scheme.

Sister dance parties are the best :thumbsup2

Ugh why don't I ever bump into attractive people? It's always super sweaty people and it makes me feel gross. Life's just not fair. :sad2: :rotfl:

It IS! You absolutely HAVE to go, especially because you'll be so close! It's to die for. Really. Everything is SO good! It should be on Stacey's list, I swear.

Me too! It just added to the peaceful atmosphere.

They really are! They're so much funnn!! :thumbsup2

Maybe you will this trip! I think I just got lucky that day!

:cheer2:HAPPY FRUMPIN BIRTHDAY:cheer2: Do I see a muppet/frump cake in your future (or past);) I was wondering if you had any Texas Roadhouses up north? They have amazing bread, like it's almost sweet tasting but like normal bread-y at the same time? Anyways, it made me think of you and Jess with your disney breads haha it's close but not the same because it's not in Disney. I just rambled on about bread...:sad2: food is life

THANK YOU!!! It was actually an Ariel cake! YES WE DO! There's one like 20 minutes from my house and Jess and I are OBSESSED with it! That bread is AMAZING! So worth rambling about.

Happy Birthday, Kristen!

We watched "The Muppets" in your honor tonight. LOL

(And you share a birthday with my Dad!)

Thank you!!!

Aww thank you! It's my movie of life!

Aww really? Well tell him happy belated birthday!

Happy, happy birthday Kristen!! I hope you had the most magical of days!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I did! :goodvibes

happy birthday Kristen

I've read all your TR and seen all your videos. I'm a fan ! You and your friends look very beautiful. I'm french and i'm not sure to understand "frump" !

Can you explain me ? Thank you.

Thanks! So glad you're a fan! A frump is basically a Disney-lover who goes crazy when they're there! No problem!

YES!!! All caught up! :woohoo: Sorry, I've just been catching up on TRs for the past two days and now I'm almost done. Moving on...

Looks like you had a nice few travel days enjoying what the South has to offer. Love Chick-Fil-A and I'm surprised they don't have it in New York... does that mean when I'm in NYC I won't be able to have some Chick-Fil-A for lunch? WAH! ;) :thumbsup2 to Chipotle, I've heard a lot of good things about it, really need to have some one of these days!

Hahaha yay! Welcome back!

Yeah we definitely did! I don't know...you'd have to see! I don't have one near me! Chipotle is SOOO good though! You need to try it!

So interesting to see more pictures from how people getting to Disney in a car, must try that someday (wonder how lost I would get then... lol)! Your room at Coronado looks great and the place itself looks great. Definitely want to stay there someday! :thumbsup2 to Hammock time and PanCHItos  Whenever I say that now I can't help but say it with emphasis on the CHI lol

YAY! Time for DTD and Saratoga Springs! DTD... I just love that place so :thumbsup2 to that and especially to getting Disney charms for the Pandora bracelets, if only my sisters and mom did that, I would gain SOOO much respect for them. Yeah, those are not for me, not my style lol I stick with pins Haha And Saratoga Springs is one of my dream resorts, so beautiful! :)

LOL @ you running into attractive people and your epic dancing, I can only imagine how awesome that must've been. :teeth:

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

I actually love driving down! CSR should definitely be on your list!!

Yeah yeah!! Me too! Hahaha they really should. It's an amazing resort!

Hahaha it was just such a great night!

Oh my gosh I just noticed all these comments about your birthday. I think I may be two days late but...

party: HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTEN! party:

Now, you are one year older than me again lol Hope you had a great birthday! (:

Thank you Timmy!!!

Chapter 9- The Breakfast of Frumpians!

August 18th, 2011

Hello there DISers! Sorry for the hiatus, but I've been finishing up my exams and some very exciting things have been going on in my life lately! In Disney news, I'll be in the World with princessallie in exactly 3 weeks! I AM SO EXCITED. Also, I convinced my mom to book a trip for my graduation present! I told her no party, no gifts, just Disney please! So she, Sarah and I will be heading down for my VERY FIRST CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE from December 10th-17th!!!!! I can't WAIT!!! I'm seriously so excited to see all of the decorations and my beautiful Castle all decked out. Now, if any of you are WDW Christmas Vets, please share any and all knowledge that you have! This will be a totally new experience for me! And now, back to the scorching August heat...

We woke up bright and early the next morning, but with no hurry to get to a park. Instead, we had a much-anticipated breakfast ADR to get to! We were ready and at the Casitas bus stop (#2) by 8:15! A bus pulled right up!

