I finally got my WDW Anniversary trip firmed up and have been watching fares. I love Jet Blue and they have been so high. We decided to go SW and I waited until it dropped to 94/114. Plus we paid the extra 40 for early online board. Jet Blue for the past few weeks was about 124/150.

I checked today on a whim and it is 70/70. That is well over 170 dollars savings.:guilty:

Anyone else to join my pity party? That is so much money!!

I thought SW gave credits if their prices went down?

Which airline did you check today, SWA or Jet Blue? If it is SWA, then you can get a credit. If it was Jet Blue, then I'd cry too! :dance3:

This is why once you have your airfare booked, unless you booked Southwest, you should never go back to check prices. Airfare changes so much you can drive yourself crazy. :scared:

Add Airtran to that short list as they also will give you a credit if the fare decreases.

except if u've booked AirTran, always a good shot of ur flight time changing:rolleyes1...think of it as an opportunity to grab a DING or lower SWA flight & get full refund from AT.

It was Jet Blue. I can only hope for a Ding and hopefully apply it for my later trip with my kids. I am just sick.:sad2:

Yep. Unless you plan to rebook and keep a credit, you never, ever, never, ever go check the airfare. I recently bought tickets to Philly on United. Whenever I even hear "airfare to Philly" I put my fingers in my ears and go "na, na, na, na". I don't want to hear it. I'm already booked and paid for and there's not a thing I can do about it.

If you fly more than once a year, can't you forgo your SW seats, keep a credit, and book on JB?

This was my 1st thought too. You'd have a year from original purchase date to use your Southwest credits.
If it doesn't bother you enough to do that, let it go.

So, cancel Southwest and book JetBlue. Your SW credits will be good for a year from the date of purchase.

That's exactly what I would've done (and yes I've done it). We go to WDW about 4-5 trips a year, but it all depends whether the OP has the option to use the credit for another flight within the timeframe. Recently I wanted to switch my SW flight (next week) to Jetblue, but had to stick with it just to use up the expiring credits. Same price for both, just like JB better. This is no longer an option for me as the non-stops out of Dulles have been discontinued this fall.

Never ever check your flight cost after you have booked. It will only make you crazy! Unless you have booked on an airline that gives credit, and then you need to call asap!

I usually have a budget in mind, and as soon as the tickets hit that price, I buy. I don't need to get the very lowest deal, just one that's low enough to be reasonable. Usually, this gets me much closer to the bottom than the top of the price line.

No one can predict the future perfectly, so don't sweat the fact that you don't either!

Really? JetBlue is not flying nonstop anymore to MCO this fall?

Thank you for your words of wisdom. I am a novice traveler, lol. I am getting over it and actually looked into the cancelling and reusing. Although I looove JB, it would cut out about 6 hours of Disney time. Although that sounds little, my DH and I are only going for 3 nights.

I will look for a Ding, and we will be on a 6:15 am flight headed south!:thumbsup2

Live and learn. Thank you everyone. This forum of DIS friends is so helpful. I hope you have pixie dust thrown your way.:tinker:

Or just check the regular flight area...their getaway fares might drop as well.

I personally have noticed that all the airlines I check (SW, Virgin America, Alaska for the most part with the occasional glance at JB when I've forgotten our more-negative-than-on-other-airlines experiences) go up and down basically together. So if JB dropped on flights I was looking at, I would be checking the others and would expect a drop soon.

I think the PP met Southwest out of Dulles is no longer flying nonstop to MCO. That is the reason she is sticking with her SW flight and not switching to JB. She doesn't want the SW credit as it will not do her any good since SW is no longer flying nonstop from Dulles to MCO.

We are using JB out of Dulles for the Fall and our flights are nonstop. I did look at SW and they do not have direct flights out of Dulles to MCO for our time frame. Also, SW was much higher in price!! JB prices keep fluctuating but we got ours at what I believe will be the lowest price.

I realize its hard...but as other posters have said...don't go looking at prices after you bought...just remember...there are other people who are probably spending more than you!! Have fun on your vacation.

No SW is no longer flying non-stops out of Dulles starting this summer/fall. JB is still flying non-stops, at least until Oct. 31 and hope the new schedule has the non-stops out of Dulles.

Thanks tinkerbell313 for sorting out my comment. We are flying to MCO on SW this Saturday, but home on JB (May 7).
