Here now... I'm a woman and im 6'1 when I left for my trip I was at 290 pounds been here for 9 days and I know I gained at least 10 pounds ...im a size 22\24 in fact 24 was loose on me and I fit perfectly fine in a 2x Minnie hoodie... I attempted fop two times and didn't fit.. I'm not THAT darn big. I rode motorcycle style rides before and never had an issue... My stomach isn't big I carry my weight in my hips and thighs... The calves part would not fit at all... The first CM simply didn't give a damn did not even try just tried to close it said nope don't fit and made me leave. I was so devastated.... Walked out in tears of embarrassment....

I saw a video where a man took off his shoes... Went to the test seat out front... The CM pushed hard got me clicked in... Went in to ride with my kids and I took my shoes off and wala.... Clicked in with very minimal effort not even a push.

The CM came back said no put your shoes on...i said really? Other people rode without shoes... He and the cast members outside the ride said no one has ever ridden without shoes and I heard wrong it was never permitted.

I could not get my feet to bend in my sneakers... He kept saying put my feet ALL the way inside but when I did that my thighs hurt like hell because im tall and my body wouldn't fit...

Why couldn't he just let me keep my shoes off?! I had on thick socks... I wasn't going anywhere. I actually celebrated when I got clicked on and made a huge deal only to be kicked off. I can not begin to describe my embarrassment.... I ran off and hid in the gift shop... They gave me fast passes and said go ride navi river it just pissed me off ...why let some people do something and not others? Why do we have to contort ourselves to ride this? We're Americans were larger why bring a Chinese ride design to a place like disney where you're known as scooter land for having large guests... I just don't understand.

I also had no problem fitting on Harry Potter forbidden journey.

My poor daughter was so upset I didn't get to ride that she was bawling when she exited the ride said she couldn't enjoy it because I got kicked off after I finally got locked in.

Im seeing posts of men that are 6'5 330 pounds that wear a size 14 getting to ride and in 6'1 300 pounds a size 12 shoe and couldn't fit.

Tomorrow is our last park day I won't be coming back for two years. I had Magic Kingdom planned but my kids are telling me third time's a charm to try again but I don't know if my heart can take another disappointment .

I'm so sick of seeing everyone's excited faces when they leave the ride saying OMG it was so sick best ride on earth.... I just wanted to break down hearing that.

Kids wouldn't ride again with the free fast passes without me. I feel bad that my daughter couldn't enjoy her ride because of me.

Someone said try flip flops... IDK... My anxiety is very high about this.

I'm sorry you and your family were so disappointed. I know it hurts, but not everything can be made to fit everyone. I have really wide feet. A few months ago I found a pair of absolutely gorgeous sandals. They were really expensive, but then they went on sale AND I had a coupon so they were at a price I could afford. I was so sad when I tried them on and my feet just could not squeeze in. It's not the first time it's happened, there's often shoes I can't wear because my feet are so just too wide.

If it were me, I wouldn't try again today. I would enjoy the day you have planned at MK.

Do you have or can you buy some sandals or something that can bend more easily for the ride that you can use instead of your sneakers?

Why does having shoes on/off make a difference for you? If it's the ankle angle, then yes, try a pair of shoes that let you bend the ankle. But if it's leg position, having fat legs and a huge butt is going to make it hard to get in the right position, no matter what shoe you are wearing.

Don't be surprised if you get a warning for your racist comment about the Chinese, BTW.

My comment is not racist it is the truth! Chinese manufacturers design with their body types in mind not larger americans

I don't get the impression the OP was being racist. I sincerely hope no one jumps on that train. That would be as sad as the OP's experience on the ride. She was explaining perhaps the ride was built with small people in mind, as Asians tend to be. I just read a TR written by someone who is Asian. She noted the trouble her family has at fireworks shows when people stand in front of them because -- they are small. Not racist, just common.

To the OP, I hope someone can offer some helpful advice. You should at least try the flip flop idea. I'm sorry it happened. I can only imagined how embarrassing it must have been.

Honestly I have no idea why shoes mattered..... With my shoes off I fit with no problem but when I put them on I was unable to bend my ankle or slide my foot in.... Big feet? And yes I have large hips thighs and behind like most women.. Still does explain why men larger than me can ride and I can't

Definitely not racist just made an observation that disney dropped the ball.... I'm not the only one who had trouble riding due to the ride design. As a 6'1 woman weighing a little under 300 pounds I shouldn't have had no problem fitting the ride. I've rode two other motorcycle style rides when I was even heavier and one was a coaster and one was a thrill ride that spun in the air while turning at a high speed..... These bikes are stationary at Disney....

I was so embarrassed but I'm giving it one last shot today. I'll be in my flip flops.

OP

I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. I am worried myself because I am 5'3" and 236 lbs. I also carry most of my weight on the lower half. I am currently in a size 20, but hoping to lose more weight before we go. Still, it is a worry.

FWIW, I plan to bring a pair of soft ballet flats to slip on just before the ride. They bend just like a sock. I'll put my walkers in my backpack during FOP.

Let us know if you get to ride. Sending pixie dust your way!

Get flip flops. My only comment is that we as a society have become blind to how extreme large Americans have become. I have been blown away at the extreme sizes I have seen here this week. People waddling in Calf sizes as big as my thighs and I am a size 20!! I think Disney in being sooo accommadating ( skooters everywhere) that it draws the extreme side of humanity. it cannot be expected that a ride is fitted for the 5% of society that cant fit. And in the end have a larger % risk falling out. At Dollywood I couldn't do the drop as my *** is too big. That is my fault snd not Dollywoods.

Well, crap. Now I'm worried. I'm about the same, though I usually wear an 18. We scored FP for our last day. Now I wonder if I should just send DH and YDS on without me. (DH is a pretty tall/big guy, but it sounds like those proportions fit?)

Because shoes have a direct impact on how far in the foot goes.
How far in the foot goes has a direct impact on if the calf pads can come in and lock behind the leg.
The further in the foot goes, the further in the calf pad goes, the better chance of a lock.
OP, wear different shoes.
Put your foot up on your toes if needed.
Your size sounds the same as mine, I fit fine. My calves are very large too, I can't even wear any tall boots, even wide calf boots are too small.
But I've never worn sneakers

Huh?? You're going to make comments about the Chinese because you didn't fit in a ride at WDW? I understand you're embarrassed and angry, but why are you blaming others you really don't know anything about? I have no clue if it was designed by Chinese, Japanese, Americans or by the Na'vi themselves. All I know is that I'm pretty sure WDW designs their rides to accommodate as many body sizes/types as they can while still trying to have some efficiency. Not everyone will fit every ride.

it really all depends on where your weight is distributed. My husband is 6'4 200lbs and has a size 14 and he fit fine with his sneakers, but his calves are very small. I'm not surprised they didn't let you ride without shoes, that is a standard rule on all Disney rides, even the water rides.

I don't think blaming the chinese manufacturers makes a whole lot of sense, majority of the people that want to ride this do fit. I'm sorry you didn't get to go on, I'd try again with some flip flops maybe.

How did it go today?? I think I would have skipped it and gone to MK! I hope you are having a magical day wherever you are and whatever you are doing!:flower1:

If you are too big then you are too big.
It stinks but its just reality.
Most attractions are extremely Pooh size friendly. Apparently FOP is designed in such a way that it just cannot be.
Stop complaining and enjoy everything else you can ride.
Now you have a goal for a future trip.