We got to the Magic Kingdom at 8:40 and headed straight for my favorite mode of transportation EVER.*

imageure.jpg
*

Nope, not quite.

imagegfn.jpg
*

imagesdt.jpg

There we go! That's right. My monorail. <3 Ahh how I adore thee. Your smell, your stripe, your voice. (This was before they changed it. Ugh.) Por Favor Mantenganse Alejado de las Puertas. <3 EEEEPP.

We boarded our Highway in the Sky and were off! I think the sun was in my eyes for this picture. Ah well, I'm still jubilant on the inside!

imagenks.jpg

We passed some pretty sweet architecture, such as Space Mountain:
imagefjc.jpg

The Contemporary:
imagepyaz.jpg

Bay Lake Tower:
imagepcv.jpg

The Polynesian:
imagevyy.jpg

And the beautiful Grand Floridian:
imageszms.jpg
*

Which one of these resorts were we headed to?? Well, I'll give you a hint:
imagearj.jpg

Please, don't be overwhelmed. I know that it was a very obscure clue. Stop crying! It's not worth it!*

Ah fine, I'll just tell you. The Polynesian was our dining destination!

We got there at almost exactly 9:00 and checked in right away. Here is a very excited Sarah awaiting her escort:
imageyraw.jpg

Now where we dining? Kona or Ohana??

The answer is Kona Cafe! I had heard Jess' dad absolutely RAVE about it since their family trip in February, and I knew we just had to try it!

We were seated within a couple minutes of checking in, and we had a table on the right side of the restaurant and right at the front. It gave us a lovely view of the Great Ceremonial House and a great location to take in the heavenly smell of it. Here's our table:*
imagegga.jpg

Sorry it's a mess, but I actually took that pic after we were done eating.*

Our server's name was Shaunda and she came over right away to take our drink orders! I don't remember what Sarah ordered, but I got the one, the only:
imageyqv.jpg

FRUNCH JUICE!!! Or as it is known around the Poly, Lilikoi Juice! Man this stuff is good. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's a blend of Passion, Orange and Guava fruit juices, and it's basically like a glimpse at what Jesus himself probably drinks. It's THAT good.

We also ordered a press pot to share. We're all coffee fans in this family.
imageqotw.jpg

This was really good! Probably some of the freshest coffee I've ever had! The flavor had a lot of depth without lacking its refreshing factor. It was just lovely!*

Along with our drink orders came these lovely accompaniments to the entrees we had ordered:
imagezvi.jpg

Butter, syrup and the most amazing strawberry sauce in the WORLD were their names. After that we just chatted about our plans for the day, and in no time our food was making its way to our table!

Sarah ordered Minnie's French Toast from the kids menu:
imagexiuq.jpg
*

The best way I can describe this is that it's Tonga Toast for sane people. Seriously. It was loaded with cinnamon and sugar goodness, but without being the size of the Biebs'*tour bus.

Now for the monster:
imageeydt.jpg

imageeww.jpg

YEAH. THIS is Tonga Toast, people. Scott ordered this, but we all ended up sharing our entrees. This was probably my least favorite of the three (not including Sarah's- she ate all hers. Not really the sharing type...) but only because I'm not a huge fan of a) warm bananas and b) lots of cinnamon-sugar. I know, I'm so weird. But everyone else LOVED it! I thought that it was really great with the strawberry sauce on it, but without that I wasn't a HUGE fan. Aside from that, though, we finished the whole thing between the four of us! You should definitely order this if you love cinnamon and/or bananas!! Scott really enjoyed it, because he loves those things. It was SUPER filling though.

My mom ordered the Samoan, which was my second favorite entree.*
imagezts.jpg

imagekev.jpg

Wow! This is so good! I know it's not as popular as Tonga Toast, but it should be! It's AMAZING! I would definitely order this for myself, if only I could get past the Epicness of my entree of choice. This is basically poached eggs with smoky pulled pork hash on top, as well as fresh watercress and hollandaise sauce. It is INCREDIBLE. This is the salt-lover's breakfast for sure. We were all fighting over it! The eggs were perfectly poached and the pulled pork was melt-in-your-mouth fantastic. The hollandaise contrasted nicely with the crisp watercress, which lightened the whole entree, which might have seemed too heavy without it. We all thoroughly enjoyed this and I highly recommend it!

And now, last but most CERTAINLY not the least, my entree.*
imagespf.jpg

imagejjf.jpg

THE MACADAMIA PINEAPPLE PANCAKES OF LOOOOVVEEE.

