I don't know where to start!

I know it's way in advance, but I want to get a head start. Typically in the fall, when are the busy times vs quieter times? My daughters' birthdays are the end of September, and the end of November. We're planning on going either September 2012, or October 2012. I wanted October 2012, so it would be right in the middle of the 2 birthdays (and we would celebrate their birthdays together), but my hubby suggested September, so the weather would still be nicer, and more of the better rides would be open. I just don't want my oldest to get jealous and upset that we weren't there closer to HER birthday. Any suggestions on the months? We'd be going most likely for the 5 days (maybe 4, to get a day in a different park, maybe Universal?). We'd also be doing the BBB (for both girls), and at least 1 character breakfast, if not 2 or 3. Should I be waiting to start the planning, or at least figure out tentative dates, or...? I just don't know! Thanks!!!!

Late September is probably less busy, but October is wonderful, especially if you make plans to stay for Mickey's Halloween Party. We took are son's last year and all of us had a blast (not to mention coming home with enough candy to last us a year!)

I'd aim for October. It's more crowded than September. But September once Labor Day weekend or week is done is super slow, so October is busier in comparison but not bad. Also because September is true off season it has more rehabs.

But going late September or early October to share thier birthdays there is a great idea. Mrs. Pinups idea to take in a Halloween Party is a great idea too and could make for an incredible birthday present, because it's extra special.

Lots of time to plan and think about things.

Awesome, thank you both for the info! I think Mickey's Halloween Party sounds like a lot of fun!
So assuming we went in the middle of October, typically, what is the weather like? Are there still several rides down for maintenance? Our last trip to DL/DCA, we went during the middle of spring break times, would the busy-ness be comparable to that, or not as bad (just generally, in the previous years)?

I would go for October also. There will likely be less ride closures (for refurbs) and better weather. September can be hot here, but Oct is nicer. Rain is unlikely, and while it can be warm, it is usually pretty pleasant.

As others stated, Oct means Halloweentime at DLR, so you'll see lots of fall decorations, Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy (Halloween overlay), and Haunted Mansion Holiday (Nightmare Before Christmas overlay). Plus, there's Mickey's Halloween Party as a separate ticketed event, if you're interested.

Here is the link to the Halloween superthread if you want more info about this time of year.

Enjoy planning. :thumbsup2
