Okay I know I said I'd never do it. I could deal with the heat....right....sure....it's not that bad...muhahahahaha sure!
Now a bit of history. I'm on 3rd floor, with 16 windows. 1/2 the house is southern/western exposure. Those windows bake in the sun. I bought the 3m window film for the windows that was suppose to cut down the heat by 70%...
Yesterday I shut all the windows, and came inside about 530ish....now house was locked up tight right? Should be 'livable"... HA! no go. My thermostat goes to 90 and it was pegged! I'd had it. Sweat was pouring off me just sitting. It was nasty....so.........
Off to walmart I went. they had these 5200 btu 100-150sq foot a/c units for 86 bucks.... Okay I said, we're gonna be cooled....bought 4 of them.
So now, 1 in the kitchen, 1 in the dining room, 1 in the living room, and 1 in my bedroom. The problem with the apartment is that the kitchen/dinning/living rooms all have double door openings. The dd's rooms dont have them, but 1 is off the dinning room and 1 is off the living room, so I put fans near the door to blow the cold air in. Set them all on high cool to drop the temp. When my thermostat got to 74, I turned them down to low and about 5 of the dial. Woke up this morning, and its 70 in here. Now that I can live with!
I'm not too sure what this is going to do to my electric bill, but I wont run them when it's not hot out. Today they'll stay on, but tomorrow we're only forcasted at 74 for a high...my electric bill now runs about $55 a month, so even a $50 jump would put me near everyone else that I know for electricity!....
on a side note, my chins are happy! yesterday they were sprawled out in the cage....today they're laying like normal!.....
