I Don't Know, I Don't Speak Wind!!

For some of our DIS kids.

Awww, Hannah would be tickled to see that. Then she would want the "eckace" of course! ;)

Thanks for the shout-out.

Declan is in the 6th grade playing with the grade 7 team. Undefeated school season so far, including a tournament win on the weekend. Unfortunately his second team, the club team, isn't doing as well.

I have lived the excitement of this. Drew was one of three seventh graders who played with the eighth graders in soccer. Trent excelled in soccer and basketball from YMCA days as a little boy to district and region honors as a high schooler. Going to games and tournaments and watching them play was much fun. ::yes:: I wish Declan the best as he begins these whirlwind (but awesome) years ahead!

I, too, know how that goes. My dad passed away at Christmastime in 1987, every now and then still feel a little sorry for myself about how much has been missed. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Enjoy the planning and hope to see you here a little more often :)

Same here. My dad got a big kick out of Jill and Trent. He loved laughing at them. Sadly, he died when Trent was just a baby, and he had been sick pretty much all of the time he was here. I remember him laughing at Jill, though. He would have very much enjoyed watching them grow up, and I think he did/does see them, in a way, from where he is. I feel the same way with Joan - she is missing so much, but I can 'sense' her smiling sometimes when things are going on.

She is such a cutie! Too bad you have turned that precious little thing into slave labor, though, from what I am seeing on Facebook. :rolleyes1

Maybe we can do a big meet up at another time for a ride. We've filled a Small World boat and a Jungle Cruise boat with DISers, and we've filled a Splash Mountain log with DISers - riding up and walking down. ;) What else can we fill with DIStown citizens in December?

I vote for a safari jeep!

Let's get something to eat.

What will you have?

Back outside. You see the blue sky and those palm trees? Yeah, that's what I am looking forward to in seven weeks and a day! :cool1:

This area was roped off for the evening. It wasn't a large area, though, and as far as I know, the beach was not close to outside guests in the evening.

Thanks again everyone for your thoughts. It helps to know others have been through similar things. I have been pouting since I lost my Dad and I am only 35. I am much better though. He would be mad to know I felt this way.

Great trip to the Poly. I keep saying I am going to buy a t-shirt there but never do. I love them! Brooklynn looks like she is having fun.

Lovely to take a virtual walk around the Poly with you and miss Brooklynn after a looooong day at work! Looks like an absolutely beautiful day!

And thanks for the goodvibes on the promotion! :goodvibes. Definitely a good thing to make more Disney money!

And congrats on your new car Lana! :thumbsup2. Enjoy it! And take car driving if you got all of the freezing rain we had! :scared:

This is the beginning of a WILD crew, is it not???

::yes::

I'd hold off on that treehouse until points are more reasonable. We'll do that party, in time. Wilderness Lodge at Christmas is extra magical.

Definitely hod off til points are more reasonable!

We are going to have a fun night at 'Ohana, if we can all get in!

:thumbsup2::yes::

:hug:and more  from me to you!

Speaking from experience I completely understand your feelings.
It took me a long time to get past the loss of my Dad (May 95) and feeling normal again.

I know it is a cliche but time did help me and now I cherish all the fond memories I had with him...especially the ones involving WDW! :)

Take Care, Lana

I totally agree!! Time does help!! Take care, Lana!!

Sorry to hear both you and Jill were sick this past week.

These FLU/Cold bugs are really messing with people this year. :worried:

Maybe these will put a smile on your face!

I asked your favorite character to send you a message while we had breakfast one morning at Crystal Palace.

Cute!!

I will be joining you all at the "O'hana NYE dinner" .... there are 3 of us.
Are we making our own individual ADR's or going to book as a group?

Us too!!! There are 3 of us! What time are we hoping to invade O'hana's?? :lmao::rotfl2:

I haven't been back to O'hana since the night I was sick there.
This will be an excellent time for a do over.

A Tree House party would be so much fun!!! :cool1:

That would be fun!!!

I bought a new car yesterday!!! A 2013 Limited Edition Sonata!!! I'm so excited!!!
I pick it up Tuesday!!!

Congrats on the new car!!

I had a laugh when I was looking at the car's navigation system.
I was remembering your story about driving to Atlanta with Jill and it getting you all lost in the middle of nowhere.
Hopefully this doesn't happen to me...:rotfl:

My only wish is for winter to get gone so I can open up the sunroof and feel the wind in my hair. ;)

Hope you are enjoying the day...I have to pop into work for a couple hours and then we are going to see Rise of the Guardians (somehow we missed seeing this during the holidays with my crazy work schedule)

CONGRATS on your new promotion Stacy!!! you deserve it for all your hard work!!! :thumbsup2

Congrats Stacy!!

Good for you and your promotion! :thumbsup2 More Disney money, right? :goodvibes

It is so easy to picture yourself standing in that lobby. :)

It sure is!! We tried Kona for lunch on our NYE trip! We also ate at O'hana's

Glad you stopped in. This is a good time for us to publicly acknowledge our favorite (5th or 6th grade?) basketball player. Go, Declan! :cheer2:

Go Declan!!

Sounds like a good day to be inside safe and warm. ::yes:: Glad you brought home yummy food. Brandi and Trent ate lunch with me today, and I sent him home with a bunch of stuff, too. His haul was meatloaf, baked potatoes, lima beans, rolls, and cole slaw.

Yum!!

I guess whoever is able to make reservations first can try to get the max, and then the next person eligble can get another max. That would give us 28 spots. There will be 9 of us, possibly 10, if Drew goes, but I doubt he will.

What is the limit on the number of people on a ressie? I guess you would have to call for such a large reservation?

