:confused3 The coffee tasted great. But the coffeemaker was dripping slower than before. So I ran vinegar through twice and rinsed clear water through several times before using. Now a few weeks later, the coffee still tastes bad. The coffee is also not as hot as before, which is probably why the taste is off. :(

Suggestions? :drinking1

During highschool I worked as a waiter at a country club and they cleaned their coffee pots using salt and a lemon wedge.

The vinegar routine is a good protocol, with two or three rinse cycles. If the coffee maker is not getting water hot enough, anymore, then surely would account for the coffee tasting bad. I suppose it is possible that cleaning could actually remove deposits that were perhaps holding the heating element together.

My husband told me that there is a filter in our drip coffee pot that I should remove before I run it through the clean cycle, especially when I add vinegar. Why? I have no idea, he's the one that pays attention to all the techie details and owner's manuals :). Could the filter be your problem? I think you're supposed to change the filters every so often also. Maybe that will help with the taste issue.
Could you have possibly bumped the setting for the the heat element at some point and accidentally turned it down? If that isn't the problem how old is it? Perhaps it's wearing out.
Good luck!

We have a filter in ours too. If you don't take the filter out before cleaning it with vinegar, the filter can soak up the vinegar and give you an unpleasant taste. I run 6 pots of water through my machine after I have cleaned it and have never had an unpleasant taste.

I cannot agree about not cleaning the coffee maker. It does indeed need to be cleaned regularly. You just need to take the filter out during the cleaning, replacing it with the filter block typically provided. Actually, you should probably be replacing the filter at the same time you're cleaning the coffee maker.

Hmm, I'll have to look for this filter. :scratchin

What is the name of your machine, and have you tried using filtered water?
