My mom and I took our yearly trip, this time on the basic dining plan from 1/1-15. We used dde (sorry Tables in Wonderland) for some of the extras.

Here's where we ate:
CS - POFQ, Pizzafari, Flame Tree, ABC Comissary, Starring Rolls, Sunshine Seasons, Kringala, Cosmic Ray's, Columbia Harbour House, Pecos Bill's, and the Main Street Bake Shop

TS - Cape May Cafe, Le Cellier, Boma, Flying Fish, Citricos, Sanaa, the Wave, San Angel, 1900 Park Fare, Kouzzina, Tony's, Artist Point, and CA Grill

We checked in late on 1/1, so we didn't eat anything that night.

1/2 the food fest began...
Bfast - FQ - our breakfasts weren't very exciting, we ate here everyday. My mom would get 2 slices of bread for toast, I'd get a kids meal or oatmeal (with brown sugar and raisins). Nothing special, just our comfort zone.

Lunch - ABC Comissary
This was my mom's request -had to see if they had any new previews for Lost lol. She had the chicken curry, I had the fish and chips, we both had chocolate mousse. Mine was fine, my mom didn't care for the chicken.

Dinner- Cape May Cafe
We like it here; get to gorge ourselves on clams and mussels. I tried the raspberry piña colada and loved it, my mom had a glass of wine. We paid for this meal oop with the tiw discount. Forgot to mention that we paid for breakfast oop too.

Snack
beignets! My mom isn't a fan, but we have them once a trip.

Everyday we'd eat bfast early, had lunch around 11:30, and dinner around 5ish. This worked well - we were seated for all of our ADRs on time.

1/3
Lunch - Sunshine Season
I had the turkey focaccia sandwich and strawberry shortcake - yum, yum!! My mom had the sweet and sour chicken and creme brûlée. She liked both, but said the creme brûlée was more like instant pudding.

Dinner - Le Cellier
We were a little apprehensive about this - last trip we didn't have a good experience. No worries, this time it was wonderful!!! We split the mussels as an appetizer (oop) and they were delicious! We both had the filet and enjoyed every bite:) We tried the mont blanc thing for dessert - I don't remember this but it's on the receipt. Guess it was ok. We both had wine. Our server was good, atmosphere and food were good too.

Snack
dorritos at FQ at my mom's request. I think my beignet request was tastier!

Joining in. Thanks for the review on Cape May dinner. We went for breakfast and can't wait to try the dinner.

Lunch - Pizzafari
We like Flame Tree better, but it was cold! So indoors we go...
I had the cheese pizza combo - the salad and pizza were fine. My mom had the Italian sandwich and liked it. We both had the vanilla pudding and strawberries, um I mean the strawberry parfait;) which was ok.

Dinner - Boma
Usually we eat here twice during a 2 week stay, but this trip it was just once. I don't know if it was the night or if we've been here too many times, but we didn't enjoy it. The food wasn't that different, so I'm not really sure why. Our server stunk, but that's happened before and we still liked it. So maybe next trip we'll skip this one... We both had the wine flight and paid for the entire meal oop.

Snack - FQ
milkshake - what more can I say? A milkshake's a milkshake. Lol

I've only eaten bfast there once, but it was good! Dinner at Cape May has become the first dinner tradition of our trip. And they added snow crab legs:)

1/5
Lunch - Columbia Harbour House
We always enjoy eating here (except for the time someone changed their baby's diaper at the next table...) especially eating upstairs. I had the fish/chicken combo and chocolate cake that reminds me of a Tastycake. My mom had the tuna sandwich and apple crisp. I tried the sandwich and it was really good! I don't always like tuna salad because I don't like a lot of mayo. But this was good! We both enjoyed it.

Dinner - Flying Fish
This is another must-do for us every trip. Last time we didn't do a dining plan, just Tiw, so my mom didn't get the steak. This time she did; she said it was the best steak of the trip. I had the snapper which was good. We both had wine and for dessert I had the ice wine flight. Yum! Our receipt said that we had the tart for dinner. Again, I can't remember, so it must have been ok. For our n/a drinks my mom had green tea and I had cappuccino. Our server was great. He suggested we have our warm drinks before dinner which was great because it was so cold.

Snack - FQ
We started to realize that we'd better use more snack credits since we didn't want to carry too much home. So I had a milkshake (what can I say, I'm boring;) ), my mom had a cheese danish.

