I Cut My Hair! I'm getting [Dread] Locs! UPDATED - Pg 39!

Thank you for checking out my thread! It's been 2years and 4months. Now my hair can ALMOST go into a ponytail. Hopefully I'll be able to do so by summer.

Hey everybody! I've popped on The DIS looking for car rental and flight codes for September, so I thought I'd drop by my thread!

My hair is almost to my shoulders, and it's still a reddish-brown. I still love it, and people still ask me who does my hair, and are shocked to know I do it myself. This weekend I'm doing my hair, so I'll post some update photos!

I am glad to report that before my Mother (Gmax Mom) died in February, that she did indeed like my hair! Thanks again to all of the DISers who met her, and made her a DISconvert!

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. I'm glad she liked your hair! We're going again in September too. If you see us, you'll be shocked at how big my boy (who spilled your dole whip ) grew. Hard to believe someone so clumsy is such a beautiful soccer player . Maybwe we'll run into each other again!

Hey! You're the one with the "fake" kids! LOL! My Mother cracked up when I told her about that! I hope you'll post some updated pics! I know they are still absolutely GORGEOUS!

Hey Girl... I found you from your posts on my TR and I really love reading about other's on their loc journey. It is definitely an experience if nothing else. I read the first few and the last few pages on your journey and you seem to be really doing great. I cannot wait to see pictures. This October will mark my 11th year of growing my locs and its been a total love/hate relationship, but worth every moment of it to see all this crazy hair that is mine, that I groomed from the beginning.

On another note, thank you much for your blessings on my Dad. After reading your thread, I realized that there are others that know what I feel and are going through some of the similar emotional rollercoasters. Blessings to you as you continue to heal from your loss. I have no idea how long before I start to feel "normal" again but its great to have the type of support we do on DIS.

On yet ANOTHER note... LOL...I see you will be at Disney (I assume WDW) in September? We are having a meeting at the end of Sept/beginning of October so I will just miss you. However, our 2nd annual Diva DISmeet will be the first of week of May 2012 if you are interested!

Finally! I've taken some pics today! A week from today, my Locs will be Three years old! Can you believe it?!

In these two pics, you can see that my sides have gotten longer...

Here's the back...hopefully you can see the reddish-brown color I've been using. I let the color grow out for over a year before dying it again. As a result, I was able to get different shading. I REALLY like it!

And here's me!

Lately, I've been using Carol's Daughter Loc Butter to retwist my hair. It's more expensive than other brands, but for me, it does not hold as well. As for shampoo and conditioner, I'm still using anything that is Sulfate-Free to preserve my color.

To date, I can almost get all of my hair into a ponytail. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll be able to.

After looking at your pictures my DH and I were remembering what a sweet lady your Mom was (that was the main impression we got in the short time we met her). Seems like you were blessed with a great Mom .

What kind of shampoo are you using? The only sulfate free that I know of is Jonathon product.
