I.D Needed?

I'm 25 and my boyfriend is 26 and I just wondered is it worth carrying I.D around with us? Such as going to the F&W Festival and also going to any bars etc

Are they really hot on asking for it?

Your ID will be requested and checked every time you try to buy alcohol. DD & DS are both over 21 and are asked for ID, even when DH or I are buying the drinks. I believe the penalties for selling drink to under age customers are severe.

im 28 partner is 32 we got asked at universal for id so yes carry it

Yes you need to carry an ID. I worked for WDW and their policy is to ask anyone that looks like they're under 30 years old.

yes they are very hot on checking IDs....

if you don't have your ID, they won't sell you alcohol - end of story...

having said that - they never ever card DS - even when he was 16, they never carded him....he just looks old...
while DD has always been carded, even long past 21....she's now 27 and they still card her...

so carry your ID!

We first started going in 1993 when I was 26, never been asked for ID for alcohol in all the years we have been going, neither has DW.
In 1993 we went with relatives, we spent one night at Pleasure Island, they wouldn't serve relative with alcohol age 25.
Chances are if you have ID they won't ask, if you don't they will.

Only time I get asked for ID is when using a credit card.

It is always a bit hit and miss - but in 2010 DH & I were asked for ID in the Hogshead in universal 'because we did not look over 40'

The kids (at the time) 12 & 10 had gone to find a table whilst DH and I queued - had they been with us we may have been ok. They had already poured the kids butterbeer but we refused it as DH could not get the beer he wanted so we said no to everything and left (it was a year later when i actually got to try butter beer!).

Ridiculous thing is we left HP world and walked to the first street vendor near Mythos and bought a Bud!

Since then we carry ID and we are 34 & 32 (with DD14 & DS12) - photo card on our driving license seems enough - last year I was only asked in Super Target buying cigarettes for our friends & Winn Dixie when buying Wine.

Never been asked in Disney - but to be honest - easier to have something to hand rather than walk away disappointed!

Some supermarkets its company policy for them to ask for id whatever age for alcohol,target comes to mind.if using credit card for buying things most ask for photo id as well.not worth not having with you

I know this is a pain in the derriere, but when I was buying alcohol in Disney last year, a very small number of places wouldn't accept my driving licence, stating that they would only accept my passport

This definitely happened in DTD twice; Bongos was one of the places, and I can't remember the other... But more often than not, the driving licence was OK.

Personally, I feel happier carrying my licence around and possibly getting refused in just the odd place rather than carrying my passport around and fretting that I'll lose it

Me too. Some of my friends use their passports for ID on nights out I wouldn't be able to relax!!

as we have only had photo driver licence for around 15 years we did use passports in the early days

I'm 24, boyfriend 26 and we always had our photo driving licences on us if we knew we'd be wanting a drink. Never had a problem at WDW, and at CityWalk they card you and then put a wristband on you to show you're over 21 when buying elsewhere that day.

However, I agree Beth that it can be very hit and miss. As I said, never had a problem in Florida but at CityWalk in LA the Hard Rock Cafe wouldn't accept anything less than our passports which we didn't have with us at the time meaning I couldn't get my Pickled Tink Never had a problem with our driving licences at HRC in Orlando though.

We also had an instance where our driving licenses weren't accepted as valid ID last year. This was at the little margarita stand in City Walk (ran by Margaritaville I think).

The guy said it was universal policy to only accept passports, which was definately news to me!! But then after we swiftly left there feeling like naughty teenagers - we were fine getting our cocktail fix at Latin Quarter and Pat O'Briens.

Like PP said, most of the time you are fine with your driving license - there may be the odd occasion someone doesn't accept it, but I don't know if I would risk taking my passport with me for that rare occassion.

Years ago, we went with friends - the four of us were all 26/27 years old. We went to Pleasure Island and were asked for ID on entry. The only one who had it was my husband so he got to drink all evening while we had to put up with the diet cokes while looking longingly at his alcohol!

Take the id!

We both just carry our driving licence photocard. Useful eg one of my tickets wouldn't scan but they let me in once they saw my id.

I've always needed ID at disney and i'm 37.