Signing on! FF is a fave of ours as well as Citricos. Can't wait to see your review on Kouzzina too!:thumbsup2

Thanks!

Lunch - Starring Rolls
Here's where we got a little creative. It was cold (how can it be that cold for 2 full weeks?!) but we didn't want ABC Comissary food again. So we decided to take our trays from Starring Rolls to the Comissary and hope we didn't get too many funny looks. We didn't and it was much better than freezing! I had the turkey sandwich and butterfinger cupcake (yummy but huge! Couldn't eat more than half.) My mom had the ham sandwich and fruit tart. We both liked this lunch!

Snack
Our dinner tonight was later, so we tried a cin. pretzel in Epcot. My mom loved this! We had a soda too.

Dinner - Citricos
This was a first for my mom and the second time for me. I had the swordfish, my mom had the veal. Both of us liked what we had. We both had the Celebration dessert, but again I fail and can't remember what that was... I had the press pot coffee, my mom had the tea. Of course we had wine lol, paid oop. The meal, atmosphere, and
service were fine, but later we both decided that we like some of the other signature restaurants better.

Lunch - Pizzafari (again)
It was too cold to go anywhere else in AK, so we ate here again. We had exactly the same thing as before; it was fine. We did pick another room to shake things up a bit. Lol!

Dinner - Sanaa
This was a first for us. I like giraffes and take lots of pictures everytime we're on the safari - although by now it's more to get to my mom... My mom makes fun of me, rolls her eyes, etc. So I was thrilled to sit by the window and see... Giraffes!!!!! We split the sampler appetizer (ok), both of us had the NY strip (good), and we had wine. We had pressed coffee and tea with dessert. And I remember what dessert was! My mom had the rice pudding, I had the sampler and we split it. Yum, yum, yum!!!

Snack
Auntie Gravity's - strawberry sundae
Because apparently I hadn't eaten enough dessert... It was good. And cold.

DH says FF has the best steak he has every had!

Love your reviews!

Lunch - Cosmic Ray's
We like to eat here once a trip; standard fast food but it's fun watching Cosmic Ray! We both had the pork sandwich and chips. My mom proclaimed the chips tasteless. Not so once you smother them in cheese;) She thought that was disgusting, I disagreed! I had the carrot cake, she had the chocolate cake. No cheese needed for either of those...

Snack - Lunching Pad
Later that afternoon we had a cream cheese pretzel. Our dinner was a whole 6 hours after lunch, we needed sustenance;) My mom was iffy about it and both of us had upset tummys later (although there was probably another reason - I was nervous about doing the Marine Mammal Keeper Experience the next day, she was nervous that I'd loose a finger to one of the animals...). Upside here was watching the birds steal people's food. What can I say, we're easily amused.

Dinner - the Wave
We ate here last year. I liked it, my mom was so-so about it. We were seated in the very back of the restaurant so it was quiet. My mom liked that they used red sea salt on the butter (it might have been black). She tries out stuff like that for my dad at home. I laugh because he's a meat and potatoes guy and gets weirded out by stuff like that. Anyway... We both had the pork (yum yum yum). I had the Pinot noir wine flight, my mom had her nightly glass. I had the creamy indulgence for dessert with the press pot coffee (my mom thought the press pot coffee was beyond gross to look at). She had the sorbet sampler (I think) and tea.

Snack - FQ
I had to be out early the next day, so I used 2 snack credits for 2 cereals.

1/9
Today I was at Sea World all day, so my mom was on her own until dinner.

Lunch - only my mom at FQ
She tried the cheesesteak and got a cookie for dessert. She stayed at FQ to do laundry since our sweatshirts and jeans were getting more use than anticipated. She said it was okay.

Dinner - San Angel Inn
My pick, much to the dismay of my mom who has never had Mexican. She thinks I may not really be her child - I love Mexican food, coffee, and red wine among other things that she dislikes. Actually she liked San Angel:) I hadn't eaten much so I appreciated the tortilla chips. I had one of the specialty drinks, my mom had her wine. She tried the steak, I had the fish. Both were good. We both had the fruit dessert (I think it's white mousse and berries) and coffee/tea.

A bonus was that since our ADR was around 7:30, we got out right before Illuminations so I talked my mom into staying:). She doesn't like the post-fireworks bus stampede.

