I didn't eat the pavlova

Having been losing only 0.5lb for the last few weeks I had a chat with my Slimming World consultant and worked out that I've started to slip in extra sugar and fats in the form of the odd cake, biscuit, croissant - in fact anything but chocolate. These sugar and fats seem to be a real trigger for me and I start trawling the kitchen for food.

As I seem to be an all or nothing person I promised her that I would go a whole week without any white bread or other stuff that triggers a mini binge and see what effect it has on my weight loss.

Tonight I went to a Guide leaders meeting to find the hostess had made a beautiful raspberry pavolva for us to share. I calmly said "no thank you" and now I feel so PROUD of myself. Only 6 more days before I see the result.

You're a stronger woman than I! :) I would have taken at least a bite; then felt guilty afterwards.

WHAT WILL POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love pavlova! It's among my favorites!

Good for you!
I'm not sure what pavlova is but just the name sounds like it's a "few" calories...

Thetype I'm familiar with is basically a meringue shell filled with fresh fruit and topped with whipped cream.

Now that I think of it, only the meringue would be a problem if you used Cool Whip Free. Anybody know how to make it without using sugar?

GOOD FOR YOU, LIBBY!!!!!!!!!

Hm, would it be too corny to say you've "Libby-rated" yourself from sugar? ;) That really was a very cool thing to do! I am so proud of you for politely saying no! It's hard to turn people down sometimes, but you made the right decision. What you put into your body is alot more important than worrying about protocol. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!

I'm glad you were able to work out what it was that might have been keeping your weight loss at .5 pound (although that is still a great loss, as it all adds up over time!) I know you will make it through the rest of the week and who knows, by the end of the week you might just have no more desire for those types of foods!!!!

I have managed another day without the bread and biscuits etc. I hope that I can resist them long enough not to crave them at PMT time next month - time will tell. Anyway I was thinking does anyone know if sweeteners will perpetuate a sugar craving or help to overcome it. So many of the diet foods, drinks, yoghurts etc. are loaded with them.

Good for you, Libby!

I don't know if food items with sugar substitutes will keep your desire for sweet things going or not. That is a great question to ponder! I know I don't crave things like chocolates or cookies or cakes or pastries or ice cream. However, I do like a cup of hot tea and it has to be sweetened. I use Splenda in my tea and that tastes almost as good as regular sugar to me. But I don't find myself drawn to other sweetened foods as a result.

Hang in there! :) You are doing a wonderful job!!!

Pat yourself on the back!

It's going to easier each time you jump a hurdle.

You are strong. :Pinkbounc :bounce:
