I Don't Understand...

Matter of preference. I like MK, Epcot and AK but I do not like DHS. It happen that DHS(MGM back then) was a first park we even attended and I had a thought "Disney is so not for us". Something about this park does not make want to come back, although we do love rides there, the feel of the park in general does not work for us. Some people have same feeling about MK or Epcot. To each its own.

Isn't it funny, CP is one of our favorite meals (though we've only done breakfast there) in all of Disney. We make a point of having the early breakfast at CP every time we go to MK. Last summer we spent 4 days in MK, and will spend 5 there this summer.

CP was the worst meal of your trip, and it seems that you weren't that thrilled with MK.

DHS is your favorite park, we enjoy it, but it's a toss up between MK, and EP for our favorite.

For us, the worst meal in Disney World was the Electric Umbrella in Future World in Epcot.

Just out of curiosity, what was your favorite restaurant in the world?

BTW, I'm not trying to say you are wrong, just pointing out how something that was horrible for one family was terrific for another family. It is very likely that the food you got there was no different than what we got, just different tastes, we happened to like it, and you didn't. I guess that is why there are so many different restaurants, and attractions at Disney World.

That makes me wonder if there are people who actually enjoy eating at the Electric Umbrella. I haven't seen any posts here on the DIS that I can recall saying it was good, though I've read quite a few bad stories about it.

I just didn't like the food at crystal palace for dinner, it was very plain and bland to me (and coming from me it must be bad because I usually like plain and bland). On our trip I can't say really what my favourite was, we went to Crystal Palace, Mama Melrose, Ohana, Boma, Le Cellier, Coral Reef, and Maya Grill. All of them except the Crystal Palace and Mama Melrose were good. Ohana was great and we had a view of hallowishes, Boma was great, Le Cellier was good (although we had been there before so it wasn't as special as Ohana and Boma which was our first time), Coral Reef was good (they gave my wife raw fish the first try but the second try it was good and I had some really good appricot short ribs), Maya Grill was good too (the most amazing oil and herb dip they have at the beginning of the meal, we got the recipe and tried to recreate it at home but it wasn't the same). We also did a bunch of quick services for lunch and those were pretty good too but definately my favourite quick service was Cosmic Rays because the quantity of food was disgustingly awesome. My favourite snack was definately the orange icecream with pineapple float at aloha isle...drooling right now thinking of it.

Who cares...let them hate all they want. It only means less people in the park when I'm there!! :thumbsup2
I know :)
I was just wondering why it's only those two parks that people post threads to hate on.
In no way am I attacking people for their personal preference.

newdeal, glad you enjoyed Ohana. We'll be eating there for the first time this summer, and I'm looking forward to that meal very much. We also enjoyed Coral Reef quite a bit. Cosmic Rays is one of the best CS meals in Disney World. Big portions, a huge selection, and the kids love watching Sonny Eclipse while they eat (well, truth is so do I).

They post those threads for the same reason you posted this one. They feel a certain way and want to discuss it.

Not everyone likes AK or DS.

I love AK, but don't even visit DS most trips. I don't hate it. It's just that there are 7 major theme parks in the area and I like the other 6 better.

We love all the parks, but I think some of it depends on the make-up of your family. We don't have children with us anymore, so DHS (for example) is a 1/2 day park for us since we aren't going to all the shows. As far as AK is concerned, I think it's awesome, but we are still done early.

Because there is much less to do in those parks, they are 1/2 day IMO. DHS got lots of shows and AK got animals and many people just not into that.

I don't hate AK, I'm just more interested in the other 3 theme parks.

I am in no way trying to be snarky or sarcastic when I write this:

You wrote that you don't understand why people say they don't like those parks, but did you actually read those threads talking about it? Perhaps I'm not understanding your post: was it a question or a statement? If you want to understand why they don't like those parks, all you have to do is read the threads. If you just wanted to state that, regardless of their reasons, you'd never understand someone not liking those parks, well that's okay too.

Again, honestly not trying to post this sarcastically. Just saying that if your post was about wanting an explanation, those other threads you mentioned are pretty specific and informative if you want to understand their POV.

