I did it! Soooo excited!

Congrats on your new addition, Jen! Your pics look great. I especially like the one of the door hardware(?).

Awesome shots...I just wish I had 1/2 the passion that you obviously do.

:thumbsup2 \

You have an amazing eye.

Thanks :goodvibes I get so inspired by all of the great photographers on this forum - kinda pushes me to keep going and working on getting better myself.

That is actually the top of an electric "bug zapper" we have in the backyard. It was really windy a few weeks ago and we took it down because it was banging against a window. I was outside talking to the hubster whom was doing some yard work, saw that and snapped the photo. I liked the textures and how the rain made the colors really pop.

Jennifer,

Good luck with the 5DII!

Your detailed explaination shows that you have carefully thought about your needs and have bought the best tool for the job. I wish everyone would evaluate their needs as well as use have.

From all reports that I have seen, dust shakers reduce, but does not eliminate the need for manual sensor cleaning.

Avoid shooting Christmas light with the 5DII or you will discover the "black dot" issue that have been reported. Canon has acknowledged the problem and is working on (firmware?) fix.

Thank you Paul.

I was aware of the black dot and banding issues before I even ordered the new camera - and also aware of the firmware fix that is in the works.

A few weeks ago I came across this link addressing the issue and a ?hopeful? fix until the firmware update. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1032&message=30276248

So far it seems to be working. I have not experienced the black dot issue.
