Most of the fish that I caught in the KEYS (March) I have identified. Here are some fish that I got pics of before I laid my camera on the floor of the kayak (yes there was 2 inches of salt water in the kayak) that I have not identified. These fish all lived, my camera died a salty death.

a)This could have been a great pic, my arm got in the way. This guy was a good size that just jumped and jumped and got off (snapped 14lb line). Keeping balance in the kayak, rod in one hand, camera in the other, catching a swimmer jumping and my dam arm gets in the way ! ! ! I think it was a Spanish Mackerel. Not sure.

B) Was catching a zillion of these. Fair fight. Small to medium. Had to move there was so many. Looked like a Porgy that we get in the N Atlantic. No idea what they are.

C & D) After I moved I caught a bunch of these guys. Inch for inch the toughest fish I have ever caught. Not the biggest, but the toughest. All about 20 inches long and on light 6lb spinning gear, all I could handle. I was thinking about using my 5wt Fly Rod. No Way Jose ! ! ! Great Choppers. Must be some kind of Mackerel.---------john

John, I think that first fish is a white Margate, a type of a grunt.
The second fish kinda looks like a Cero Mackerel,,similar to the Spanish Mackerel.

I think,,:confused3 .

Mr. Born2fish (aka Frank)

Margate sounds good to me, but (there has to be a but) that is a town (Margate) just outside of Atlantic City NJ.

Cero mackerel could be right, but (another but) there were other mackerel I caught that were longer and beefier. I thought they were Cero. Now I got another mackerel miss-identified.

BUT, BUT, BUT---I may be confused, BUT in a happy state of Keys confusion.

I just hope this oil spill doesn't screw up the Keys margates and ceros and the other swimmers I caught. :confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

I showed my neighbor some fish/camping pictures on the computer. He said about the mackerel, "I had no idea carp or goldfish had teeth".

Just joshing, I said that fish is a trained, attack carp. His reply "really" ! ! !

I gotta get him away from the TV.
