and if we DO, how do we do that??

I've erased the names of the folks involved in the post...

Subject to availability, a member cash discount of 25% off rack rates may be available. To book, you have to call MS.

SERIOUSLY???? So I could call MS and see if my existing reservation at VGF could be discounted by 25% or it has to be a new booking??

I was just willing to pay full price for my 1br villa there but I'll take a discount! :lovestruc

Member can MAYBE get a discount at only a DVC resort . Not at a reg resort. It would have to be a new resort reservation.

Sometimes subject to availability DVC rooms are available to members at a cash discount. More often than not there is no availability.

There are also discounts sometimes for AP members, never hurts to ask for whatever affinity groups you belong to.

So I called MS and they said that (1.) they can't change/apply a discount to my current reservation since they can't see it - they could only see my DVC stay in March (2.) she did check for availability for our dates but nothing.

I'll have to keep that in mind when we've used up all our points and need to visit one more time!

Im am holding out for a AP discount for November, but if not, then I'm OK since I booked it without a discount!

For decades, there has been the ability for members to get a 25% discount off the standard rack rate for a DVC room (not any other hotel room) through Member Services. Emphasis on that discount off rack rate; if you see Disney, through its central reservation system, offering a discount rate on its inventory of DVC rooms, you don’t get 25% off that already discounted rate.

Being able to get a cash room depends on availability and often the rooms you may want are not available and getting a room may be something you can get only closer to your stay time than 7 months out.

And the discount cannot be applied to a room reservation made through Disney central reservations rather than through Member Services. That a room is available through Disney does not mean it is also available through MS.

We just became DVC members in 2019, with our first trip not being until June 2020, which as we all know didnt happen, so Im still learning!

You needed to book your cash stay through MS, not Disney Reservation Center, to get any possible cash discount. Those are two totally separate inventories. MS has no control over those reservations.

Thanks for asking this - I am a new member too and was wondering how it works!

Does this apply to all members or just blue card members?

Does the DVC member have to be staying in the room? We were considering traveling with friends that aren't members. Would we be able to book a cash reservation for them and get the discount?

I guess if there was capacity in the room, we could be on the reservation. Could they check in if we arrived at different times?

Eta - nevermind. Should've checked the dvc site before posting.Screenshot_20210710-131942_Chrome.jpg
