Argh!!! Back at the 11-month window, I booked the week prior to Christmas. It made so much sense -- my kids had that week off this year, we have a Dec. UY and we got APs in January. Everything seemed perfect...

But now I get the calendar for next year for school, and the kids don't get off until Thursday! I can deal with pulling them out for just three days, but I'm also hoping, hoping, HOPING to get a job at the school next year, and I sure couldn't take off for vacation. I know I can just wait until the school year starts and see if that actually turns out to be an issue or not. But I keep thinking that if we need to look at a different time, I need to get my reservations ASAP.

The only other times I see as possibilities are Thanksgiving and *eek* the week between Christmas and New Year's. I'd have to get it done before mid-Jan.

How awful would Thanksgiving be? I've heard the horrible stories about the week following Christmas, but not so many about Thanksgiving. Oh, heck, I don't even know if I have the points to go then or if I HAVE to wait until December.

You all are a creative group - help me out!

Karen - Can't help you much, but if you have points coming in December (your 2005 points), then you can borrow those and go any time. Good luck!

Thanksgiving is similiar to a spring break week - not nearly as bad as Easter or Christmas - but definitely more crowded than summer weeks generally - looks like this year summer may be in demand more.

Correct. Just remember that they are borrowed at the time of the reservation and can't be returned to the original Use Year. If you borrow points to book Thanksgiving week '05 and something else later interferes, those points still have to be used by 11/30/05 or they are lost.

We've gone at Thanksgiving several times and loved it! I did not think that it was as crowded as our Spring Break week (which is always the week before Easter), and the Christmas decorations are up!

Well, we have some points to borrow, but we've been in a borrowing mode so we're already in the red. For Thanksgiving, we'd need to stay in a studio to have enough points (not our first choice). Plus, if it's pretty busy, my DH would be pretty crabby. Maybe I'll keep that as my third choice.

Re-analyzing the situation, we have a four-day weekend in October. I don't know if Columbus Day weekend is too bad (I'll check the UG chart), but that can be an option. I really wanted more than four days, but four days is better than no days! And I'm going to check F&W days -- if that's already going on that early in October, that's an extra bonus! We stay at BCV.

Hmmm.... :scratchin Sometimes it helps to just type my thoughts out.
