I don't care if I don't go on a single ride...

Tonight was the Halloween parade in our town. We took the kids plus a little girl I babysit. My DD loved it SO much. She was dancing and clapping and waving and everything. At one point I had to leave to take the other little girl home and I was practically in tears because I was missing my DD watching the parade. I don't care if I don't go on a single ride in DW. Watching my DDs reaction to everything is going to be way more fun anyhow.

It sure is awesome to see your kids experience the magical things like parades and WDW for the first time. It actually has made me cry on more than a few occasions. One of the best ones on the last trip was Fantasmic. He has had an old Disneyland CD of mine for a couple of years...he listens to it often, and it has the Fantasmic song. When my son realized it was Fantasmic that we were actually at, he jumped up and pointed and was like "MOM!!! It's Fantasmic!!!!"
He was so excited, and I got all teary. It was great. :wizard:

Me TOO !!
DH said last year it was the best trip we have taken anywhere. Just watching DD just 2.
WE are sooo looking forward to March 2010.

Awww. I'm excited to take my 17mo old too for the first time. :goodvibes I hope she enjoys it and won't be scared.

That's exactly how we feel. We don't care about the rides. Our trip is going to be all about our little ones. I can't wait to see their reactions to everything.

Totally agree! Took our girls for the first time last year and I was adament that we go to the Spectromagic Parade... that was the coolest thing when I was a kid. Made my poor family stand in the pouring rain for a solid hour... and then some pixie dust settled over the MK as the rain stopped and the parade began. I was elated to see my girls so awestruck by the lights as I was when I was their age. And then....... Tinkerbell flew down from the castle. I will admit... a tear or two!!

Agree! When we were at Chef Mickey's a couple of weeks ago, my dd6 was literally jumping up and down about to burst every time a character got near her. The look on her face alone made the trip worth every penny!

My kids are 6 and 9 now and I remember how they both loved the shows and parades. My favorite pictures are of them watching the parades.

We have been back for six months and not a day has gone by where DD has not mentioned how much she loves going to Disney. She is 7. And she also regularly thanks me for the sacrifices I make so we can share it together. I found that very touching.

My family went with my niece who was 17 months in June 2008. The highlights of the trip were watching her watch Spectromagic and Wishes, as well as riding IASW. Her whole face was lit up and she was clapping, and staring. Her binkie was hanging out of her mouth during the parade because she was just that focused. LOL. :rotfl:

My favorite memories of taking my kids to Disney for the first time was seeing their reactions to EVERYTHING! I had tears in my eyes the first time they saw the Castle and started running towards it. Rides are great, but seeing them enjoy themselves and getting SO excited to see the GREAT DISNEY icons makes the trip!

My husband and I have said the same thing. We could go to Disney World and not go on any rides and still have a fabulous time. The magic is still in the air. I'm really looking forward to when we can take our grandchildren and see how it lights up their eyes as well.
