I Don't Know, I Don't Speak Wind!!

From the beach to the wilderness. Not sure which I would like more. Amazing that you can go from one extreme to the other in just a bus ride.

I'm loving all of these Old Key West and Wilderness Lodge pictures! I have unfortunately never been able to visit either resort yet, so I love seeing the pictures. They are both so beautiful!

I would love to check out WL someday; it looks so pretty! And your pictures reminded me - I got pictures from Christine at MK last night, because she got to watch Wishes, and pictures and video from Katie at the same time, because she was in Epcot for Illuminations. Christine also said that she heard people saying it was cold...it was like 60. The timing was funny because yesterday felt particularly comfortable - it was in the upper 30's, instead of the high teens and low 20's we had a few days before (with the wind it felt like 6-8 degrees.) I'm such a planner that it's driving me absolutely up a wall not knowing exactly what to put on my packing list, especially since it's always soooooo cold when we leave for the airport. I pretty much have all bases covered right now.

Hubby would like to live closer to the beaches. The oldest is now talking about going to the university of Fl just to be close to us. He graduates in 15 and we move in 16. So it would be great. I just have to get ds#2 on board with a Fl college. He talks about LSU.

Hope it all works out perfectly for you. :thumbsup2

The two drawbacks to me ever moving to Florida are 1) not having my family nearby, and 2) not having the change of seasons. I like a little bit of winter at Christmas time, just for atmosphere - and to keep me appreciative of warm days. I love crisp fall weather and the beautiful colors of the leaves. A lot of people who live in Florida visit TN to see the leaves in October. Even though I will be okay with not moving to Florida, I would like to be able to make one trip every season.

No mustard for me - on the banned list for me and I have never like the smell or even sight of it so not too surprised I am allergic to it.

I like salt but it is in clumps I will "thin" it out a little bit. Don't like them bare either.

I don't like it, either. Maybe just a slight, slight bit on a burger - I am okay with. Like, I don't special order a burger from a McDonald's or anything, but I have been known to open them up and scrape a lot of the yellow stuff off. ::yes::

MeMom, Cynthia told me she was reading your TR and that you were at OKW (our new favorite resort) so I popped on over; I have a lot to catch up on, but I'll be back.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures and that you will have many future trips to Old Key West with family and friends. :) It has a great atmosphere, and if you are one who likes to zip over to DTD in the evenings, it's a great place to be!

You are getting me excited for OKW. I have walk ed through a couple of times but neither time did it justice.
Always a little tired and a little tired and a little rushed so I am looking forward to having time there to stay.

Also after the run ....not sure how much moving I will be able to do.

It will be a nice place to relax in the sunshine. :beach:

And send us pictures.

Love the pictures! They make me feel like I'm right there. We are headed to the World in less than a month :banana::banana:

Exciting stuff! Right in the middle of winter, too! :thumbsup2

The bad part will be when you get off the plane back in Nashville! :scared1: :cold:

WL really is a beautiful resort! I love the majestic rustic feel - and the gift shop there is awesome too!

Yay for getting to see the geyser! They have a schedule for when it goes off, right?

Yes, it goes off every hour starting at seven in the morning. I am not sure what time the last one is at night. Probably 9, 10, or 11? :confused3

Have you been to the Villas part? There are a lot of cozy sitting areas over there, too. The whole place is very nice.

Ah, a walk around the Wilderness Lodge -- perfect for this time of year!

Yep, I can picture a group of us sitting by one of the WL fireplaces drinking hot chocolate and talking. ::yes::

My middle child just graduated from LSU 12/14. Of course it helps that we live in Baton Rouge. Let me know if you need any information. Most of Michelle's friends are not from here.

That would be cool if your kids became friends while discussing college.

I love that there is something for every taste in resorts. On top of that, you can travel to 11 countries in World Showcase! It's no wonder it's such a great vacation place!

They are, and I hope you get to have some resort hopping time on future trips. Really, I could spend days just going from resort to resort and doing very little in the parks.

I got the castle picture, too. I hope Katie and Christine will meet while they are there. Erica is there, too. Maybe they could all meet at once for a quick DIS hello.

I hope that temperatures for my March trip are nice and warm. I will be happy to pack just my capris and no pants.

I just love Wilderness Lodge. We stayed there this past September for a week and we just loved it !!

I love the mercantile, they have some fun things in there. I meant to go back and spend time really looking in oct and didn't. I think one if my very favorite things about WL is that walk down to the dock through the woods. Love it love it love it!

How fun to just explore the resorts with Brooklynn!

We've been to Tennessee both summer and at Christmas time. I have enjoyed both times. I love were my in-laws live but have no desire to be that close to them.

Wow, another update I loved back to back after that OKW one! WL is another Resort we just love. It will always have a special place in our hearts since it was the first place we stayed after joining DVC.

Thanks for the wish.

Enjoyed the beautiful views of WL. I love that place and would like to stay there one day!

Getting ready to head back to school tomorrow....I don't think I'm ready! This break went way too fast and was way to busy! Hope you have a great week!

Hi, i"m new just joining on BUT I'm getting confused so just wanted to get some clarification before I keep going! It's probaly because I am skipping the chit chat.