Lunch - Sunshine Season
So we're boring; we had exactly the same thing as earlier in the trip. My mom had a different dessert - chocolate crumb cake. We ate here again because outside was cold and here was warm.

Dinner - 1900 Park Fare
We paid for this OOP. We like the strawberry soup and shrimp. This time they didn't have the shrimp:(. It's a pretty place and the characters are fun (especially the step sisters), but next time we'll skip this one.

Snacks - FQ
I got my milkshake, my mom got a cookie. Both were good.

1/11
Lunch - Flame Tree
Finally it was less cold! Note that I didn't say warm - we ate with our coats on. We did take off our gloves though... I had the pork sandwich, my mom had the half chicken meal; both were yummy. I had the chocolate mousse (yum), my mom tried the key lime mousse (super yuck!!!). We enjoyed sitting outside next to the reflecting pool watching people yell at the ducks. Trust me, if you ignore them they wander off eventually. Kind of...

Snack
We got popcorn and a soda. I made my mom promise not to feed the birds (she was good during lunch). Fortunately we ate them at a spot with no birds so she wasn't tempted.

Dinner - Kouzzina
I don't know if it was our server (kind of creepy) or what we chose to eat; this was not a favorite for either of us. It took forever to get our wine (server told us the bartender didn't show up?). The wine was good. We both had the fisherman's stew. Okay, but very spicy. We were both glad this was on the plan and that we didn't "pay" for it. I had an okay dessert - can't remember it. My mom had the loukamades - pretty sure I butchered the spelling... Fried balls of dough with honey sauce. How can you go wrong? Lol! I read the review in allears. Um, we must have gotten different ones. These were disgusting and tasted like they fried them with fish or something. It was fun to laugh at though. We won't be back, and I hope that everyone else's experience is better than ours. We've had worse, but this was the worst of the trip.

1/12
Lunch - Pecos Bills
This isn't a favorite of ours, but my mom picked it because it was something different. We both had the BBQ sandwich, I had the carrot cake, my mom had a cookie. A squirrel was near the topping bar - the cm said that he runs in and out. Cute for us, probably not cute for the cms.

Snack
Today was the day - it was above 50 degrees, time for a Mickey bar!

Dinner - Tony's
My pick; I love Lady & the Tramp and like Tony's a lot. My mom doesn't care for the food, but she humors me. I had the seafood pasta and tiramisu. My mom had the NY strip steak (definitely not Flying Fish!!!) and creme brûlée. We were seated in the back near the window with Lady and the Tramp's silhouettes.

Snack - Main Street bakery
So this was my 12th trip and somehow I hadn't set foot in here before this trip. I got a cappuccino and crumb cake that I brought back to the room for my mom. Yummy!

I can't believe it's been 12 days since we were there!

1/13
Lunch - Kringala
Finally it was relatively warm enough to eat here! This was definitely the largest lunch of the trip and my favorite (for the taste, not because it was a large amount). We both had the soup/sandwich combo. The soup was cream based; I think there were supposed to be things in it, but it was mostly cream. Good, but neither of us ate much of it (very heavy). I had the ham and apple sandwich which was quite good. My mom had the club sandwich and liked it. One of my coworkers lived in Norway for several years and told me to try cloudberries. So I got the cloudberry horn - my new favorite dessert:) My mom had the fruit tart. Mine was much better!

Snack
My mom needed a cinammon pretzel fix, so we split one and a soda.

Artist Point
Our favorite place of the trip! I stayed at WL once and I want to go back!!! Anyway, we split the mussels (oop) which are my favorite. Buffalo is backon the menu!!! We both had that. Yum yum. We were allowed to get a side, so we each got the sweet potatoe thing. The only thing missing was the onion jam. I had the wine flight, my mom had a glass. We both had the cobbler for dessert. It's different. Not sure how I feel about it now. I had cappuccino, my mom had tea. We enjoy the atmosphere and service. Except for the guys at the next table discussing bull semen at the top of their lungs, it was perfect. And they were just funny. Strange place to talk that sort of business... Lol

Thanks for the update...I have been reading alot of great reviews on Artist Point and we never went but we need to add this on our next trip.:)

thanks for the reviews! two questions - the meal at saana's - you said you had steak - was it very spiced? my husband does not like indian food and i'm concerned there would not be anything on the menu for him
-
the second question is about the club sandwich at norway - is it a "traditional" club with turkey, ham, bacon, mayon etc? is it large?
thanks again!