Oh my gosh. These were PHENOMENAL. The pancakes were so fluffy and light, and there were macadamia nuts both inside and on top of those babies. There was also fresh pineapple ALL over them, which was lovely. This was so unique and yet so delicious! Everyone was fighting over these too! They were so filling, so I was very willing to share with everyone. We all loved them!!! I am so ordering these next time I go. They're incredible.*

Now, being the TOTAL food mooch that I am, I sort of borrowed some of Mom and Scott's food too, since they got to have some of mine. My plate ended up looking like this:
imagelur.jpg

Have you ever seen so much delicious food in one place in all your life!?!? I haven't. That was the ultimate breakfast for me. I basically rolled out of there, but it was SO worth it!! I gobbled most of that up, and I left there a very happy frump.*

This breakfast was totally life-changing. Kona Cafe is now my mom's all-time favorite breakfast place in Disney, and it's on the fave restaurant list for all of us. I have an ADR there for all three of my upcoming trips. We just can't get enough!

After we were finished stuffing ourselves and paid, we headed out to explore the tropics!

Yummmm Kona looks amazing!! Your pancakes look to die for!!! Love macadamia nuts and pineapple!! Definitely putting this on the Must Do list for my next trip!!

Wow Kona looks amazing for breakfast, I love dinner there but after seeing your pics I definitely want to try it for breakfast sometime too.

Your pancakes look delicious:goodvibes

Welp. Now I'm craving those pancakes. WHY ARE THEY SO GOOD!?!?!

And hmmm I don't know anything about Disney at Christmas. OH WAIT. jk. READ MY TRIP REPORT. You already do? Oh perfect. You're all set! :thumbsup2

I've been a lurker for quite some time as well as on Jess's (the Frump TRs were so funny!). I just had to say that the breakfast at Kona looks SO GOOD! My husband and I ate there during our Disneymoon last month for dinner, and we were floored by how good it was. The Samoan and your pancakes look like the perfect combo to share to have that mix of sweet and salty. I'm drooling here at 12:44 in the morning and wishing I could be back at WDW for some breakfast ADRs (never had a breakfast ADR EVERRR!!!).

Yay for Disney during the holidays!!! I love going then! Definitely take time out to check out the resort decorations, especially the Grand Floridian. The gingerbread house is amazing! Also, of course, the Osborne Lights. Just spectacular. All of the little details that Disney adds for the holidays are really cool too.

I love love LOVE Kona for breakfast, it's definitely one of our favorites! You guys had the right idea, sharing your entrees. It's hard to decide between all of the options there!

I think Kona is the reason my husband puts up with my Disney obsession. Every time we go he wants to eat there

I practically just ate my computer screen. That definitely was the breakfast of champions :thumbsup2 Yay for a Christmas Disney trip! :cool1:

I’m so happy that you get to go to WDW at Christmas time. I am going for Thanksgiving and am SO excited!

The monorail <3 <3

KONA LOOKS AMAZING. Now I’m hungry.

I just can’t get over how good the food looks.

AHHH I’m so excited for you that you get to go during Christmastime! It is seriously so gorgeous! You’re going to love it! I think the time when your going is really great, too, because you should be able to avoid most of the holiday crowds that come in for Christmas week! :santa:

Wonderful monorail pictures! :thumbsup2

Haha hmm…that’s a tough one! ;)

That sounds like a perfect breakfast! I really enjoyed the Tonga Toast, but I remember feeling like eating that thing was my job. It required so much effort! I’ve never had the actual Kona macadamia nut pancakes, but I made my own version for my mom for mother’s day and they were pretty great! Your plate looks AMAZING! :cloud9:

YAY for your Christmas trip! You're going to have such a wonderful time! I can't wait to hear all about it.

YAY monorail! YAY Polynesian! YAY Kona! Your breakfast looks delicious. I just ate dinner two hours ago and now I'm starving again thanks to these pics. I think the DISboards are gonna make me gain more weight than an actual trip to WDW does. :rotfl:

Gah, you and Jess are both killing me with simultaneous Kona updates! I want those macadamia pancakes NOW!!!

Congrats on the Christmas trip! My advice is to do all the more popular things earlier in your trip b/c the parks were EMPTY when we were there Dec 5-14, but I heard it got crowded right after we left. I know you already know this, but 100% do not miss the holiday ending of Illuminations or the Osborne Lights, whatever you do. If you read my TR update on it you know the CP package is not so great, but the CP itself is so beautiful. Are you doing the Christmas party? We didn't, but I want to next time, it looks so cute. Besides that I'd just say make sure you check out the different decorations at the resorts. Even places I didn't expect to be that great were so awesome, like Old Key West, so check out as much as you can. :)

Kona is my favorite place to have breakfast. OH MAN IT'S JUST THE BEST. I have dreams about that juice in which I marry the juice and go on a honeymoon with the juice and live a long and happy life...with the juice. Or something. My point is, I LOVE IT.

