Hi,
I also get motion sick. I won't attempt mission space, but I was interested in the star wars ride at MGM. Will it make me sick??? Does dramamine help? I've never taken it.
Thanks!

I get motion sickness easily. I'd never go on Mission Space or even the teacups, but Star Wars was ok.

Sadly, I don't know that anyone can answer this one for you with true accuracy.

I take drammine (sp?) before going every day to the parks. I am not OVERLY sensitive to motion, but I do get icky feeling if my son's get the tea cus going fast and woud not miss Star Tours or Mission Space, but both left me feeling a little off for about 30 minutes after riding if I didn't take the motion sickness meds.

BUT...there are all sorts of signs apparently (I missed them) that say to look straight ahead and whatever you do DONT close your eyes. I never noticed them and a couple of times did close my eyes on Mission Space. Dont know it if would help if you followed the rules.

DH and I have ridden ST many times (usually in the front row). I had heard there was much more motion in the back row, so I specifically asked for it.

DH couldn't get off that ride fast enough! I thought he was going to be sick. (I, on the other hand, loved it).

Dramamine will help.

The only ride that made me sick was Body Wars. Never had a problem at ST.
Re closing your eyes: I think at ST closing your eyes would actually ease motion sickness. It is at M:S you don't want to close your eyes or look away from the screen. :earsboy:

I don't get motion sickness, but my experience with dramamine (sp?) was not a good one... I took it the first night on a cruise, and I ended up just falling asleep, and missed all the fun that night.... just my experience though...

I spin in my office chair and get sick...Star Wars doesn't bother me at all :)

My sister gets motion sick very easily but Star Tours has never bothered her, and she doesn't have to take dramamine beforehand either. But I suppose it all depends on the person. Hope that helps :D

Closing your eyes in Star Tours and Body Wars helps because the actual vehicle doesn't move that much. It's the visuals that make it seem a lot worse.

Well, I'm the exact opposite of every one else. Spinning rides don't bother me at all, I ride Mission: Space and the tea cups (and I always spin the wheel to go faster) without any problems, yet Star Tours is the only ride in WDW that I almost got sick on, and we rode in the front row which is supposed to be the tamest row. So go figure. After Star Tours, I've never been brave enough to try Body Wars (I've heard that's even worse). Good luck in your decision and I hope you don't get sick!!

Bonine works much better for me, dramamine makes me tired, and thirsty!! I rode Star Wars years ago, with absolutely NO problems!! I could look at the side and see that we werent moving...

this time, eeeYIKES get me outta here NOW!! OMG! I really tried looking at the side (front) of the craft, and the side to make sure my powerful mind knew this was not real, this was not real!! LOL, now dd 8 was scared, but once she got in, it was no big deal!! I hated to admit I almost lost it!

I didn't have any problem on M:S, but my sister got sick.

Star Tours, on the other hand, made us both sick. We were both nauseous for the rest of our day, and my neck hurt for the whole day.

I would go back on M:S in a second, but I'll never touch Star Tours again!

I hate spinning rides, but felt perfectly fine after Mission Space. I was ok on Star Tours, but felt a just a bit yucky when it was over.

I get Really motion sick as well...can't sit in the backseat of a car (at least not when its moving:)...Star Tours was fine, but I will NEVER ride Back to the Future at Universal again!!!!!

After riding Star Wars it dropped me to my knees when we got off!!!! I was not right the rest of the day!!

I have to disagree with the limited vehicle motion on Body Wars. I suffered a neck injury while riding this ride. For a week I suffered from terrible headaches and for 3 weeks I could not turn my head. If I had seen the warning sign before we went on Body Wars, I never would have ridden it in the first place, because I originally injured my neck riding the wooden roller coaster, Ghost Rider, at Knott's Berry Farm 2 years before.

BTW, Body Wars at Epcot is the same ride as Star Tours at Disneyland. I will never go on either ride again.

Thanks for the replies everybody! Lots of advice and opinions. We are leaving tomorrow and the jury is still out on this one. I think I will wait and see what I feel like when I get there. I hope I'm not like this :worship: after I get off the ride! :rotfl2: Pixie dust for everyone! I'm going to Disney World Woo Hoo!!
