I dont "get" digital cameras

while getting ready for our trip today my husband handed me his digital camera and said to use it on our trip today. He uses it to upload photos to insurance companys so never actually prints them. My question is if you have a "crap" printer how do you get your pictures off the little disk? Can you take it into someplace like Walmart to get them developed into real pictures? HELP I really don't understand how this is a better way to take pictures.

Some Wal-Marts and some Sam's Clubs have the ability to make "real" prints off of a digital camera. There are a few websites where you can upload your images and they will also make prints for you. Personally, I take my digital images to a local camera shop that makes 4x6 prints for $0.39 each.

The beauty of a digital camera (as my DW Sue is discovering) is that you can take a couple hundred photos and then pick and choose which ones (if any) to print. This winter, for example, we took about 50 pictures of our kids having a snowball fight with their cousins. We got some fantastic pictures that we would have otherwise not taken. Since there was no film and since we could immediately review the photos, we were less inhibited in our picture taking.

thanks guys as long as theres a way to get them done so they look like photos and not something with a lot of dots on typewriter paper!!

If you have a "crap" printer you may get a lot of dots.

I LOVE my digital camera!!! I have printed pics out before, but mainly I email them to friends and family who are far away. I can send the bday pics to gma and gpa who can't be here, while the party is still going on!!!

I couldn't live without it now.

I take my smart card out of the camera and take it to walmart to have the pictures printed in one hour for .29 each. Since I only have a 1.3 megapixel camera the shots aren't the best but my close ups turn out great (action shots are a real problem though so I take them with my slr)