"Tonga Toast for sane people" LOL.

As I just wrote on Jess' TR... these Kona pics are almost painful. I AM SO HUNGRY NOW.

"all three of my upcoming trips." I don't know how you and Jess even function with all these trips. I would just pass out into a coma due to excitement.

So happy for you for your Christmas trip!
The breakfast at Kona looks amazing. Out of the three choices you showed, I would pick the macadamia pancakes. The tonga toast looks like it has too much sugar for me. You were seated at the same table that we just had. I had to sit with my back to the view so I could watch for my sons surprise birthday cake.

Yummmm Kona looks amazing!! Your pancakes look to die for!!! Love macadamia nuts and pineapple!! Definitely putting this on the Must Do list for my next trip!!

It WAS! I'm obsessed with that place. It's such a gem. My pancakes were soooo good! You definitely have to try it!

It is! I love dinner there too but breakfast is just a whole different experience! I love the atmosphere of the Poly in the morning. You should definitely try it!

They were incredible! :goodvibes

And hmmm I don't know anything about Disney at Christmas. OH WAIT. jk. READ MY TRIP REPORT. You already do? Oh perfect. You're all set! :thumbsup2

I have no idea. But they're amazing. It's really unfair that they aren't accessible to me at all times.

HAHAHA love you princess. (: Yes, yours and Lia's TR's are like the bible to this adventure. I've been taking notes!

I've been a lurker for quite some time as well as on Jess's (the Frump TRs were so funny!). I just had to say that the breakfast at Kona looks SO GOOD! Welcome out of lurkdom! I think I lurked on your TR's in the past as well! Now we expect comments on every update ya know...hahaha. Thank you! Kona was AMAZING! Dinner is awesome too, and something we usually do every trip. I love sweet and salty combos so those two were definitely the perfect entrees! The Tonga Toast was just a little TOO sweet for me. Really? Never?? You'll have to make one for Kona for your next trip!!!

Yay for Disney during the holidays!!! I love going then! Definitely take time out to check out the resort decorations, especially the Grand Floridian. The gingerbread house is amazing! I am SO excited!!!! I definitely can't wait to check out all the resorts and the Osbourne Lights! AHHH SO EXCITED.

Me and you both sista! It's so good!!!! Whenever more than one thing looks great, we all get something different and just share. It works out really well!

I think Kona is the reason my husband puts up with my Disney obsession. Every time we go he wants to eat there

Hahaha really?! I mean, it really is THAT good. I always want to eat there too! Definietly a great bribe!

I practically just ate my computer screen. That definitely was the breakfast of champions :thumbsup2 Yay for a Christmas Disney trip! :cool1:

Hahaha I'm trying to restrain myself as well. It sure was! Thanks! I can't WAIT!!!!

YUM!
That is all I'm going to write! :rotfl:

That's all you really need to write! :lmao:

I’m so happy that you get to go to WDW at Christmas time. I am going for Thanksgiving and am SO excited!

The monorail <3 <3

KONA LOOKS AMAZING. Now I’m hungry.

I just can’t get over how good the food looks.

That's awesome! I know, I can't wait!!!! Where are you guys staying?

Gotta love it. <33

It IS!!!

Everything was fantastic!

:thumbsup2

Haha hmm…that’s a tough one! ;)

Aww thanks Joni! I seriously have been jumping-out-of-my-skin excited since we booked it!!! We definitely wanted to avoid the crowds, so hopefully it'll be pretty light when we're there! I'm so excited! :santa:

Thanks!!

Hahaha, I'm so great at clues! :P

:cloud9:

It really was! It definitely is a lot of work to eat the Tonga Toast. I think it might have been a little too sweet for that early in the morning. The pancakes were awesome and much more my speed. How nice of you to make her them! I bet they tasted just like Kona's! My mom wasn't too happy because my brother and I were both in WDW on Mother's Day and she wasn't...oops! Ahh that plate was like the breakfast apocalypse! But in a good way!

:rotfl:

I can't even believe that I'm going!!! It's gonna be amazing. I will most definitely be writing about that one!!!

YAY all of the greatest Disney things in one update! Besides school bread and the Muppets. My breakfast was quite fantastic. I probably looked like Taz while I was eating because it was just that good. :P I always feel like I gain weight while looking at food pictures too...ah well. It's worth it!

KARA YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY SO SOON!!!!!

