Thanks to everyone advice to book October early I pulled the trigger. Oct 17-28 booked. Hoping we can "swing by" Florida when the Army moves us from Virginia to ???.

I was going to split stay, but the kids were so excited about camping, and upgraded our air mattresses recently, so a 7 night stay sounds doable. Looking forward to several non-park days since we only get 4day hoppers.

Congrats! October is a great time to stay at the Fort.

I'll second the October timeframe as being a good one.

Congrats on the booking, you'll have a blast.

What a great time to visit. You'll be spoiled once you stay at the Fort. After that, coming back to Disney will equal staying at the Fort. With my kids, they love their FW days just as much as their park days.

PS - I responded to your question in my pre-trip report before I saw this post. I would be happy to help you prepare for your first tent stay. You can ask here, private message me or even call me. I know I was very worried about my first tent trip to the Fort and had a millions concerns.

We love tent camping and doing it at the Fort is extra special. Requires putting a complete list of stuff to bring along and not things that don't matter.

We'll be there too. For now we booked a full hook up site Oct 22-29. Hoping and praying we can extend through Halloween. If not I will have a back up reservation off site and return for trick or treating. We got annual passes and Nov 1st is our renewal date. So if we don't renew this will be our third week using them before they expire.
