Check it out:

Walt Disney World Co. has received approval from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) for Disney's Contemporary Suites (the as-yet-unannounced highrise DVC resort on the site of the Contemporary Resort North Wing). Undoubtedly, this is one of several regulatory filings that must be approved. The files were posted today by the SFWMD on their website. The files include drawings and descriptions. Take a look: Go to http://my.sfwmd.gov/ePermitting/PopulateLOVs.do

In the "Application #:" field, type 061106-23. Do not bother filling in any other fields. Press the "Run Report" button. You should get one result (for project Disney's Contemporary Suites). Click on the blue text "Appl No#:" You should get a page which includes three folders with a total of six PDF files. Open the PDF files (some of which are quite large), and read all about it!

You aren't the first. This keeps coming up. However, Disney still has not done anything else to confirm it and ...... they can (and do) change thier mind so who knows. (They had permits for Eagle Creek!)

Well, then, that would be why... :)

Although the demolition of the wing certainly lends some additional credence.

I was all excited when I saw the pics on all ears of that bulldozer knocking down the north wing building. :)

WOW!!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

That is awesome!!! You made my night!! It states that this is a DVC -16 floor crescent shape building to be built on the site of the North Wing.!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thank you!!!

They are definitely going to build something. However the big question is, will it be DVC, resort suites, or a combination of both.

My vote is both.

If they are calling it "Disney's Contemporary Suites", I would not assume that means DVC. Any DVC is called "Villas".

Personally I think that is how they covering having to make an official DVC announcement. I think it will be built under the guise of Contemporary Suites but lay the ground work for the future DVC.

Which is the reason my contacts keep saying the project is an expansion of the current rehab of the Contemporary resort and not DVC.

That definitely makes sense to me.

And as much as I want the Contemp. DVC....please, not that c-shaped thing!

Budget priced suites are the hot new thing with hotels. Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites, Amerisuites, etc. I think there's a possibility Disney may get into that, although probably at a higher price, not necessarily with DVC. With the huge construction project at AKL, the timing does not seem right for DVC.

Look at page 12 of 72 of the permit application (3rd one down) It specifically states that the "Proposed project is for the Disney VAcation Club(DVC) to be built at Walt Disney World Florida where the North wing is currently.

It also states that is will be 16 floor crescent shape building.

However, It could be both as suggested above-- I could live with that!!!

I saw that too. I have absolutely ZERO interest in a high rise villa, a villa at the Contemporary, or a villa close the MK. I'll stick to my AKV add on and be VERY happy!

I wonder if they build a CR DVC, when they would officially announce it? I think they are still selling SSR, soon to be selling AK DVC, so I can't imagine selling three seperate DVC's at once. Does anyone know the most DVC resorts they've sold at once?

I think it will be just what it says: suites. They have been adding suites to other on-site hotels and it could be that someone figured out how much revenue Disney is losing from people renting DVC points...maybe they just want in on the action.

SSR is expected to sell out this year (by Fall). AKV's main phase won't open until 2009. So I think you'll probably be seeing AKV sell for the next 18-24 months, perhaps up to 36 months. (SSR started selling in what? Late '03/early '04 and has a third more rooms?)

It'll take time to build that 16 story building. Until it goes up, you won't have occupancy. That could affect sales and use big time. But reasonably, I doubt we'd hear something on that until late this year or early next. Then it might be pre-construction sales and take another year or two before you can actually stay there.

My bet is we will see a DVC though. Suites are popular but not enough to justify a 16 story high rise. For that, you're better off rehabbing your rooms or building smaller wing. All you really need is a kitchenette for a suite.

As for past history, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't HH, VB, and BWV all open within a year of each other?

Did someone say there was a picture on allearsnet of a bulldozer razing the North Wing? Where is it? ......I can't find it on allearsnet. Thanks.

Well it does says DVC right one there just like Tink-n-Belle said. It is hard to imagine it not being. We'll have to wait a couple years but you never know.