Brooklynns mom started the TR and then shortly later Memom is continuing. Did you switch user names or is it a diff person?

Brooklynns mom and Memom are mother and daughter. They write their trip reports together. Brooklynns mom will write when she isn't busy with her three girls.

Sorry for the confusion. MeMom is my mom. Back when we first started doing reports I was mommy to just Brooklynn and do I could contribute more. I am now mommy to Brooklynn and her two little sisters, Bella and Sophie Kate so my spare time is seriously limited. Glad to have you along for our craziness!

In Conch Flat General Store.

Some people were probably wondering, "Who's this crazy lady taking pictures of groceries?!"

We do, too. We stayed there several summers ago at the end of a summer trip. So nice, and now that I feel like I have 'ownership' in it, I have to visit it every trip. :)

That's a great walkway!

I am thinking I might designate one day of the March trip as a no park day and use it just for resort hopping. It's just going to be me and a friend, so we will only do a few rides and attractions in each park, anyway. I was actually thinking earlier today about how I am going to work in getting around to the main resorts I want to see and/or want her to see.

We have hot summers and cold-ish winters. Christmas can vary as to how cold. It can be 2 or 52! Fall is my favorite TN season. Are your in-laws in East Tennessee?

You are welcome. Hoping 2013 will be a special year for you guys! :thumbsup2

I put my rolling cart in the car a little while ago. It signaled the official end of dread-free Sunday evenings for a while. :(

So glad to have a new friend! :cool1:

Cara and Jill have explained it. I have more time to write and post pictures. Also, I am the one who takes the pictures, so you can fault me for the blurriness and the oddness. ;)

Brooklynns mom and Memom are mother and daughter. They write their trip reports together. Brooklynns mom will write when she isn't busy with her three girls.

And when she isn't busy with them, she needs to CRASH into bed herself!!!

And it is 'law' that Jill starts them. It makes me happy that she does that part to start us off. :)

Probably so.

But, I don't know them, and they don't know me, so it's all good. The important thing is that we have the information in pictures now, and I can rest easy knowing that if I run out of Ranch dressing, I know where to get some. :thumbsup2

MeMom, I've been following your and Jill's trip reports for several years (at least from before Bella was born), and I must say I admire your photographic talent. Do you have a ballpark number of how many Disney photos you've taken over the years?

Thanks! after a few more pages I did figure it out.
Doesn't take much to confuse me!

What were your full trip dates? we arrived on the 5th.

Thank you for the resort tours! My kids love eating at Whispering Canyon Cafe and "visiting" the WL. We haven't had a chance to stay there yet but I would love to some day.

I wouldn't begin to know! I probably take 200-300 a day average, maybe? I'd guess 3000 for a ten day trip, and then I delete some of the worst ones, so that cuts it down. I will keep up with the count on the March trip and let you know how it comes out. :)

You are sweet to say such kind words, and I wish I did have photographis talent, but I just point it and shoot it and hope for the best. I think my pictures are much, much more about capturing the moment and the feeling than in clarity of any kind. I wish I was smart enough to work one of the manual cameras, but I would be too impatient, and I would make a huge mess of things. My youngest son can really take some good pictures. ::yes:: He know what he's doing with the nicer cameras.

I am certainly glad you have decided to join in the conversation. It's interesting to find out what sparks someone to finally come on in and join the chaos when we find out they have been reading for a long time.

Brooklynn and I left on the 5th. The others had already left on the 1st.

Again, glad to have you here to try to sort out the confusion. :goodvibes

Whispering Canyon is one of Trent's favorite restaurants, and Wilderness Lodge is his favorite resort. Hope you get to stay there. It is nice!:)

LOVED your OKW pictures! We stayed there last January & I loved it. At first I was concerned about the size of the property but it was VERY easy getting around. It was only about a 5-10 min walk from the main bundling to where we were towards the back, and you could hop any bus at the stop & ride it to the main house too. And the rooms are HUGE. We had the 2 bedroom villa & it's bigger than my condo at home.

I am also a low salt person. It stems from being about 13-14 years old & after having a salty pretzel, I got sick. I was probably coming down with the flu anyway but ever since I can't eat pretzels with lots of salt.

One of my brothers got married this weekend, so we had some nice family time. Caroline was the flower girl & she was precious - I love that baby girl! :)

I've got 5 weeks til I'm in Orlando again - woo hoo!!! I'll be busy until then - we're designing a new website & I'm project manager - so it will be a welcome get-away. I also need to make ADR reservations for Mom & me. I think I've narrowed it down to California Grille, Brown Derby & Les Chefs de France. I also want to try Be Our Guest so I want to try & fit that in too.

I'm glad to read we're amassing a 2014 New Years group! I need to speak with my brother (we're partners at work) & see if he'll be around so we don't take time off at the same time. Barring that, I'm there!! I'm thinking I'd arrive around Dec 30 & stay that week until Jan 3rd - 4th.

The in-laws live in Seymour. My kids love the area and there is to do. They live on a private airport. The hubby and kids have gone on many airplane rides over the smokies. I can't because the planes are just to small. Can't get myself in one.