Gah, you and Jess are both killing me with simultaneous Kona updates! I want those macadamia pancakes NOW!!!

Hahaha I know! We didn't even plan that! Everyone is having pancake cravings all over the DIS now! Oops! :P

Even places I didn't expect to be that great were so awesome, like Old Key West, so check out as much as you can. :)

Ahh Lia this is so great. Thanks so much for all these tips!!! I swear, your's and Jess' TR's are like my bible for planning this trip! I definitely think we're gonna do MVMCP though! I don't know when I'll get back in December so it's kind of a must. I can't wait to check out all the resorts! I made lots of resort ADR's for that purpose hehe.

Kona is my favorite place to have breakfast. OH MAN IT'S JUST THE BEST. I have dreams about that juice in which I marry the juice and go on a honeymoon with the juice and live a long and happy life...with the juice. Or something. My point is, I LOVE IT.

"all three of my upcoming trips." I don't know how you and Jess even function with all these trips. I would just pass out into a coma due to excitement.

Mine too! It's amazing!!!!! Ahh the juice...I would be in a long and committed relationship with the juice if I could too. But that's me and school bread...ahh Disney food. Y U SO GOOD?!

Hahaha but really! It was! It tasted very similar except it didn't have bananas and it was a normal-sized portion!

Me too. Even hearing about it makes me hungry. Must go find food...

Hahahaha I basically am. Every day I'm just like RE RE RE!!!!

Thanks! I can't WAIT!!!! Kona is so incredible. The pancakes were definitely the best! There was totally too much sugar on the Tonga Toast...not my style. Haha were you really? It's a great table! How nice of you to surprise him with a cake! I bet he loved that!

Chapter 10- "Aruba, Jamaica, Oooh I Wanna Take Ya..."

August 18th, 2011

After we left Kona, we went to look around Trader Jack's, which is on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House.

While in there, I bought a postcard to send to Jess, and another to send to my cousin Julie. It was my cousin's birthday that week and she was so jealous that we were going to Disney that I thought the least I could do was to send her one.*

I also spotted this adorable notebook, and I immediately thought of Kara. She LOVES Marie and I thought this would be the perfect trip journal for her!

imagezeu.jpg

We also found this Goofy antenna topper, which Sarah bought for Scott to put on his car.

imagejte.jpg

He loved it! After that, we decided to head downstairs and outside to explore the Poly grounds.

imagetnf.jpg

Scott took this picture of Mom, Sarah and I and it's one off my favorite pictures of us. It looks so professional!
imageuogi.jpg
*

I love that waterfall!!

This pic of me looks a little funny because the light was kind of awkward, but I was totally falling in love with the Polynesian!*
imagevli.jpg

So was this little guy!
imagenzq.jpg

We made our way over to the Poly beach, and we passed the outdoor entrance to Captain Cook's.
imageqaso.jpg

We crossed this super cool bridge that I hadn't ever noticed before. It's so cool! *The Polynesian really feels like an island or something. It actually kind of reminded me of Neverland with this bridge:
imagexnro.jpg

Right? I can just see Peter Pan and Captain Hook battling it out over there.*

We came across some gorgeous tropical flowers and I went into artsy mode with the camera:
imagerkf.jpg

imagejxs.jpg

imagevsi.jpg

Aren't they so pretty! I definitely want tropical bouquets at my wedding if I get married in the summer.

We were totally tempted to jump in the pool that day! It wasn't that hot out yet, but it looked so fun! That volcano waterslide looks so cool!
imagerfn.jpg

imagexey.jpg

imagehna.jpg

I love zero entry pools. They're awesome. That way the adults can swim and still watch their kids splash around in the really shallow parts. :thumbsup2 to you Disney! They think of everything.

We walked over to the beach, where there were people enjoying the Florida sunshine and the gorgeous views:

Where are you guys staying?

Well it's a little confusing! We will be there November 22-28th.
We have DVC (the Wilderness Lodge is our home resort) and we could only get two nights at the WL (booking 11 months out) and two nights at Saratoga Springs, booking 7 months out. Craziness, I know!

So we'll be at SSR the 22-24th.
And the WL the 24-26th.

Just a few weeks ago, we extended our vacation two extra days. So from the 26-28th we are staying at the Art of Animation!

So it's going to be a crazy vacation with all of the resort switching but I can't WAIT to see all of the Christmas decorations!

I used to be obsessed with Marie when I was little. That journal is ADORABLE! It totally is perfect for Kara!

The Poly is such an incredible resort.

I love the picture of you, your mom, and Sarah! It does look very professional.

Your flower pictures are beautiful!
