We are going in September for our first trip since having DS. I really wanted to eat dinner there on night. But I can't get in. Last week when I called the earliest reservation was 8:55pm for every night we were there.

Should I keep calling and trying? Or should I give up in favor of something else? I was able to get Chef Mickey's for breakfast one day.

Keep on trying...I had been trying to get CM for breakfast since December. Couldn't get it, continued to try after we arrived and got it for this past Friday (on Monday or Tuesday, I got the reservation).

I have also had a really hard time getting a breakfast there. Right now, we have a 9:10 dinner reservation, but that is SOOOO... late for us. I am going to keep trying to get a breakfast one. I have NEVER had trouble getting a reservation for Chef Mickey's until this year. What is different?

We have always had trouble getting a ressie there. We have found that if you go to the restaurant you will almost always get a table in about an hour, especially with free dining in Sept. a lot of people will double book and not show up. But keep trying there is lots of time left.

I would book something else as a back-up for that night but then keeping call to see if you can get CM. My DD really wanted 50's Prime Time during free dining last year and it was totally booked for the night that I needed but I finally got it after I kept calling back for a few months.

I called everyday for about 5 days, and the last time I called he said, yes i have a 5:15 open, do you want it. So people do cancel. Now I am doing the same thing for Ohanas...

I say keep trying however if you still can't get one for dinner at least you have an ADR for breakfast, which is better then not there going at all.

How about a late lunch instead...several people have recently said that they were able to get a lunch as late as 4:45 at many other places...might be worth checking into.

the last couple of years during free dining during selected weeks they opened Chef Mickey's for lunch (it's not normally open for lunch).
Sorry...didn't realize that. we had ate there for lunch years ago and were disappointed so decided to stay clear of anything but breakfast and guess I just hadn't paid any attention to it.

As a last attempt you may want to try to show up right when they open,(5:00 I beieve) and ask for seating availability. We were able to get seated without a res. on our last trip by showing up at 4:45, we had a party of 5. We have also had some luck at other restaurants using the same strategy. Good luck and keep calling, times open up closer to your travel dates.

I would keep trying as people cancel all the time.....you never know when an opening might become available :goodvibes.

I had no trouble with all our ADR. I had trouble getting CSR. Still trying we are at POFQ. Keep trying.

Did you take the 8:55? If you really want CM, I'd take it (if it is still available) and then plan the day accordingly. Maybe do a pool day with a late breakfast and then a snack later in the afternoon. If it doesn't work out that you can fit it in, you can always wing it somewhere else for dinner and call and cancel the CM ADR.

what date are you looking for in September? I have an adr for Chef Mickeys at 5pm on Thursday 9/11 that I will be cancelling.

The best time to call truly is 7 am, yes it is early, but that is where there are some more times available, I dunno why but has always worked for me, or about 1 in the afternoon, I have no clue why but this has always worked. keep trying, I once called 3 times one day and got my ressie, yes i now can repeat back the whole DD spiel...lol, press 1, press 1...etc 10 digit resort code and pound..hahah:rotfl2:

I didn't take the late ressie because DS will only be 21 months old when we go. I really don't think there is anyway he would last until then. I don't want to be the one with the fussy baby at dinner.

I will keep trying though. Thanks everyone!

BTW we are going Sept 12-19th, but thanks for the thought!
