I went ahead and paid the deposit for the CA-FL Repo. cruise! Thought I'd beat the Monday deadline crowd. I am so excited! I have never been involved with any 'firsts' in my live and I can't think of any other way I would want to experience that!

A lot of you probably already know this but just in case I thought I'd pass it along. While talking to the CM she mentioned that we can call and make payments along the way, kind of like a lay-away plan. So every month instead of putting the money away on my own I think I'll apply it to the cruise....but then again I could put it in my savings and earn a meager amount of interest....hmmmm.....but then if I apply it to the cruise I won't accidently spend it either......excuse my thinking out loud....

Feel free to offer comments/thoughts/ideas.

I think we'll make payments too. Actually, I'm even more interested in paying ahead of time for some onboard "credit." I think you can do this??? 14 days worth of drinks (even with our AAA soda card), souveniers, BINGO, and tours could really add up. Plus, for 5 of us, 14 days worth of tips is over $700.

I think we will be making monthly payments as well, and yes, you can pre-pay shipboard credits in multiples of $25.00

Thanks Verandah Man...I thought you could buy onboard credit. Do you know how far in advance I can start doing that? anytime?

BTW...I'm glad to hear you are recovering so well. Best wishes.

Jess

I beleive you could probably start now and go up to the day before your cruise. I think all you need is your ressie number.

that is a great idea!
will they take checks over the phone or do you have to use a credit card?
what happens if you don't use the money can you get it back at the end of your cruise?

"IF" you don't use what is in the account you will be refunded the difference.

You can call this # 1-800-601-8455 to purchase On Board Credits,
Mon-Fri 8am-10pm Eastern Time and Sat-Sun 9am-8pm Eastern Time

Congratulations on your booking! I hope the countdown goes quickly for you!

Thanks for the information about pre-paying for ship board credit. That is a great idea. Maybe for Christmas and other holidays when asked what we want I'll just say money and then put it toward the cruise and ship board credits.

CRSNDSNY: Thanks and I don't think it can get here soon enough! But I do need the time to pay for it so I will be patiently waiting and working.....

I second that, especially since I have a cruise this August and then another one in April 2005 to think about!!!

I have to join in and say I definitely need the time to pay this baby off. We were scheduled for a 4 day in 2005 but I think that is going to get axed as we are *most probably* doing the CA-FL repo cruise.

VerandahMan, I see we are going to be shipmates for two cruises:). August 21st of this year and the repo cruise.

Yes Ma'am!!!

Hey, I booked today also. That Mexican Riviera Cruise on Carnival for next Dec. is history. 14 days with the Mouse (and all of the rest of you DISers)- woo hoo!
I think it's a great idea to put money aside in advance, but I still think a low interest money market is better than letting somebody else have your money for free. If you consider the amount of money that needs to be put aside for shore excursions/ tips/ other incidental expenses, it is going to be quite significant. Find the best interest rate and make it so it will be difficult to write checks on the account.

I'm definitely going to set up an automatic deposit from paycheck to account for this baby. The sooner the better.

Hazel and I just decided to go for this cruise late last night, but luckily for us, a good DIS'er friend made a ressie for us Wednesday afternoon, right after the phone lines opened up. We had until this coming Monday to decide if we wanted to keep the ressie or not, so we said, "Let's go for it!!!" We are using this cruise to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary.
