I dont know what to do..i need help

Here is the situation.
There are 8 of us, so no matter where we stay onsite universal and disney we need two rooms.

Right now
We are booked at POP for 2-19thru 2-23
and
RPR 2-23 thru 2-27
Current rates are 121.54 at disney and 260.91 at Universal per room per night...
im begining to worry about the universal rate..it is our first time looking at staying onsite and when I think I could be spending so much for four nights that could be used somehow else I want to but i like the idea of FOTL since my niece is mildly autistic and standing in line for a long time could end up seeming a lot longer.

What do you think the chances of the rooms getting to about 70 at disney and 180 at universal making the hotel stay about $1000.00 per room?

and now my other dilema..spend the money or stay for a week free at one of the orlando fairfields and miss out on the on site perks.

Normally, I recommend staying onsite for FOTL but in Feburary there won't be any long lines. That is a very slow time of year. Also if your neice is even mildly autistic, you should be able to get a guest assistance pass for disabilities. I would get it just in case and only use it as needed.

As far as the prices for Pop Century, I am sure that they will have codes coming out at that time and you may be able to get a room for $55 a night. You can reserve your rooms and then when the code comes out, apply the code to reduce your room price.

OT from OP, but...Phantom, you say that Feb isn't that busy. Her dates are for President's week...does that make a difference?? I will be at RPR from 19-26th. So, it won't be as busy as I thought?

I also think you will be able to get a much lower rate at POP, and keep checking the Loews web site because my RPR came down to $119 about a few weeks before we left.

February is the best month to visit USF/IOA, and I don't think Presidents week will matter. It's not an official holiday for most private companies, instead, they take off MLK day in January.
The other reason no one visits in February is because they're still paying off Christmas bills.
In February, they don't even have FOTL working, or if they do, it doesn't start until the afternoon.
The advantage to staying on site is being able to literally walk back and forth to the parks. But if the cost is too much, then staying off site will work.

I have been reading that President's week is one of the busiest times of the year because schools are out and daytona 500, is that information true?
And really there isn't FOTL in February? How come?

There is FOTL in Feb. or at least there was this past Feb. 2004, because we were there and used it. It was the last weekend in Feb., and the parks were not too crowded, but we used FOTL for everything. And the popular rides like Shrek, had waits of 120 minutes without express. February is a time for Mardi Gras too, and that makes the crowds pick up a bit.

$260 is too high for RPR - I've never heard of anyone paying that. They will have discounts as you get closer to your vacation. You can ask if they have entertainment rates, or fan club rates, or AAA if you have it. I'm sure you can easily stay there for under $200 - and it IS worth it for FOTL. Good Luck!

I didn't notice that was Presidents' week. Thanks for catching that.

This year Presidents' week was crowded, not as bad as Spring Break or Summer but still pretty crowded. I know I was surprised about the crowds as I hadn't expected them as most schools around here were only out for one day.

You may very well need FOTL. As far as FOTL not available, they will always open it as long as the ride isn't a walkon.
