my dd dropped her i-pod touch in the toilet!!!! right now its sitting in rice....not sure if it will work or not??? Anyone else have any other ideas???

My roommates in college always seemed to drop their phone in the toilet, pool, heck, even a glass of water.

We always took the battery off, put it all in a ziplock bag of rice, and put it in the freezer for an hour or so. Then we took it out of the freezer and let it sit in the rice overnight.

Usually, it worked. I'm not sure if this would be helpful in the way of the iTouch but hey, it's worth a shot.

Maybe you should call Apple and see if they have any suggestions?

This drives me nuts about girls carrying their phones, etc. in those little back pockets on their jeans. It doesn't take much for it to slip out and into the toilet . Our kids know that we won't replace phones until they can get their free ones so if they don't take care of them, oh well. So far so good though.


As for drying out the phone, it seems like from what everyone here has said, several days in a bag of rice works the best. I would change out the rice once/day to maximize the drying effect.

You can't remove an iPod Touch's battery easily. Make sure it is turned off and put it in a ziplock bag of rice for about 3 days. Good luck!

Much will depend on how long it was in the water...

The rice trick may work, but expect to keep it in the rice fully covered for a few days, not just hours. The key here is to make certain it is fully dried out before turning it on. Any moisture in the area of the battery will fry it permanently.
