I don't need to return to the Garden Grill

My DD, DGS (3), and DGD (9 mos) and I ate at the Garden Grill for the first time earlier this week. We knew going in what the menu was and how it was served and were OK with that. We arrived early and were seated early on the upper level. The food was served in a timely manner but was pretty much flavorless. The server was not rude, but I'd say he was indifferent. Oh, but the fruit crisp dessert was good. I had looked forward to this meal but was really disappointed. However, the character interaction was wonderful! Each character took time with the kiddos and even made a second pass. Guess we've been there, done that now.

We love GG, but I won't be doing it this trip. I have read too many reviews lately about people waiting forever for more food to be brought. In the past, it wasn't a problem, the kids were small, but my DS17 can eat like you wouldn't believe. I don't want to be made to feel uncomfortable about needing more food brought to us. Therefore, we are doing buffets and restaurants where we order our own dishes. The only exception is when we go to WC and that's only if someone orders the skillet, I sure don't.

Many people absolutely love Garden Grill, but we are one family who was not overly impressed with the restaurant. We were not impressed with the food or the service. Yes, the character interaction is very good, but we have older boys and they sure don't need the characters (though they have fun with it, don't get me wrong), but they are 14 and 20 and are much more interested in the food. It was a one time only dinner for us.

I feel the same way. We just went there this past Thursday night and I was really really looking forward to it! Unfortunately, the only things I liked were the butter, salad dressing, mashed potatoes, vanilla bean cream, and Mickey Mousse dessert. The three entrees were pretty gross! I liked trying it out but I won't return. My boyfriend threw up that night in the middle of the night and I felt sick for two days after. I am not sure that it was from Garden Grill though, I think it was just food overload. Garden Grill was our last meal and we were pretty much fooded out, so I think we weren't hungry enough to enjoy the meal, so we were overly critical.

We loved that place when it was called "The Good Turn." We tried it a couple of times after the change but thought it was just fair. They'd have to make a major change for us to return.:earsboy:

We are another family that does not care for it either. We have dined there twice and both times we thought the food was so-so (I agree with the OP that the food was bland in flavor). Our server the first time we were there was excellent and fun, he got everyone around us to sing Happy Birthday to me and then sang Bella Notte (sp?) for DH and I because we were also celebrating our anniversary...he was great. However, the second server we had there was non existent most of the meal, we had other servers serve our dinner and drinks and when we wanted more food, we too had to wait very long to ask for it. As for the character interaction, it was one of the best which is a shame because due to the food and service we probably won't be going back there again. We'll just have to see Mickey and Friends some place else.

Really? We had a great experience 3 weeks ago. We really (me & my DH) enjoyed our dinner there and can't wait to return. We thought the food was very good and our waiter was very personable. He was friendly, nice, etc. I didn't know what to expect or if we would like it but we were very glad we tried it and plan to go back next year.

Sorry you weren't pleased with the meal. We did it for the first time this past august and it's now on our must do list. Each restaurant has off days, maybe you got one of those.

We did this on our Thanksgiving trip. Had great service and great food. We have older children too and they all still love it!

We went in October for the first time, really only because we were starving, desperate, and they were able to seat us right away. The character interaction and service were great, but the food was underwhelming. I've had better food at an honest-to-goodness buffet. For the price, I would rather go to one of the many other WS restaurants.
