I changed to second dining

We also prefer late dining. On our last cruise we had to do early due to the group we were with and their young kids. Mine never minded at that age but all kids are different. Anyway, I didn't like it. I felt very rushed after port days. During late dining, we usually get back, order room service for a snack and take our time to get ready. Then we go to the show or get a drink. much more relaxed.

I like the late dinner because after eating I get sleepy. I find that with the early dinner we tend to skip the meals a lot. That said, DH prefers the early dinner (maybe because he skip it a lot - LOL).

So my situation is different than most. My DD is a crew member so we sail to visit with her. We have to take late dining as that is the time she is free to join us in the MDR. We really dislike it as it’s far too late for us. It’s just not a good feeling to have dinner and then go to bed within a couple hours. For my DD she could care less. She’s used to eating at weird times and doesn’t really eat much. She gets tired of the ship food and just stops eating. Anyway, both dinner seatings are not great. The early, too early and late, too late. It’s not uncommon for us stop going to the MDR after 3-4 nights.

At home I will usually eat early around 5:00-6:00pm on days off.

On cruises my dad and I now do late. We did early up until 2011, now we enjoy late

for FL cruises we do late dining, since we've from AZ! for SD sailings we do early dining. this keeps us close to our usual eating times

I am sailing with my two adult daughters in April and just switched to late dining and put in a special request for a private table. Do I need to put in a request under their name as well or is the request good for all of us in our party? We are under one reservation and in same stateroom.

It is good for all in your party. If you do not see that you got the private dining on the app the day you embark go to the club (Luna, Sarabi, Sansa, etc) as soon as you get on the ship and see if they can ensure you get a private table. It is not guaranteed but they may be able to do some switching around, maybe.

I didn’t realize that you can find out if you have a private table on the app day of embarkation. And if not I will for sure see what they can do once on ship. Thanks for the info!

Again due to our circumstances, we get a private table and it does not say that in the app.
