Why does everyone pick on Animal Kingdom or Disney's Hollywood Studios? It's like every time I look on this section of the DIS Boards, there is a thread saying "Anyone NOT like Animal Kingdom" or "Anyone NOT like Hollywood Studios"?

I guess I don't understand why people hate those parks :S

I personally love the theming :thumbsup2

MK is my least favorite of all of the parks.

on our last trip I thought we would go to magic kingdom for two days but we were done there by 2pm and had to kill time to wait for our reservation at crystal palace...which turned out to be by far the worst restaurant we went to on our trip. I liked every restaurant except crystal palace and mama melrose. DHS is now my favourite park after they added tsm

I don't hate them, but I don't enjoy them the same as I do Epcot, and MK. I can have fun for one day in DHS, or AK, but for me they aren't multi day parks.

If someone comes on the DIS and asks which park do I skip if I only have three days to spend, then I will suggest skipping DHS, or AK.

However, if it were at all possible, I would make sure to plan for at least four days in the parks, so no park would have to be skipped. Driving to Florida from NY, it would be an incredible waste of time and money to spend only 3 days in the parks for us anyway. We will have 11 days in the parks this year. Even with that many days to spend, DHS, and AK are one day parks for us. That doesn't mean that we can see and do everything in the parks in one day, but there isn't really enough there for us to make either a two day park, so the things we miss one year, we make sure to see the next.

I would go to DHS just for TSMM, even if there wasn't anything else in the park I enjoyed. Star Tours is great fun, we love the Sci-Fi Dine-In theater, Lights Motors Action, Indiana Jones, and Block Party Bash. Fantasmic is a great show, and we're really hoping to see Beauty and the Beast this year, as we haven't seen it yet.

In AK, the Safari is fantastic, we love the walking trails, and the Tree of Life. The parade is one of the best in Disney World, and Festival of the Lion King is worth the trip to the park by it's self.

I love 'em all :cool1: But everyone has their own opinions and really if they hate DHS- then I hope they don't go cause then the lines are shorter for me LOL :)

MK is my least favorite park, I think it is an awesome place and lots of fun but it just is not my favorite. Before our last trip I was really not interested in DHS however once I got there I loved it and quickly became my favorite park with Epcot a close second. I also like AK but feel like it is very crammed in there so it is hard for me to enjoy it as much when there seems to be people on top of you even during less crowded times, but I love the little paths by the tree they were almost empty and those animal carvings are worth the price of park admission for me!

Isn't it funny, CP is one of our favorite meals (though we've only done breakfast there) in all of Disney. We make a point of having the early breakfast at CP every time we go to MK. Last summer we spent 4 days in MK, and will spend 5 there this summer.

CP was the worst meal of your trip, and it seems that you weren't that thrilled with MK.

DHS is your favorite park, we enjoy it, but it's a toss up between MK, and EP for our favorite.

For us, the worst meal in Disney World was the Electric Umbrella in Future World in Epcot.

Just out of curiosity, what was your favorite restaurant in the world?

BTW, I'm not trying to say you are wrong, just pointing out how something that was horrible for one family was terrific for another family. It is very likely that the food you got there was no different than what we got, just different tastes, we happened to like it, and you didn't. I guess that is why there are so many different restaurants, and attractions at Disney World.

That makes me wonder if there are people who actually enjoy eating at the Electric Umbrella. I haven't seen any posts here on the DIS that I can recall saying it was good, though I've read quite a few bad stories about it.

I don't think I've read many "hate" posts - but it seems to me more of a "dislike".

To each his/her own.

AK is the best, I dont hate DHS I just dont like it so I dont go there more than once per trip for more than about a half day. I like MK and EPCOT, but I Love AK. :thumbsup2

If I had to rank the parks in order of how I enjoy them, it would be:
MK
DHS
Epcot
AK

It's not that I hate AK but something has to be last on my list, right? This is true for everyone. That's why Disney is so great...there's something for everyone! Live and let live!

We like the Electric Unbrella as far as Counter Service it is as good as anywhere else for your regular fast food counter service and you get drink refills and cheese cake for desert. :)

I love every park for different reasons, I do have my favorites but on vacation I find something to enjoy in each park there is not one I would want to skip. HS I love TSM and Fantasmic. However, if I did not have time to go to all of the parks I would probably skip AK, but then it is one of DD's favorites. Everyone has their own opinions and likes and dislikes.

Took the words out of my mouth. It's not about hate; it's about priorities. If I'm offering advice to someone who has limited time (and don't we all), I have to say that AK just doesn't float my boat.

I like DHS, but only when it isn't raining and it always seems to rain when I'm there. This was particulalry true when my kids were little. Not many rides if you missed a show due to a delay like, say, changing a diaper. Not too many places to get out of the rain if you miss the start of shows that are not thrill rides. Thankfully, they added the Toy Story Mania and hope Disney decides to add a couple more rides for younger set. I don't hate the park, love the theming in fact except for the hat, but just prefer the other parks. Now that the kids are older, Star Tours, RnR and ToT are good options other than the Great Movie Ride.

As for Animal Kingdom, it's a great park. It's meant to be enjoyed slowly becuase of the animals so if people went in with a mindset that it's a zoo PLUS some rides, they'd enjoy it a lot more. Instead, they race through the park and leave unsatisfied. My only complaint is the Dino area. The boneyard is excellent as is the Dinasaur ride, but the rest of it? Yuck. It's nothing that you wouldn't find on any given boardwalk or low level amusement park. I expect more imagination and whimsy from Disney! Maybe over time, this section will get a makeover, who knows?

Hey, everyone can't love EVERYTHING about every park, glad that we have options.

I love all the parks! I have been slightly disappointed in DHS since the backlot tour changed. Plus the magic of Disney animation is kinda lame now(although I understand why it is). But, there is still so much theming and detailing that I still love spending at least 1 day there each and every trip. And of course, it's the home to Fantasmic!
I can usually knock out Animal Kingdom in less than a day. It's always on my list but, just a day. I love the beauty of the park and of course the animals. The rides are great too. We just prefer to spend more than one day at the other parks.

Personally I like AK and DS only thing I find I don't like is those two parks both seem to be more crowded than MK and Epcot as a rule to the point of not being able to walk during busy times, is it because they are smaller perhaps ? not sure :confused3

All 4 Parks have their own "feel".

Animal Kingdom is a zoo with rides to a lot of people. So I think that's a tough one to feel any magic about.
It's a little preachy too since it's about the environment.
If I'm on vacation I don't want it to be a downer I want fun.
And I really like straws.

MGM (I refuse to change the name, sorry. lol) is geared towards the movie industry. So if you're not into that then you're not going to enjoy all the homages that the do there.

MK is just plain fun.

EPCOT.....I have no idea what people like EPCOT.:) It's fun, I think it's seeing that big ball that gets the blood going.
I go to EPCOT for the World Showcase myself (and all the food that entails!)

So for me, in order of greatness, it's:

MK
MGM
EPCOT
AK
