I'm hoping to keep it a secret til we get on the ME buses. LOL DD4 knows we have a family surprise coming up...we're keeping a countdown, but she doesn't know what it is. :) She keeps saying it's Disney...but I keep telling her no. LOLOOL

DS11mths doesn't care. :)

26 days to go!

I know the feeling. We have been holding in our surprise since June 23 and we have 16 days to go. We were in WDW in June and upon return decided to go back for a long weekend. We decided to make it a surprise for dd 7th bday. Our 3 younger ones have no idea. They would never think we would go back in the same year. Ds 20 is so over Disney so he will not be coming. We have not told to many people either. Just my one sis' knows because I did not want anyone spoiling the surprise! I cant wait any longer. It is killing me. We r going to tell her/them the night b4. I had DISign team make me a shirt for her bday surprise.I also have one for Ds. Got to get baby one. Good luck with keeping it in! Have fun with surprise!

15 days left for us! Last year we drove to the bus station just to "check" it out, took out the video camera, and told the kids that we're going to Disney RIGHT NOW!! They loved it. They were 2 and 6. This year we couldn't really hide it so they know we are going to Disney this month, just not the day. The oldest is even going to school that morning. We are going to pick him up early and say we have some errands to do, and surprise him at the bus station. Hopefully it will all work out. I have the suitcase in the attic, and now that he's back to school I can start seriously packing. :)

I could NEVER pull this off. First of all, we've been going as DVC members for several years, so it's pretty much a "given" that we're going. Second, I am such a planning freak (even after going so many years) that my planning STUFF would be just about every where for everyone to see. And third, I'm a talker and just can't keep all of that excitement and planning stuff inside.

We''re going soon, too, and I am very excited this year because my sister and her family are finally joining us for our trip to WDW!!! I have been trying to get her to come along for almost 10 years!

LOVE THE SHIRT!!! :thumbsup2 I was thinking of maybe doing something along those lines-but our plans changed slightly-for the better-so now we're leaving early in the morning~they're gonna be so confused when we wake them up and tell them our "news" :rotfl:

I have surprised my kids twice. The first trip Oldest DD was 5 she woke up that morning we were leaving right as I was going in to wake her up 7am I asked her if she wanted to do something fun that day. She said yes. I said want to go see Mickey! She was so excited. Youngest DD was 11 months.

This July I surprised them again. I told Oldest DD and nephew the night before. We had DD's 6th birthday party that day. I pretended peter pan and the lost boys had hid one of her presents. We then went on a scavenger hunt. With the prize being a letter saying we were all going to WDW the next day. DD 6 her birthday the day we left, Nephew 4 youngest DD 21 months. my mom and me.

Wow, congratulations, that sounds like so much fun. I wish my son was still excited enough about Disney for me to do this for him, unfortunately he's Disneyed out, and he's only 11. Sigh, how can I turn him back?

We leave Saturday morning and DD(4) has no clue we are even going on vacation. When I pick her up from daycare, we are going to act like it is any other Friday and that we will be back on Monday. :lmao: Then I will wake her up really early Sat to get on a plane. I am really looking forward to her look of joy when we finally tell her. :thumbsup2

I will probably cry when that day comes in our home-when disney isn't magical to them anymore~but how as moms & dads do we still feel the magic?? maybe it's when we become parents....???

Yay!!! We also only have 15 days to go! We also are doing a surprise trip for my 5 year old DS. We told him we are going to visit my mom in California, which wasn't a fib....we actually are going to CA, but on Sept 30th. :goodvibes So we have it all planned out to just let it ride, until my DS realizes that we are either on our way (on the plane) or I am hoping in the airport when we land. If I can keep him thinking we are in CA until he sees the DME counters, I will consider it a very successful surprise. If he finds out on the plane, he will create a pretty big scene plus be confined to an airplane seat when he feels like jumping around and being excited. :wizard: I can't wait!!! :cool1:

I'm sure this is going to work great for you guys, and I'm really excited for you; but if anybody's gonna try this my two pieces of advice are 1. really think about how the kids are going to react to a change in expected routine with no notice and 2. try not to expect too much in the way of a response, so that you're not disappointed if it's not what you're hoping for.

Let's just say I have some experience with this, and um, well, my reaction to their reaction wash, shall we say, not my finest moment. There were tantrums and tears, and the kids were worse!
