I hope I don't regret taking one day from WDW to go there! If they open at 9, does this mean I can leave the Contemporary by Mears at 8-8:30? Do they open any earlier?

Hey, you and your family will have a great time there!

Do you have your tickets? Ordering them in advance from ticketmania.com or AAA will save you waiting in line for tickets.

If you have AAA,take your card for a l0% discount on food, merchandise, even the vendors carts stuff.

The parks maybe opened a bit early than 9 in March, but who knows. I guess I'd plan to be there around 8:45. If you're going during the week, probably won't be too busy.

Your dd will probably want to go to Hard Rock at the citiwalk. It's cool.

herc.

Disney is still #1, but Universal is definitely #1A. . . everyone's tastes are different, but I enjoy going to Universal just as much as WDW. . . and "Spiderman" is the best ride in Orlando. . :) :) :)

I'm sure you'll be glad you checked it out Jodi. . . I'd say (depending on the time of year) you should probably leave the Contemp by 8am to beat the crowds. . .:) :) :)

Have a safe and fun trip, and let us know how you liked it!! :) :) :)

Well...I hope it works out for you!

There's a bunch of folks here...whom I respect immensely....that enjoy it.....I'm not sure there'll ever be a day when I'll be there...but I do hope you have fun! :):):)

You'll love Universal! We spent 2 days there back in 2001 and had a blast. This summer, my boys (they're now 11 and 13) wanted to cut back on our time at WDW so we can spend 4 days at Universal. (Do I dare say that on the DIS?!) Don't miss MIB!

Every trip to Disney we make sure to plan atleast 2 days for US and IOA. We love both of them, they have some really great attractions. We are planning a trip this Oct to Disney and I have planned my additional time at US/IOA--we are going to Halloween Horror nights.

Spiderman is the best dark ride ever built. Its in IOA.

Men in Black and T2 3D are the best rides at USF.

Universal is giving Disney a run their money these days. They don't quite have the magic down, but the are building some amazing e-ticket attractions. You won't regret taking a day to go there. We usually buy a two day pass (not much more than a single day ticket) just so that we can get into both parks (IOA and USF) on the same day.

We're going for the first this year too and I'm having a blast planning for somewhere that I'm not familiar with. I'd forgotten how much fun it was! :teeth:

Did you say that you're using Mears? I'm still trying to figure out how to make a ressie with them.

Only one thing keeps us out of Universal - Disney Annual passes. We will try them some day I am sure.

Call them the day before you want to go (if you're staying in Disney, they should have a phone with a direct line to Mears).

Yes you can walk and it is enjoyable on top of that. The plaza and shops are near. We had to eat at the Nascar Cafe I think it was.
Have fun!

Yep, you sure can. . the entrances to both parks are fairly close to each other, with "City Walk" (Universals version of Pleasure Island, except it's not "gated") in between. . .

It's reall a cool set-up. . one large multi-story parking garage serves the whole place with moving sidewalks to and from the "City Walk"/entrances area. . :)

Not sure if you caught it, but Pete launced a new seperate information page for Universal. . here's a link if you'd like to check it out. . :) :)

After our first trip to Universal, we thought it was "ok" and debated about going back...then they opened Portofino and we decided to try it...now we're hooked. And the parks grow on us more each year. Spiderman is an awesome attraction...MIB is lots of fun too.
