I don't know what is wrong with me, but I feel like I can't make anything right. I have always been able to cook and bake. I almost went to school for it (only made it through the first semester. I have issues with lobsters...)

Anyway, I made Apple Crisp just now and it looks funny. The apples on the side dried out and the crips is not, well crisp :confused3 I made Oatmeal Butterscotch cookies the other day and we won't go into that.

Dh says I am just in a rough spot with baking and all my food turns out wonderfully... :rotfl:

Maybe your oven is messed up. We had an oven that got off kilter somehow and one side of whatever we made burned while the other side was fine.

Our toaster is doing that now. ;)

I once had a very seasoned chef ( a guy from NJ who studied under a well known CMC) tell me that you haven't mastered a dish until you've prepared it at least 1000 times. The same guy told me that cooking is a life long learning process. Even the best chefs make mistakes, and cooking mistakes are how we learn to be better cooks. Give yourself a break, enjoy your baking, and be thankful that you cut out of the school part of it before they made you devein a fois gras :scared1: ;) I agree with the poster who suggested checking to make sure your oven temp is correct. In fact, there could have been a number of factors, but please, don't give up on baking!
