Two friends and I ate there last night and thoroughly enjoyed everything about the restaurant- food, atmosphere, service, everything! We went to DHS after we all got off work and at the last minute decided to go eat at Sci-Fi just for fun. I've read numerous reviews that say the food isn't too good, but we were very impressed with our meal. One friend and I each had the Italian Grilled Chicken Sandwich, and my other friend had the BBQ ribs. All three were pleased with the food, and let me tell you, they have the best cherry Coke I have ever had in my entire life!!! I couldn't drink enough of that stuff. Our server, Drew, really added to the experience though- he joked with us throughout the whole meal and was very attentive, keeping the drink glasses full and the empty plates cleared away (he definitely got a nice tip). The sci-fi movie trailers and cartoons were fun to watch while we ate (my friends and I made fun of how campy they were, but we secretly enjoyed watching them, we really did). Maybe it was just us, but I will definitely be returning to Sci-Fi and recommend it to anyone wanting to have a fun dinner at WDW.

First let me say I'm happy your visit was great. It makes me think that my experience was a one off. In 2004, My husband and I ate there. Not only was our food terrible, but the service to go with it was worse. I think our server brought us one refill and that was before we got our meals. By the time we got our food, we were letting our ice melt for water to wash it down with. She then only returned to bring us our check!!!!! Maybe we just got a server that was having a bad day. I think it would have been more enjoyable if the server talked and joked like your server had done with you. It is one resturant we are not rushing to go to again!!!

I'm thinking you had an off day as well. We've been a couple times and each time the food/service were great.

And when we first started planning our upcoming trip this June I told my husband that I wanted to try different restaurants that we haven't been to yet. He told me, "that's fine by me...but we HAVE to go to SCI FI DINER" Aside from Le Cellier in Epcot, I believe Sci Fi is his favorite restaurant. LOL He always gets the angus burger and loves it (so do my boys) I believe I got the reuben sandwich each time as that was good too. This time, I'm thinking of switching over to the burger since I've heard so many good things about it.

I say, go ahead...try it again. You just might be surprised how good it really is. Like you said, you probably just had a bad day there went you went.

We really enjoyed our Sci Fi experience as well. We stuck to the simple things on the menu, like the burger, and the food was fabulous. We are headed back this year so hopefully it will be the same. I can't wait to try those onion rings!!

We love Si-Fi. No it's not the best on property. For burgers, fries and a coke it's just fine. Our servers have alway been great. We received poor service at California Grill (it was like being in a French restaurant). I would pay just to watch the movies.

I'm surprised by the bad reviews too. We have never had a bad meal or bad service. It is a perfect lunch spot. Good burgers that are big and fresh. Crispy onion rings. The spinach dip is very good too. Milk shakes and desserts are wonderful. The themeing is fantastic. I just don't get the bad reviews. :confused3

I know I've been a couple time before but never had the burger yet. I do plan on getting a burger this time, just wondering if I could sub the fries for onion rings?

Glad you had a good time. This was a must do for us for years until a couple of years ago. They changed the menu for dinner and we don't like it anymore.

I'm so glad to hear this! We have an ADR for Monday at lunch.
Question: I had heard that there's a Tom & Jerry cartoon? Is this still true? My DD5 is a HUGE fan!

We found that too! The ribs used to be different and my husband LOVED them. We went back in January and were very disappointed with them because they were different. They are now just ok. Something we would not get again. The milkshakes were good but we were not impressed this time around. Maybe we will go back in a few years but there are other places we like better to go to and use our dining credits that this one will probably get passed over. Just my opinion. I like when others love there meals though. We try to hit every restaurant to tell what we like because people's opinions vary so much it is nice to know for yourself what restaurants you like and what you do not. :)

We love Sci-Fi, but have only gone for lunch. We don't get anything fancy, just sandwiches and sometimes an appetizer. Its typical diner food IMO, much like 50's Prime Time. We never had an issue with service, although bad service can happen anywhere and we do enjoy the atmosphere.

You could certainly ask your server, but on the menu, they offer a choice of either the fries or a cucumber-melon salad. I got the salad for a change of pace and really liked it--very refreshing.

We loved SciFi too. Our server was a lady from South America and was very attentive. We were on DDP and she pointed out that the boys could order big bottles of some kind of fancy water for their beverage. It was silly, but they really those bottles and brought them with us when we left. I had a burger and it was very good. My group ordered ribs and Italian sandwiches and everyone loved their food.

We'll be back, if for no other reason that it was so soothingly dark and cool in there. I find DHS to be glaringly hot on a sunny day and SciFi is such a restful break.

Im very excited to eat here so of course Im happy to hear this! My boss at work is very Disney and goes on a lot of trips. She told me to eat at the 50s place but when I booked I really didnt care for the food or atmosphere. I totally fell in love with the idea of the SciFi Dine In (made me thing almost of Pulp Fiction, remember?? Eating in a car is a must do before I die apparently..) and when I reported back to her my choices she was beside herself and tried to convince me that I will hate it.

But - shes near 60 and Im 30 and I think our tastes are just different. Not to say that 60yr old people wont enjoy SciFi and vice versa -- but Im more SciFi and shes more 50s.

When we first started going to WDW (early 90's) it was great. Then, it kinda' slacked off a little. We were back there in 2007 and it was fine, actually super, again. I will admit that we stayed with the burgers and sandwiches and stuff, but both food and service were great.

You can indeed. My husband and I get burgers and one of us will get the fries and one will get the onion rings and then we shared with each other.

It was still showing last time we were there. It's the one where Jerry is going to be the first mouse in space so, of course, Tom stows away on the spaceship.

We've eaten there twice so far and had great experiences both times. I think it can be hit or miss anywhere you go to eat.

Here's another vote for liking Sci-Fi! It's just a burger place, if you can get pass that then it's all good.

We've eaten there 2-3 times and always enjoyed our meal, but we especially enjoy sitting in the 57's Chevy under a starry sky and watching the old B&W movie trailers. The atmosphere is just unique and so refreshing after touring the sunny park.

Love Sci Fi!!! I try to eat there at least once during my stay and the food, service and stmosphere are always good. It does surprise me about the reviews. Also the movies that play, my brother and I have seen some of them on the late late late show when we were younger.
