My son also has Aspergers. His indecisions were from anxiety. I read in an anxiety book to tell the child that all the important decisions that have to be made that his dad and I would make them. The rest were preferences with no right or wrong outcome. He was 4 at the time we began this and it worked well for us. He doesn't have any problem making decisions for the most part. Now that he is 12 I get the 'I don't care' until I tell him he may not like the preference I have for him...then he gets bug eyed and speaks up!

My brother was like this. What is learned to do was ask his opinion. When he gave the "I don't know" or "I don't care" answer I just did what the others wanted. He would then complain and we just said "We asked and you did not care so we made the decision".

Sounds just as bad as the kid in my middle school class that would say "you know" before every sentence. I swear he said it a half million times in one day at school.

Our teacher would always say "no, I don't know" to try and point out that he was saying it. All the kids would laugh when she did that, but I think it went right over his head. As he would continue to talk without taking a breath.

It seems more like an anxiety issue rather than a depression issue.

For starters, try giving him options between something he really likes and something he really hates. As he starts picking out his favorites, then start giving him a second option that he likes, but not as much as the first. Until you reach two "equal" options.