A lot of us have known each other for around six years now, and we have formed special friendships. We have watch each others' kids be born and grow up. Some meet in real life, as they live fairly close to each other. Two have even been in each others' weddings after having met right here on this report. We have supported one another through with good thoughts and prayers during tough times and losses. We are certainly honored to be a part of such a caring group.

Marc and I are in for O'hana on the 31st as well!
MeMom, do you have dates for Trent, Brandi, and Jarvis? I was looking at booking. We were thinking Wilderness Lodge.
What I do know is that we won't be arriving until the 26th and not sure when we head home. Our calendar isn't decided yet. Either the 2nd or the 4th.

Cara, I'm so sorry you've had such a hard time with your dad's passing. I do understand though. My dad has been gone since '97 and I still have difficult days and times when I really hate that he is gone. He is missing so many things that he would have loved with his grand kids and the new babies...

Lana, beautiful new car you are getting. Enjoy!!!

Us too!!

I, too, know how that goes. My dad passed away at Christmastime in 1987, every now and then still feel a little sorry for myself about how much has been missed. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Enjoy the planning and hope to see you here a little more often :)

 I can totally relate, every now and the I feel a little sorry for myself too!! You have too once in awhile! But then we have to snap out of it and carry on!

Thanks again everyone for your thoughts. It helps to know others have been through similar things. I have been pouting since I lost my Dad and I am only 35. I am much better though. He would be mad to know I felt this way.

That's how old I was when my dad died. Michael was just a baby, and my mom never go to meet him or my DH. .:(:(:sad1::sad1:

Great trip to the Poly. I keep saying I am going to buy a t-shirt there but never do. I love them! Brooklynn looks like she is having fun.

I like those shirts too. I might have to put them on my list.

OK, sounds like we are all ready to go for NYE!!!!
I had to many smilies!! I had to delete some.

The noodles and chicken sound good! ;)

Ahhh I'm loving all these pictures. Such a beautiful resort!

You know what? That is exactly what I am planning to get on this upcoming trip. I have read recently a report where the person said that the noodles are the same ones they have at 'Ohana, and if this is true, then Oh my goodness! - I will stuff myself silly!

I was in my late 20's when my dad died, Cara. I probably wasn't as close to him as you were to your dad, but he was a good man, he did a lot of good things for people, and I was pretty angry and sad at first. Time truly does help, and you know he would want you to be strong and happy for those boys, giving them the best Mommy they can have. :)

It's good to see that the deluxe resorts still have resort specific merchandise. ::yes:: I wish they would bring back some Pop Century t-shirts.

It's January, and we are already making New Year's Eve plans. Is that odd?

Does it sound weird to say that when looking at your pictures, I could practically smell the Poly? :rotfl: Such a pretty resort to wander around!

Ah I love all the Poly pictures!! I love doing exactly what you did & browse through the stores & resort. We have never stayed there either but would love to someday.

Have a great day!!

Yay me too!! Sounds awesome!!

We're having quite the weather in IA the past few days. We had an ice storm Sunday, today it'll get about 50 degrees, and tonight & tomorrow it'll be 20 degrees & snow. :)

Aww! It was nice to see all of the pictures of the Poly & the beach! We explored the resort for the first time in December!! We never made it out to the beach area, but the inside of the resort is so pretty!! I love the tropical resorts at Disney! :thumbsup2

Going to catch up on your report now! I'm a little bit behind!

Such great pictures at the Poly. I love visiting there. Would love to stay there some day. Sounds like you are getting quite a group together for you New Years Eve at O'Hanas. That should be lots of fun.

I just booked a fishing excursion leaving from the Poly for Lang, the boys, my niece, and nephew for our June trip. Since my mom and I will not be fishing, I booked us for the 'Ohana character breakfast. We are doing Universal again(we got AP's last year and they will still be valid this June) with some SeaWorld thrown in. It is so hard going to Orlando without visiting Mickey. Hopefully, eating breakfast with him will help.

No, ma'am, not at all. :)

It's a good place to window shop for some different things, since they have a pretty good selection on 'real' clothes and jewelry, and not just Mickey everything.

60 something today, 30 something by Thursday. At least we have almost made it to February, and it hasn't been horrible. We just have to push through February and hope for a good March. March here can be a crazy mixed bag of weather.

Yes, we love the tropical resorts, too. It's so different from what we see every day. We enjoy the colorful landscaping, the music, and the decor.

That's the way we're thinking about the summer trip. We're doing a day at SeaWorld, but we're staying in a Disney resort. We'll do DTD and probably go over to Poly to see fireworks one of the two nights, but no parks. We might do a character meal, but then again, we're doing one at Vero, so maybe not. We can soak up plenty of Disneyness at the resorts.

Not at all!!! It's good to have something to look forward too!!!:)

I just think it's kind of funny that we already have our NYE planned. :goodvibes We are looking forward to it.

Exactly!! It's what those of us who have longer waits between visits have to cling too!

We are so very, very blessed to be getting our three trips this year. If it weren't for Marc and Anita letting us bunk in with them for parts or all of some of these journeys, they would be either greatly shortened or not happening at all.

*******************************************

2013 is proving to be somewhat like 2012 - plenty of bad news dotting our days. Anita knows a family who has just lost their teenage son to a car crash. We had a family here who was hit by an unlicensed driver last night. The car that he hit had a new mother with her 14 day old son, her toddler daughter, and her mother, who was in town staying with her to help for a few weeks. The grandmother died in surgery, the mother is badly injured and will undergo five surgeries in the next week, the infant son is okay, and the two year old is on life support. Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers, and as always, remember to treasure your days.

Also, an update on Lindy, the girl who was hurt in the skiiing accident - she has been moved to a rehab hospital in Atlanta and will be there for 2-3 months of hard work. They say her spirit continues to amaze everyone. I love to hear that. :)
