My hairdresser managed to talk me into a side fringe this morning. My hair is waist length, almost black a bit like the singer from the Pussycat dolls and just had some very light layers in it. He took about three inches off the length and then cut this AWFUL side fringe that is thick and heavy and mushroom like and had made the rest of my hair look really thin now because he has made the fringe too thick. I can get it back into a ponytail but there are all these short bits poking up at the top of the hair band. I don't know what to do I hate it. I wish I could turn back the time to two hours ago before he messed up my hair. My friends have lovely fringes but this one is awful. Its like Cher's wierd half bob half bum length do when she was on the the Sonny and Cher show!

 oh no !! have you tried washing it and styling it yourself that sometimes helps me if i hate a cut xx

 So sorry to hear that you're unhappy with your haircut. Like Nat says, wash it, and have a play around with it. I hope that works out for you

I would agree with washing it, If the hair dressers hair dryed it a certain way and used products in can add quite a bit of volume to it so it may be fine.

I had ALL my hair cut off last week. When I left the hair dressers I looked like my older brother! As soon as I washed it and styled it myself (well as much as you can with short hair) I liked it much better. Now a week later I'm not so shocked when I catch my reflection in a window. :rotfl:

Thanks for the advice everyone, I've washed it and tried doing it again just now and it looks REALLY poofy and heavy still. The worst bit is the side where it isnt blending in at all there is just a big choppy bit - its like Agnetha from Abba or something. I've figured out that I can grip it back and you can't tell I have a fringe - I'm just going to have to put up with a massive quiff for the next six months or so :rotfl2:.

There is nothing worse than a bad haircut  WOuld getting the fringe thinned out help at all ?

One of my best friends is a hairdresser and that is EXACTLY what she said to me, but she isn't offering to help haha! I'm kind of scared to go to anyone new as well. I do think it definitely needs thinned out though.

Just ask your BF ;)

My daughter has a really think fringe if it is not thinned out so maybe the way to go

I made the same mistake a few months ago and had exactly the same problem - curtains with a bouffant pelmet. No amount of washing and fiddling made any difference, so I ended up phoning the hairdressers and arranged to go back in. I was very specific about what I didn't like about it and exactly what I needed "sorted out". My hairdresser thinned it out and blended it into the side lengths. It was quite short so I still didn't love it, but at least it no longer had a life of its own :rotfl:. Find a photo of something you like and tell the hairdresser that's the look you're aiming for. A fringe grows so fast that you'll be well on the way to what you want in a couple of months. I can barely see through mine at the moment and I've been resisting the temptation to take the scissors to it. I can't wait to get to the hairdressers on Tuesday. :teeth:

I think I might have to go and get it sorted. Trouble is, I only had my haircut by this person to save money, I'm out of a job at the moment due to my teaching placement falling through, and I feel I should go back to my normal stylist (the one who charges £18 to just trim an inch off, no wash or blowdry) as I trust him implicitly but I reckon he will be annoyed at me that I let someone other than him cut my hair. I think perhaps the teacher at the hairdressing college may be able to sort it out though as they must be used to sorting out messes :confused3?

Oh you poor thing. i can totally relate to how bad you are feeling right now  Years ago, when i was 18 i had spend ages growing my hair and wanted a slick bob. i asked her for a bob and she cut a mullet instead :scared1: all my hard work of growing it was wasted and I hated it. to make matters worse my family said it suited me and was ok! HELLO!???

I have never has a bad cut since as it was a lesson well learnt. Always be specific. trust me, this will never happen again ;)

What a nightmare. I would go back to your original hairdresser (the one you trust) and get him to save the day. Any hairdresser would be glad to welcome back a client - not be annoyed! I did this once - I went to another salon for a special offer and then had to go back to my own hairdresser pretty sheepishly. She was fine as I just explained that I wanted to save some money.

Have you considered asking your favourite hairdresser whether they do cuts 'on the side'? I asked mine and she has agreed to cut it at home for me. The same cut for a fraction of the price and all the money goes to her, so we're both happy.;)

I have decided... If you squint :magnify:... it looks very Penelope Cruz..

And she has gorgeous hair ..

So everything will be ok as long as everybody squints when they look at me for the next year or so :rotfl2: You know sometimes in life, you've just got to be deluded! Especially when you have had a bad .. ahem sorry ... Penelope Cruz style .. haircut. Oh dear, I do hope I manage to convince myself :rolleyes1.
