I need a 3 bedroom villa...where the resort is a destination in itself. I called HGVC @ Seaworld and they only rent 3 bedroom villas to Owners...not renters.

Which resort would you pick based on closest to Downtown Disney and activities for the whole family?

Marriott Grande Vista

Cypress Pointe Grande Villas

Orange Lake Country Club- This one, I've read it's huge. Also, I don't want to be here if I can't get into the East Village (the newest section).

Please help again!

Thanks.

Not to add to your confusion, but have you also looked at WorldQuest? We are staying there in July and it does seem to be a very nice property. I especially like the breakfast and snacks that they provide. It adds to the resort feel.

I would love to hear what people have to say. We are also looking for a resort that is a vacation all by itself. I checked the pictures of the hotels you mentioned and all look nice. I was hoping for some discounts but the rates all seem to be over $200 per night. I only need a 2 bedroom unit, I would even live with a studio. We are a family of 5 with 3 young girls. In the past we have stayed moderate so a studio would be fine for us.

We've stayed at CPGV and OLCC. I'd pick CPGV over OLCC any day. Its a hop skip and a jump to DD from CPGV, and the resort is smaller and has a homey feel. We really did feel like we lived there, as opposed to OLCC which we did not care for. I know they just added on a water park at OLCC, its a good thing, because when we were there unless you had tiny babies, the splash park was not much fun for kids. The traffic on 192 to get to WDW was horrid. As someone who deals with Washington, D.C. traffic day in and day out, I thought people were exaggerating when they said Orlando traffic could be bad. Found out that was NOT a lie when you stay at OLCC. It took a good 10 minutes just to get OUT of the resort and then the traffic at 192 was often in gridlock. We'd never stay there again. CPGV, otoh, is one of my favorite places to stay anywhere in the world, and that includes hotels on WDW property.

I can't speak to CPGV but there is no comparison between the Marriott grande Vista and OLCC. We spent a week at OLCC and would not recommend it. You can't lose with a marriott. You may want to see if you can get into Marriott's Imperial Palms. they are only three bedroom units and located right next to the world resort. We stayed there in 2006 and it was very nice.

We've stayed at all 3 and liked them all. I really liked the location of Orange Lake but it was really too big. You have to drive to get to the pools in a lot of the units. I don't like to do that on vacation.

Cypress Pointe was nice and the pool area was ok. It is also in a great location.

But ...my vote based on what you are looking for is the Grande Vista. It is a really beautiful resort...with nice size units that I believe have all been recently redone within the last year or so. The pools are fabulous...the pool bar is great...it is on a beautiful golf course and most of all is a super easy commute to Disney and or SeaWorld and Universal.

I think the Marriott is definitely more upscale than Cypress Pointe. But if it is way too expensive...the others are nice too.

Happy Planning!

I have stayed at Marriott's Grande Vista and Cypress Pointe Grand Villas and out of those two, I would choose Marriott's Grande Vista. There was nothing wrong with CPGV, but to me, it had more of an apartment complex feel while Marriott's Grande Vista had a resort feel. Cypress Pointe Grand Villas is closer though. It's very easy to get on to Disney property via Downtown Disney if you stay at CPGV. There is also a grocery store very nearby.

Driving from MGV took about 10 - 15 minutes, which we did not mind and traffic was never bad. MGV is also very close to Sea World, if you want to go there.

Marriott Grande Vista - it is a Marriott and most of the time these are superior.

now I have had a bad stay here - but I had 4 lovely, no problem at all stays, here first.

I checked out Marriott Grand Vista and it looks great. Does anyone know of any deals out there? We are willing to travel in August.

In today's mail we got a brochure from Marriott Grande vista which says "5 days 4 nights for only $199 and receive 7,500 World Perks Bonus Miles" (whatever they are??). I wonder if it is worth it (I know we would have to sit through a 90 minute timeshare)?

That is a great price. What do you do with the kids while you are in the presentation? I would do this if there was a place for the kids. I wonder what they would charge to extend by a day or two. How did you get on the mailing list? I am going to check out Marriotts web site and see if there is a place to sign up.

unless the brochure or letter says you have sit through the timeshare sales pitch - you don't.

Marriott does not do the hard sell.

they are becoming more like DVC - if the resort doesn't sell you - the salesperson sure can't.

These are all very nice resorts. I'd stay at any of them without hesitation. With that said, Grande Vista would be my choice of these to stay at. OLCC (River Island is now the newest section) would be the choice for activities. And Cyrpress Pointe would be the closest to Disney property - it is very close to the gate leading to Downtown Disney. Grande Vista, though, is only about 6 miles from DTD.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of these choices, but if it were me I'd take Marriott first. In my visits, the Marriott resort experience has been consistent and excellent. We'll be in one of those Grande Vista three bedroom villas on Sunday.

Check eBay for rentals. We rented a 3BR at SeaWorld HGVC for $650 for the WEEK, and I just saw another good 3BR deal there. There are always CP deals too, and GV...depends on dates. All things being equal, I would stay at MGV or HGVC, OLCC gets way too many bad reviews and CP doesn't compare to those 2. I have stayed at MGV and it was nice, really enjoyed HGVC and would stay again, and I checked out CP on our trip in Sept. and it had a lower-end apartment feeling to me as opposed to a "resort" feel, although it does have a great location.

We stayed at CP last year in a 2 BR and we really liked it! It was clean, spacious, and a quick drive to WDW. And my kids loved the volcano pool. They have activities for the kids, but we were too busy with WDW to do them. If you want a super deal on CP/CPGV go to www.hotelkingdom.com they usually have the 2 BR for about $99.00 and the 3 BR for about $147.00 per night. And that is w/o a timeshare presentation. We used hotelkingdom last year and had no problems. We were asked at check in if we were interested in doing the timeshare, and they offered some sort of incentive to do it, but we said no thanks and never heard another word about it. Have a great time no matter which you choose!