I don't hate AK but I don't get the love of it some people have. There's nothing wrong with the park but it just isn't my thing. I would never bring it up but if someone asks I answer with my opinion.

It's like someone said that they didn't like the Crystal Palace. I've always enjoyed the CP but that's just one opinion. Not wrong, not right just what it is.

I think you see a lot more people saying they don't like AK or DHS because there is "less to do" in those parks. I think years from now when/if AK is expanded and a 5th gate is open. You'll see less complaints about AK and a lot of posts saying "the 5th gate is only a 1/2 day park" or "I don't like the 5th gate".

Why does everyone pick on Animal Kingdom or Disney's Hollywood Studios? It's like every time I look on this section of the DIS Boards, there is a thread saying "Anyone NOT like Animal Kingdom" or "Anyone NOT like Hollywood Studios"?

I guess I don't understand why people hate those parks :S

I personally love the theming :thumbsup2

I think it's a kind of "old park vs new park" snobbery.

There are those who turn their noses up at the very thought of WDW, because it wasn't "Walt's" park...

I hated MGM (ugh, I still can't call it DHS) when my son was younger because, really there wasn't much for us to do. Now that he's a "big man" and can ride everything out there, we enjoy it more.

I don't really like AK and I usually only go when first-timers or out-of-towners want to come along. EE is amazing, but other than that, zzzzzz.....Then again I said the same thing about Epcot (hated it!) and Soarin' and Test Track are two of my favorite rides at Disney.

But people hate MK? In my opinion MK is Disney. It's the first and last park we hit on our vacations.

I know why they don't like those parks, but the hate or dislike towards those parks have been appearing more and more often I have been noticing. I completely understand you post :) I understand why they don't like those parks, but I was just wondering why it seems like more and more people are disliking those two parks. There use to be a thread every once in a while, but these threads have been appearing more and more often.

Although I posted a thread similar to this topic :sad2:

The nature of the beast... people need something to complain about.

I truly love every park and I am always changing my mind about which one is my favorite or least favorite. Every park is special in it's own way. :goodvibes

I AGREE!!!! :thumbsup2

I appreciate that hundreds of men and women worked VERY hard and millions were spent for me to enjoy that park. And I always do.

I may like one park better than another, and that's ok. It's my opinion, just like every other person.

And I have to say, when those posters do start a thread that they don't like this and they don't like that... someone else might read that and think that they won't like it either. :confused3

I say... Keep It to Yourself. :rolleyes1

I don't want to know why you thought AK was so boring or that DHS wasn't what you thought it'd be.

Really? Maybe if we're talking about an impressionable teen, but not an adult with a functioning brain. I think people should be allowed to say that they don't like something. Everything in life isn't always so positive. :)

It was interesting to see your post, as I've wondered the same thing, probably because DHS and AK are my two favorite of the four.

I like all the Disney parks, but here is my preference order:
1-DHS -- My two favorite attractions: One Man's Dream and Tower or Terror

2-AK -- Visually the park is just sooo cool -- It also has my favorite show, "Festival of the Lion King"

3-MK -- I like most of the headliner attractions and have some fond memories of going here as a kid. (Because I skip many of the minor attractions there is just as much for me to do at DHS or AK as here)

4-EPCOT -- I like lots of the attractions here, but am not that into the countries. Again, because I'd just assume skip most of the country stuff, there is as much for me to do at DHS or AK as here)

I think that she is right to an extent at least for first time visitors. I took alot of what I was told to heart before our first visit like. "ALWAYS take a day off from the parks." and "DTD is a blast!" so I scheduled for these and they were a bust for our family. You never know:confused3 lol.

As for the parks we did the least amount of shows and rides combined at both of these parks than we did at the MK in a day but DHS was one of our favorite parks and AK was not our cup of tea. That being said we are going to give it a try again on our next trip and see if it was just the crowd and heat that made it HORRIBLE that day.

Although we didn't pay enough attention the the show schedule at DHS and missed alot of them it still was a great day, and what a great ambiance that park has! We didn't like Illuminations and Wishes didn't capture the kids, but we all LOVED Fantasmic.
